This could be considered an unintentional mistake, but my father clearly had a chance to be saved when he fell. Qin Mu Hui ignored the trivial matter between the grandfather and grandson and instructed Shi Yun, "You will be fully responsible for this case. Even if it implicates the Cui Family, I want to hear the truth."
Shi Yun bowed in acknowledgment, and everyone exited the palace.
Once outside, Wang Kuan brushed himself off and left. Shi Yun couldn't stop him as he sarcastically asked, "Will your family let me in? I've heard their temper isn't great; even if they do let me in, I wouldn't dare stay."
Shi Yun could only sigh as he watched his retreating figure. He decided to finish handling his current affairs first and instructed his guards to follow him. By the time they returned to the Left Minister's Residence, items from their home were already being sent continuously to the rented courtyard.
In the following days, the atmosphere in Jingjing City suddenly grew tense as officials were being raided daily. The Cui Family indeed had intricate ties to this entire affair. They claimed that the main line had been deceived and used as a pawn in this mess while bearing responsibility for negligence.
Old Master Cui Cheng, now in his eighties, trembled as he entered the palace to plead guilty. He bowed deeply with each step but only managed five bows before Qin Mu Hui hurriedly issued an edict forbidding him from bowing further for fear he might collapse in the palace. They even sent a sedan chair and carefully carried him into the hall.
After recounting a tale of teacher-student affection, Old Master Cui was respectfully escorted out of the palace. The Cui Family's crisis was resolved, and discussions about them ceased among the public.
