Sang Qingxiao quickly followed, jokingly saying, "You really have taken charge of my tavern, haven't you?"
Misha replied with a hint of annoyance, "Haven't I always been in charge? Including everything in your Small Tavern."
"Yes, yes, the housekeeper is the greatest. I won't provoke you. You're acting like you've eaten gunpowder today, all fierce and grumpy," Sang Qingxiao teased as he kept pace. Just as they entered the backyard, he suddenly turned around and asked, "Are you going to kill the Mirror Demon?"
Sang Qingxiao shrugged. "Let's see how it goes. I don't like to seek trouble."
Misha sighed, "The Mirror Demon is a big troublemaker. Not particularly evil, but definitely knows how to stir up chaos."
Sang Qingxiao wrinkled his nose as if something was burning. "Oh no! My big pot of meat! I just had it boiling perfectly and forgot to take the firewood out."
Misha hurried to salvage his dish.
Sang Qingxiao laughed behind him for a while before suddenly saying, "If you ever plan to visit friends one day, give me a heads-up."
Misha paused for a moment but didn't respond.
Sang Qingxiao continued, "By the way, have you thought about how far you're planning to go with this? I might not be able to find him."
He was your enlightenment into demon cultivation; his significance to you is different. Although he taught you with some ulterior motives, bringing him out of the Demon Suppression Tower is just a side note for you. In comparison, he put more effort into teaching you.
Misha, you're someone who values emotions deeply. You may act indifferent on the surface, but your heart feels differently. Since you're so familiar with him, he would be less guarded around you; thus, your chances of finding him are quite high.
And who knows? He might have come to Jingjing City just to seek refuge with you.
Misha immediately countered, "Absolutely impossible! When we parted that day, he said we would never meet again."
"Tsk tsk, so heartless," Sang Qingxiao remarked. "He thinks I'm a key target for Pujisi; being too close to me would lead to him losing his freedom again."
"You could actually hide this from him today and communicate privately later," Sang Qingxiao suggested.
"I'm afraid he'll cause more trouble and implicate innocent people. Mentioning it today is just a warning for the Court," Misha replied.
Sang Qingxiao reminded him, "If we don't take action and this case gets reported, the Court might think of Pujisi."
The monks of Pujisi are somewhat lacking in their meditation practices, which affects their cultivation level. They may not be as formidable as rumors suggest, but the artifacts they pass down and rarely show should not be underestimated.
A letter was sent, and it was likely that Pujisi would send someone to the capital, so you need to find that person and warn him not to go too far and to leave the capital as soon as possible.
Misha silently nodded.
Just as Sang Qingxiao had anticipated, the emperor was worried about the safety of the capital, but more so about his own safety. With a Demon King lurking nearby, who wouldn't be afraid?
Though all of this was merely Misha's speculation, the emperor immediately decided to send someone from Pujisi on a trip.
On the day the letter was dispatched, Sang Qingxiao teased The Office of Censors, saying that Pujisi was coming to take him away. This frightened The Office of Censors so much that they cried out loud, refusing to leave no matter what. Each one of them clung to this and that, and at one point even attempted to pack their belongings to flee to nearby counties, planning to hide for a while before returning.
