"Ah, they say that diligence can make up for a lack of talent. I sleep only one hour each day, spending the rest of my time memorizing, yet I still find myself at the bottom of the ranks. After several assessments, I became the lowest-ranked monk, feeling both unwilling and helpless.
That was until I encountered the Vajrayana Wooden Fish. In the dead of night, it began to produce rhythmic sounds on its own, without anyone striking it. When I pressed my ear against it, I could even hear faint whispers. Though I couldn't make out the words, those inexplicable sounds brought a profound calm to my heart.
That night, for the first time, I memorized an entire Sutra. Overjoyed and curious about the Muyu, I spent more than a year searching for its origins and uses. From that moment on, my grades skyrocketed; I quickly mastered the essential courses for monks and ascended to the position of Abbot, ruling over the entire Puzhao Temple.
However, as I gazed at the Sarira enshrined in the main hall, I found myself unsatisfied. Yuanhui wore a puzzled expression; I couldn't understand why my methods were sound yet I still couldn't accumulate Merit. To prolong my Lifespan, I gradually consumed my own flesh and blood, enduring countless pains within me each day.
Do you think I willingly took such risks to borrow Merit? The truth is, I had no Method! Just a little more effort was needed; I had worked my whole life for this goal and couldn't let it all go to waste.
I have always been benevolent and have never harmed anyone. The act of extending one's life can indeed be achieved through another's flesh and blood, but I'd rather use my own than harm others. If I were to attain enlightenment and become a Buddha, wouldn't that benefit both Puzhao Temple and the entire Great Jing Dynasty?
With such a small obsession driving me, why do you insist on pushing me so hard? Why not help me fulfill my wish? Yuanhui finally squeezed out a few tears in frustration, but no one present was moved by his tears.
Seeing this scene, Yuanhui felt annoyed and devised another plan. He looked at Cai Zhuo; with the royal family facing continuous troubles and His Majesty suffering from several illnesses, it certainly affected his Lifespan.
I had once predicted that as troubles increased for the royal family, His Majesty's Lifespan would deplete even faster. Look at my frail body; though it seems destined for an early death, I've managed to hold on until now. The Secret Technique—does His Majesty desire it? What if I exchanged this Secret Technique for Merit?
Cai Zhuo didn't believe him. With such a skeletal frame, even if he could truly extend his life, the cost would be substantial.
I have consumed my own flesh and blood to reach this state. If others' flesh and blood were used to extend life instead, the cost would fall upon them without harming myself. As a ruler of a nation, surely there are people willing to contribute.
Hearing this explanation from Cai Zhuo made him realize how terrifying the Method was. Considering His Majesty's condition, he hesitated for a moment—should he report to Your Majesty first before making a decision?
But with so many eyes upon them, Cai Zhuo concealed his thoughts and continued to express disbelief; however, his tone was no longer as firm as before. His murderous intent toward Yuanhui had also diminished slightly. He suggested to Sang Qingxiao that since this Merit ultimately belonged to the royal family, it would be better for His Majesty to decide. If possible, they should try to capture living subjects."
Sang Qingxiao naturally sensed his thoughts but chose not to expose them. Instead, she smiled and said it made sense, though she still couldn't think of a method to capture someone. I noticed that Cai was having a good conversation with him, so perhaps I should talk to him a bit more?
