"No, Your Majesty, you worry too much," the Imperial Physician said. "You need to rest and there's no need to get worked up over such trivial matters."
The Demon Fetus stirred again, causing the Great Yu Emperor to grunt in discomfort. Trivial matters? Hmph, my life is at stake here, and you call this trivial? The Imperial Physician was useless; it was just an abortion, yet they couldn't manage to carry it out.
Shadow's End knew that the Great Yu Emperor was venting his anger everywhere. Instead of being forceful, they used special techniques to massage the Emperor's body, hoping to alleviate some of his pain. In reality, the effect was minimal, yet Shadow's End persisted every day.
After cursing for a while, the Great Yu Emperor finally asked, "Is everything arranged for the Stargazing Tower?"
"It's all set."
"Then... then..." Just a few days ago, he had boldly declared he would die heroically, but now that the day had come, he felt a twinge of fear.
Having served him for so long, Shadow's End understood him well and offered a way out. "Your Majesty, perhaps we could postpone the consort's appointment by another day."
"I have a good relationship with the consort; I really need to say goodbye properly."
The hall fell silent for a moment before the Great Yu Emperor suddenly showed vulnerability to Shadow's End. His swirling emotions made his eyes redden. "Shadow's End, I still have so many things left undone. I really don't want to die..."
"Your Majesty," Shadow's End replied gently, "I have been thinking of an idea that might work."
Qi Xiaomian wanted to inform Wen Xinggui about the situation at Stargazing Tower before it happened so he could head to Black Flame City first. However, he was too late in finding someone; Wen Xinggui had already been summoned by the Great Yu Emperor.
What he thought would take just a few hours ended up taking two whole days, and the date for the Great Yu Emperor’s entry into Stargazing Tower was also pushed back.
Things were taking an unexpected turn!
Qi Xiaomian had Huayang think of a method to investigate further, but since the Monarch did not summon anyone— not even the impersonating Shadow's End— they missed morning court.
Later on, news came that Wen Xinggui had entered Stargazing Tower under imperial decree. When he left the palace, he reeked of alcohol.
Could it be that the Great Yu Emperor actually met him at such a critical moment?
Qi Xiaomian wanted to send a message to Wen Xinggui to confirm if he had seen it but received no reply.
This was not looking good.
Sang Qingxiao believed that it was likely the Great Yu Emperor had come up with another brilliant idea and wanted him involved in its execution. "Let’s make another attempt at entering Stargazing Tower!"
Once again, they would go hand in hand.
The outer defenses of Stargazing Tower were more stringent than ever; the number of guards had more than tripled and their patrol range expanded by two streets. It was almost one guard every ten steps, making infiltration significantly more difficult.
The previous Rune Confusion technique was not suitable for large-scale use, so Sang Qingxiao set up a small Maze Formation and leaped over the guards' heads. Outside the Stargazing Tower, the density of guards was even greater, almost one guard per step. Two of them lifted a few tiles and entered Wen Xinggui's line of sight.
Wen Xinggui seemed to know they would come; he didn't make a fuss. He merely glanced at them before his attention returned to the mural. "Feel free; I still have many things to do."
Sang Qingxiao also looked at the mural, naturally noticing the areas she had altered before, even speaking out loud. However, it was Wen Xinggui who spoke first. "I tried to preserve what you changed."
"You remember?"
"I don't remember," she sighed. "After coming in and seeing it, it felt familiar, and then I recalled."
Wen Xinggui added two strokes to the mural with seriousness. "After pondering over it these past few days, I've realized that the path you laid down is not meant for the Great Yu Emperor."
"Indeed," Sang Qingxiao revealed some truth. "There are dangers behind the boulder; leaving it there gives us a chance to sneak in."
"Why is the Great Yu Emperor looking for you?" she asked him in return.
"As you can see, it's just trivial matters regarding changes to the Feng Shui formation. However, this time it's more complicated. His Majesty concealed its purpose from me; my abilities are limited, and I truly cannot discern it."
"Most of the other murals have already been altered; only this one remains. If you want to know the truth, you should go look at the other murals."
"Thank you."
Wen Xinggui paused for a moment. "I haven't been much help either. When I came here, I was full of confidence, but these past few days have shown me that I'm merely a frog at the bottom of a well. Not only can I not compare to Miss Sang in terms of Feng Shui formations, but I find that even an ordinary person like His Majesty surpasses me."
"What you said before was harsh but true. This time, the Wen Family must focus on diligent study and return with knowledge."
"It’s not good to stay idle; once the city gates open, I’ll go out and experience more. What the Wen Family lacks is more life experience."
"Thank you for your reminder."
Sang Qingxiao shifted her gaze to other murals and stared for a long time, still feeling lost in fog. It was Qi Xiaomian who surprisingly picked up on some clues.
"After the formation changed, its function seems related to transformation."
Sang Qingxiao was somewhat astonished. "You haven't practiced this path; how can you be so certain?"
"I've seen it before."
"Where did you see it?"
Qi Xiaomian's face flushed slightly as she remarked, "That's the book of His Majesty."
"Ah, when I wanted to read it, you wouldn't let me. If I had seen that page, I wouldn't have been left in the dark for so long."
Qi Xiaomian stubbornly replied, "That book is not good."
"Ah, men!"
The book had been taken away back then without a thorough reading, which was truly a pity.
"Is there any Method to borrow it again for a look?"
Great Yu Emperor said, "Treating it as a talisman, it's not so easy to lend out. Let me try to recall it first."
Qi Xiaomian picked up a pen and began to write and draw. After frowning and revising several times, she managed to reproduce about seventy to eighty percent of it.
The characters she recalled were different from the current script; they were based on it but with much more complex strokes. With careful scrutiny, some could still be recognized.
"Soul Transformation technique?! The conditions are so harsh; it looks dangerous. Great Yu Emperor, are you planning to struggle on the brink of death again?"
"Soul Transformation!!"
Wen Xinggui abruptly stopped what he was doing and came over, his expression serious as he read the ancient text. After a while, he suddenly slammed the pen he was holding onto the ground and shouted angrily, "Great Yu Emperor, are you trying to harm me?!"
