Sun Rongniang felt that it was Sang Qingxiao who awakened her, allowing her to break free from the entanglements of her marriage. She opened her heart to Sang Qingxiao and, upon learning that her man was in trouble, she stayed close by, urging her to be cautious. As she spoke, tears began to flow down her cheeks. 0

Sang Qingxiao could no longer maintain her facade and revealed some truths. The person who had coughed up blood was merely a wooden puppet, and the illusion was just a trick. Even the voice transmission meant to intimidate was a mere imitation. 0

Sun Rongniang was astonished upon hearing this. She sighed, "You all are quite bold," and then covered her mouth to stifle a laugh, clearly amused by Niu Dali's earlier predicament. 0

Qi Xiaomian thought that the immortal would rush to find him, but perhaps he had been hindered by Niu Dali, as he did not appear again. Niu Dali himself was truly frightened; it took him a full seven days to show his face. Rumors in the shadows gradually surfaced, and his subordinates sensed that things were not looking good but dared not intrude recklessly. When they finally saw their master, they embellished the situation with exaggerations. Niu Dali's slightly upturned lips instantly turned downward, his eyes darkening with murderous intent. 0

Chaos erupted in the city once more. Over eighty percent of the residences were invaded without reason, with belongings stolen at will. Those who resisted even slightly met with violent consequences and found themselves reporting to the Government, where no one dared take their cases. 0

The inn, as expected by the guests who had squeezed in, managed to evade one search after another. 0

Sun Rongniang worried for several days, feeling both relieved and confused. After all, he had left with a smile that day; they should have reconciled by now. Why was he still afraid of corpses lying in the courtyard? It seemed his heart was not sincere; he must have something to hide. 0

Without Niu Dali's incessant nagging, she thought that surely something would happen on the Immortal Statue's side. Indeed, actions were taken, but they were not directed at Qi Xiaomian. 0

Old Vine had been monitoring the Taoist temple for several days when one night it finally saw Lou Old Woman leave. It slipped through walls almost unnoticed. Along the way, it used spells with such skill that its movements were mysterious; however, it still couldn't discern her true strength. 0

The physical form was too obstructive to see through, yet it provided Old Vine with some cover against being detected by foreign entities. 0

Lou Old Woman moved quickly, clearly having a specific target in mind. She passed by Niu Mansion without entering and continued south for about two incense sticks' worth of time before stopping outside a courtyard. 0

Old Vine focused its gaze and recognized something familiar. This was not Ding Shoudao's residence from Baekje Sect—oh no, it had been renamed Ding Shoudao's house now. 0

Old Vine had been busy during these days; aside from the Taoist temple in Great Ginger Capital, it had explored every nook and cranny. The various cults were far more interesting than those royal relatives. The royal family cared about their reputation and had constraints; any wrongdoing would be meticulously concealed, making it troublesome to dig deep into their affairs. Unlike these cults—each one more shameless than the last—Old Vine feasted on gossip daily and found itself quite entertained. 0

Ding Shoudao fancied himself a compassionate person but came from a humble landlord family. At eighteen, he sat beside his fields watching laborers toil away and felt a wave of sorrow wash over him; he broke down in tears. His family rushed over upon hearing the commotion and sought to punish those laborers without understanding the situation. 0

Ding Shoudao loudly questioned his family about why they would enslave others. His relatives thought he was momentarily deluded; however, as opposition grew around him, his ideas spiraled out of control. 0

Faced with much resistance and disbelief from those he sought to liberate, Ding Shoudao took action: he changed his name to reflect his new beliefs about morality and opened his doors to distribute all his wealth among the laborers. Subsequently, he employed persuasion, cunning tactics, and even theft to acquire riches from wealthy families which he then shared with the common people. 0

This so-called wealthy class did not include Official Family members; however, as Ding Shoudao’s influence grew stronger, he created his own doctrine and established a cult that swept across several states within a short time frame. The Official Family recognized the shifting tides and sought ways to appease him with money while Ding Shoudao reluctantly accepted their offerings—essentially keeping peace between them. 0
