Sagawa, who had his hat removed, looked dejected, with his hands locked together. Ito let out a sigh and took off his sunglasses again. In fact, Ito was none other than the undercover officer Ito who had infiltrated the yacht club. He struggled to stand up, his obese body like a mountain completely blocking the light at the end of the opposite corridor.
Suddenly, Sagawa burst into laughter, then crawled to the wall, panting heavily. "Why?" he gasped, perhaps because the entire corridor was too dark and the noise from the party outside was too loud. Sagawa shouted again, "Why?" to make sure Ito could hear him this time.
Ito remained calm, taking out a crumpled cigarette from his pocket. "You dismembered Ueno To, but he wasn't your target, was he? Your target should be the female hostess on the yacht," he said, pausing and giving Sagawa Shinsuke a fierce look. The lit cigarette emitted sparks, shining directly on Ito's face, making him look exceptionally stern.
"After you returned on bail from Germany, you transformed into a popular author and so-called gourmet. But deep down, you still crave human flesh, don't you? Despite your efforts to restrain your twisted thoughts, you have more than once contemplated your next cannibalistic plan." Ito took a drag of his cigarette and continued, "Don't ask me how I know. I found clues in your study. Your notes meticulously detail the physiological structures and skin textures of people of different races and ages. This indicates that you have a cannibalistic obsession. And your ultimate target is the female host at the yacht club your father frequents. She is young, beautiful, and fits all your criteria. So, you began a series of stalking attempts to get close to her."
Sagawa remained silent, leaning against the wall, seemingly detached from the story being told. This indifferent attitude further fueled Ito's anger. He squatted down, locking eyes with Sagawa, and continued, "But Ueno To's appearance completely disrupted your plan. During a yacht trip, Ueno To accidentally discovered your stalking scheme. He was indignant and wanted to expose your grotesque behavior. Later, he was astonished to learn about your identity as an author and gourmet, even appearing on television. Ueno To changed his mind about reporting you to the police, secretly hoping that a despicable creature like you would be publicly humiliated. So, during your participation in that cooking show, he deliberately cut the studio's power and left a note outlining his plan, then hid in a corner to watch you in your disoriented state."
"But things obviously didn't develop in the ideal direction. You found Ueno To and cruelly murdered him, and furthermore, you...," Ito choked up at this point, feeling his throat go dry, so he swallowed some saliva and intended to continue speaking.
"And you even cooked Ueno To's body, I don't want to go into the specific details of the process right now. But I think, due to Ueno To being a person who spends a long time at sea and is also quite old, from the perspective of the meat, it must be very, very unsuitable for your taste. So, you threw the remaining dismembered body into the sea." When it came to this, Sagawa suddenly fell silent. For a moment, he didn't know how to respond, and just hung his head. He quietly said, "You ordinary people have no idea what true deliciousness is. "Is that so? Then why don't you tell the judge and everyone what truly matters!" Ito sneered, taking out his phone from his pocket, preparing to contact his colleagues at the police station.
"Don't you want to know where Ueno To's remaining body went?" Sagawa suddenly said with a sly smile, his disheveled appearance and ugly face making him look even more sinister, with his oily, sparse hair sticking to his head due to the damp weather, making him appear even more repulsive.
Ito suddenly fell silent, staring intently at Sagawa, who seemed equally eager to know the answer. It was as if any words he spoke would immediately vanish into thin air.
Sagawa whistled and then looked through the crack in the wall at the banquet hall next door... In the banquet, the upper-class elites were dressed in sharp suits, holding wine glasses and engaging in conversations. Some were indulging in their "dinner" at the table...

Appendix: In 1981, Sagawa Issei was studying English literature at the University of Paris when he became infatuated with his Dutch classmate Rini Hartveldt (Renee Hartevelt). On June 14 of the same year, he invited Hart Weld to his residence for dinner and literary discussion. There, he shot Rini in the back of the head with a small-caliber hunting rifle, killed her, engaged in necrophilia, and then proceeded to cut off her thigh and arm to consume. After eating Rini Hartveldt over two days, he disposed of the remaining body in two large suitcases in a park. Following the exposure of the incident, the French police arrested Sagawa and pressed charges against him. Sagawa Issei's father, Sagawa Akira (Akira Sagawa), a wealthy and influential man, hired the best lawyer to create reasons to exonerate him. Ultimately, the court found Sagawa to be severely mentally ill and he was sent to a psychiatric hospital. Sagawa Akira claimed that Sagawa Issei was not fit to stand trial in France and managed to have him extradited back to Japan. In 1985, his father successfully brought him back to Japan, where he was admitted to the Tokyo Metropolitan Matsuzawa Hospital. The following year, Japanese psychiatric experts declared Sagawa to be mentally sound, and he was released. From his return to Japan to his release, the whole process took less than 15 months. Afterward, he became a celebrity in Japan - he wrote 18 books about cannibalism, vividly describing the entire process of consuming Hartevelt in his most famous work, "In the Fog." He also starred in an erotic film called "A Room of Stifling Air" ("Shisenjiyou no Aria"). Additionally, he had a column in a Japanese newspaper and even appeared on a cooking show on television, showcasing his culinary skills! Sagawa Issei became a well-known figure in Japan and around the world due to his unrepentant attitude towards the entire incident and his fondness for cannibalism.
