The class bell rang, pulling me back from my thoughts as I prepared to focus on the lesson. Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside the classroom, interrupting the teacher's lecture. Then, Zhao Zhiqiang's voice grew louder as he approached, filled with arrogance and mockery. "Bai Qingxia, why are you hiding? Come out and chat!"
I frowned and walked to the classroom door, where I saw Zhao Zhiqiang blocking Bai Qingxia's desk. One hand rested on her table while he held a beautifully wrapped gift box in the other, a lewd smile plastered across his face.
Bai Qingxia sat at her desk, pale and trembling slightly, her eyes filled with fear and disgust.
Around us, classmates gathered, whispering and pointing. Li Mei stood beside Bai Qingxia, glaring angrily at Zhao Zhiqiang, trying to protect her friend.
"Zhao Zhiqiang, what are you doing? Stop harassing Qingxia!" Li Mei shouted.
Zhao Zhiqiang shot her a disdainful glance. "Get lost; this is none of your business! I'm talking to Bai Qingxia." With that, he reached out to grab Bai Qingxia's hand.
I quickly stepped in front of Zhao Zhiqiang, blocking his hand.
In a calm tone, I said, "Zhao Zhiqiang, this isn't right. In broad daylight, bothering a girl like this is inappropriate."
Zhao Zhiqiang sized me up and sneered. "Oh, if it isn't Lu Yuanqiu! What’s this? Playing the hero? I suggest you mind your own business and not get yourself into trouble." His eyes were filled with provocation.
Ignoring his taunts, I turned to the onlookers and raised my voice. "Everyone can see that Zhao Zhiqiang has prepared a gift for Bai Qingxia today to express his affection. However, it seems that Bai Qingxia isn't interested. What does this indicate? It shows that Zhao Zhiqiang's emotional intelligence needs improvement! Everyone knows that forcing someone into something they don't want isn't sweet!"
As I spoke, I took the gift box from Zhao Zhiqiang's hands and opened it in front of everyone. Inside was a cheap necklace, poorly made and clearly something one would find at a street market.
I picked up the necklace and displayed it to my classmates around me. "Look, this is the gift carefully chosen by Zhao Zhiqiang. It's worth a fortune! However, I feel that this necklace doesn't match Bai Qingxia's elegance. Don't you all agree?"
The classmates began to murmur among themselves; some chuckled while others shook their heads, and Zhao Zhiqiang's face turned a deep shade of anger.
I continued, "Zhao Zhiqiang, when pursuing a girl, you need to be strategic. It's all about knowing her preferences. How can you expect to win Bai Qingxia's heart with such a cheap gift? You should first understand her likes and then choose an appropriate present. That way, you'll achieve twice the result with half the effort. Don't you think?"
I patted Zhao Zhiqiang on the shoulder and said earnestly, "Young man, there's still a long road ahead; take your time to learn."
Zhao Zhiqiang was left speechless by my words. He was furious but dared not lash out in front of so many people.
He shot me a fierce glare before turning and leaving the classroom.
The onlookers gradually dispersed, and the classroom returned to its usual calm.
Li Mei walked up to me, looking at me with admiration. "Lu Yuanqiu, you're amazing! How did you do that? Zhao Zhiqiang was sent away by just a few of your words!"
I smiled but said nothing. Bai Qingxia also approached; her head was lowered as she softly said, "Thank you, Lu Yuanqiu."
I looked at her, concern filling my eyes. "Are you okay?"
She shook her head. "I'm fine, thank you for helping me out."
"If he bothers you again, just let me know," I replied.
She gently nodded, then turned and returned to her seat.
Li Mei continued to follow me closely, chattering excitedly, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
I sat back down, picked up my pen, and continued writing in my notebook.
I noticed that after Bai Qingxia sat down, she took a small bottle of medicine from her backpack, poured out a pill, and discreetly swallowed it.
