With her wood-based abilities, Lin Yao felt somewhat at ease in the forest, even if she wasn't exactly swimming in comfort. As she moved through the trees, she searched for areas with powerful exotic plants and beasts, specifically targeting these locations to secretly stir up trouble, provoking the pursuing giant python into a confrontation with other creatures.
Navigating the edge of danger, Lin Yao remained cautious, aware that the Pure Source Fruit not only attracted the giant python but also all the exotic beasts in the forest. With her system space at her disposal, she could safely store the Pure Source Fruit when necessary, using her wood abilities to conceal her presence and aura.
When the giant python and other beasts clashed, she would quietly slip away. Unfortunately, she was still within the examination area, where the beasts weren't particularly strong and couldn't withstand the giant python for long. Lin Yao had to repeat this tactic periodically to keep the giant python occupied until it was nearly time to collect the Pure Source Fruit completely. She then used her wood abilities to mask her aura and vanished from the python's pursuit range.
After all this effort, losing the Pure Source Fruit was a bitter disappointment. The giant python's fury was palpable as it wreaked havoc across a large swath of forest. Lin Yao watched as two proctors had no choice but to intervene and slay the rampaging python to prevent further destruction.
"Old Xie, these students today are truly something else," one examiner remarked casually, draping an arm over another's shoulder. "You can't help but admire their boldness and strategy; their combat skills are quite impressive." Though his face was obscured by paint, his eyes betrayed a sense of appreciation.
"I'm just complaining about how she caused this mess for us to clean up, not asking you to praise her," came the retort.
"Then I’ll apply to be a teacher at First Middle School. You better not!"
"That won't do! With such a daring student, I must teach her a lesson."
As the giant python fell to the instructors' blades, Lin Yao sensed its demise—a part of her plan all along. Feeling unburdened, she quickly found a secluded spot to tidy herself up and opened her daily status panel.

Lin Yao glanced at her ability level, not surprised at all; she had felt her powers increase just moments ago in the forest. However, the unripe Pure Source Fruit in the system space (Should I spend some points to hasten its ripening?) caught her off guard.
According to their plan, they could not wait for the Pure Source Fruit to mature before harvesting it. Once the fruit ripened, the giant python would no longer be entangled in battle but would unleash its full power to take down all the students and swiftly return to devour the Pure Source Fruit.
So, it was expected that the Pure Source Fruit had not matured yet, but she hadn’t anticipated that the system could actually accelerate the ripening process of the fruit. This was quite a surprise.
After her astonishment faded, Lin Yao began to check her daily tasks.
Daily Tasks:
Task 1: Kill a Level Two Exotic Beast; Reward: Points.
Task 2: Acquire a Basic Exotic Plant; Reward: Points.
Task 3: Recruit a third teammate; Reward: Points.
She had thought that the system tasks would increase daily and worried about how to manage if they rose by one or two hundred points; she certainly couldn’t keep killing endlessly every day. To her surprise, there had been no further increases, which was good news for her.
The only concern was that Task 3 hadn’t changed in three or four days; it seemed that if she didn’t complete it, it would never be updated. Being someone who disliked trouble, she didn’t want to recruit people she found unappealing just to complete a task. Moreover, recently her luck with points had not been great; without any points, she felt less urgency about completing tasks.
However, if she needed to use points to enhance the ripening process this time, she would have to start worrying about her points again and would likely need to figure out how to complete Task 3 quickly.
After resting for a bit, Lin Yao set off without delay.
Lingtai Mountain was their meeting point and also the endpoint of this exam. Across the entire planet, there were dozens of examination venues of various sizes.
Considering they had been stranded for several days due to the giant python blocking their path, in order to avoid falling too far behind the other examination groups and ending up with poor results, everyone agreed to set the meeting point at the exam's finish line.
In her haste to move forward, Lin Yao did not expect to run into her two teammates who had been waiting for a while at the necessary pass through Mount Lintai. Especially Meng Xingchen, who was grinning widely, showing off his big teeth. "Hey, Boss, surprised to see me?"
Lin Yao gave him a few light taps on the head in annoyance. "Surprised? What about you? Are you just going to give up on your exam results?"
Meng Xingchen covered his head and replied innocently, "I just wanted to be with you, Boss."
"There's only one day left until the exam. Don't you feel any sense of urgency?"
Meng Xingchen shrugged dismissively. "There's still a day left; we have enough time."
"Don't you want to rank higher?"
"As long as I can pass the exam, that's all that matters. Rankings can be dealt with after we get into school."
Lin Yao sighed helplessly and turned to Zhang Feng. "Do you think the same way?"
"The giant python is too strong. My punch felt like I was just scratching it. The captain is drawing it away by himself, and I'm a bit worried. If he doesn't come back before dark today, I'm planning to go look for him."
Compared to Meng Xingchen's playful demeanor, Zhang Feng's sincerity was more touching.
"You guys..." Lin Yao sighed softly, choosing not to judge their waiting behavior any further.
"Boss, tell me how you managed to shake off that giant python!" Meng Xingchen chimed in cheerfully.
"Let's talk while we walk."
Just as they were about to set off, Lin Yao paused and called out towards the nearby forest, "Come out!"
After waiting for a moment without anyone appearing, both Meng Xingchen and Zhang Feng looked puzzled.
Lin Yao continued, "Do you want me to drag you out myself?"
At that moment, a cold-faced beauty in black combat attire emerged from behind a tree. Her mocking tone did not match her beautiful features as she said, "Captain Lin really knows how to make an entrance."
Ignoring her sarcasm, Lin Yao sincerely said, "Thank you for your help by the river today."
Earlier by the river, when Lin Yue had come looking for trouble, it was Bai Zhenzhen who had intervened with poison that caused Lin Yue to speak uncontrollably and reveal her true feelings in public.
"You don’t need to thank me; I just can’t stand those pretentious white lotus types."
