If it weren't for Meng Xingchen's prior warning about the existence of this thing, Lin Yao would have preferred to forcibly suppress her advancement rather than take such a risk here.
Once the energy shield was activated, none of them continued fighting. Indeed, they were no match for the creatures outside. They could only stay safely within the protective barrier, accompanying Lin Yao as she advanced.

As they watched group after group of creatures brush past the energy shield, the three of them barely dared to breathe loudly. Once all the beasts had passed, they finally let out a collective sigh of relief.
However, at that moment, another exotic beast appeared. This one looked like an ordinary bear-like creature. It ambled along at the back of the group, its gait giving off an impression of leisurely stroll.
This feeling was incredibly strange, sending shivers down their spines. The three felt a surge of fear and silently communicated with their eyes, hoping that this bear-like creature would leave quickly.
But as often happens, what they feared came to pass. As it walked past the energy shield, the bear suddenly stopped. It sniffed the air as if sensing something and then reached out with its paw to tap at the barrier.
Though the energy shield had cloaking abilities, it was still a tangible barrier. When its paw made contact with something solid but saw nothing there, it tilted its head in confusion and reached out again.
This time it struck the protective barrier directly. The bear seemed to confirm that there was indeed something present and struck harder with its paw.
The three of them held their breath in fear that the creature might shatter the shield. Fortunately, that strike did not break through the barrier.
The beast was not willing to back down and swiped down again with its claw. This time, the energy shield held firm once more. After two attempts to shatter the invisible barrier without success, the bear-like creature grew increasingly frustrated. It let out a roar, and a grayish aura enveloped its body, gathering strength before it struck down once more.
This time, the barrier could not withstand the force and cracked with a loud snap. The expressions of the three individuals changed dramatically as they exchanged glances, their eyes now filled with determination. Zhang Feng gripped the weapon at his side.
Sensing the barrier's fracture, the bear-like creature's eyes gleamed with delight as it prepared for another strike. With a powerful swipe, the barrier shattered completely, exposing the four to the beast's gaze.
Zhang Feng reacted swiftly; as soon as the shield broke, he charged forward, aiming a strike at the creature's abdomen. His full-force attack, built up over time, seemed utterly ineffective against such a formidable opponent. The bear-like creature casually waved its hand, sending Zhang Feng crashing to the ground.
At that moment, Meng Xingchen and Bai Zhenzhen launched their attacks as well. Bai Zhenzhen summoned vines to bind the creature's limbs while Meng Xingchen infused his golden ability into his strike aimed at the beast’s belly. However, it was futile. The beast simply lifted its hand and broke free from the vines, sending Meng Xingchen tumbling after Zhang Feng.
After dismissing the two troublesome attackers, the bear-like creature turned its head towards Lin Yao, who was making strange movements nearby, and began to approach her step by step.
Bai Zhenzhen could not allow the beast to get close to Lin Yao at such a critical moment. She shouted, "Stop! Stay away from my captain!" With that, she threw a handful of beast-attracting powder into the air.
The powder produced by Bai Zhenzhen was ineffective against beasts of level four or above and could even provoke them further. Her intention was to anger the creature enough to make it abandon Lin Yao.
However, the beast merely grew impatient and retaliated with a strike directed at Bai Zhenzhen from a distance. She fell to her knees in pain.
Meanwhile, Zhang Feng and Meng Xingchen struggled to rise, staggering towards the bear-like creature to launch their attacks. The creature’s eyes reflected irritation as it swung its paw.
What appeared to be an unremarkable strike sent Zhang Feng crashing to the ground in a spurt of blood, unconscious. Despite this, Meng Xingchen’s resolve did not waver; his eyes flickered with determination as he charged straight at the beast once more.
The strange beast grabbed the refined giant and twisted it into a distorted shape. Then, with a heart-piercing strike, it lunged directly at Meng Xingchen's heart.
Just as Meng Xingchen was about to be fatally wounded, Bai Zhenzhen let out a terrified scream, "No!"
At that moment, the beast suddenly turned around.
Bai Zhenzhen and Meng Xingchen then noticed a sharp blade protruding from the belly of the bear-like creature. It turned out that Lin Yao had completed her advancement at a critical moment and had stabbed the beast from behind.
"Meng Xingchen, get back!"
Meng Xingchen, who had been staring blankly at death with dim eyes, suddenly lit up with surprise. Grateful for his second chance at life, he quickly obeyed and retreated from the battlefield, dragging Bai Zhenzhen along with him as he rushed to save Zhang Feng.
With an enraged roar, the bear-like beast charged at Lin Yao.

However, even with the Meteor Sword in hand, Lin Yao only managed to inflict two wounds on the bear-like creature at first. Once it became wary, it surrounded itself with a grayish aura.
When Lin Yao's sword struck this gray aura, it felt as if an immense force was suppressing her weapon, preventing it from advancing any further.
With just a glance, Lin Yao confirmed that this was a power-type ability.
Fighting against power-type abilities was troublesome. As long as the opponent's energy wasn't exhausted, any damage inflicted would be superficial while she would be suppressed by their abilities and forced to endure their attacks.
Realizing this was a power-type ability, Lin Yao withdrew her sword and chose not to engage in close combat anymore; instead, she decided to entangle it with wooden vines.
However, since this beast was already at Level Five and Lin Yao was only at Level Four, exhausting its energy before defeating it seemed impossible; she needed to come up with another strategy.
Seeing Lin Yao avoiding combat, the bear-like beast let out an excited roar and increased its attacks. Yet after striking for quite some time without landing a hit on her, the creature began to grow impatient.
