Lin Yao nodded and smiled at the two, a casual greeting, then pointed at the chessboard and asked, "Can you both solve that?"
Yao Beiluo had answered this question before and turned to Zhou Heng. Zhou Heng nodded with difficulty. "I saw this chess game online, pondered it for a bit, and have some ideas."
Lin Yao nodded. "Good. You both come from scholarly families, so take your time with it. I won't waste my time here."
"Where are you going?" Yao Beiluo asked, puzzled.
"I'm signing up," Lin Yao replied matter-of-factly, leaving Yao Beiluo even more confused.
"I can't solve this problem, so I can't sign up either," he said. "Alright, you all who understand can take your time. Wang Jincheng, since you won't be able to solve it either, do you want to come with me?"
Wang Jincheng hadn't considered that he could leave and quickly nodded. "Sure, I'll go with you."
Seeing Lin Yao take Wang Jincheng away, Yao Beiluo hesitated for a moment before saying, "Then I'll go with you too."
"Aren't you able to solve it? Why aren't you trying?" Wang Jincheng teased.
"It's not like I have to solve it," Yao Beiluo replied.
Lin Yao gave him an approving glance. "Exactly. We're just signing up; why do we have to solve the problem?"
Complicated problems can be simplified.
All those challenges and questions are just obstacles set by others for them.
They're just here to sign up; why should they follow the rules imposed by others?
Yao Beiluo's thoughts suddenly became clear, and he immediately stopped hesitating.
As he prepared to leave, the group surrounding him grew anxious. "Yao Shao, are you really not going to solve it?"
Yao Beiluo nodded.
The group panicked. "If you're not solving it, what are we supposed to do?"
"What’s the big deal? Is Yao Beiluo your parents? Without him, you can't even eat?" Wang Jincheng couldn't stand their entitled attitude and spoke up.
When it came to talking back, Wang Jincheng was quite bold.
Yao Beiluo explained gently, "This problem isn't something we have to solve; there are other ways to find the registration area."
"What other ways?"
Lin Yao should have other methods, Yao Beiluo indicated towards Lin Yao beside him.
They didn’t even know Lin Yao, so how could they believe she had any other way out? For a moment, no one moved.
Lin Yao didn’t care about these people and walked out of the classroom in a few strides. Wang Jincheng followed her, still complaining, “If you ask me, Yao Beiluo talks too much. Those people just take it for granted.”
“You see things clearly,” Lin Yao chuckled.
Hearing this, Wang Jincheng puffed out his chest proudly. “Of course! Don’t let my impatient personality fool you; I can still see the situation clearly.”
With Lin Yao gone, Yao Beiluo didn’t bother explaining to the others. He simply said, “If you’re willing, come along. If not, feel free to figure it out on your own.”
“Hey, Young Master Yao!”
“Yao Shao, I believe you! I’ll follow you!”
“Yao Shao, wait!”
Some believed him, some didn’t, and others were hesitant; opinions varied widely. As Yao Beiluo left, the classroom was left with only a little more than half of the students.
“Zhou Shao, what should we do?” one of Zhou Heng’s companions asked, unable to contain himself upon seeing the situation.
Zhou Heng hesitated for a moment before gritting his teeth and saying, “Let’s follow them and see what happens.”
“Do you all really believe in that Lin Yao?”
“Who cares if we believe or not? Let’s just see what happens. Even if they don’t have another way out, we can always come back and solve the problem later.”
“Exactly! Let’s just join in on the fun.”
The group surrounding Zhou Heng began to discuss animatedly.
With this group leaving, only about a third of the students remained in the classroom. They exchanged glances before more people gradually began to leave until no one was left behind.
Lin Yao was unaware that she had a string of followers behind her; even if she did know, she wouldn’t have cared.
“Lin Yao, what are you planning to do?”
“Just take a look around for now.”
“Just take a look?” Wang Jincheng’s voice suddenly rose as he wanted to say something but ultimately kept quiet after considering that he wouldn’t be able to win an argument.
Seeing his frustrated expression, Lin Yao laughed and patted him on the shoulder. “Wang Jincheng, I’ve realized you’re quite perceptive. I appreciate that about you. How about joining my little team?”
"With your squad of rookies, I—"
Before he could finish his sentence, Yao Beiluo rushed over. "Lin Yao!"
Wang Jincheng, unwilling to be interrupted, couldn't help but mock, "Oh, have your little milk-drinking lackeys managed to solve anything?"
Yao Beiluo frowned and replied displeased, "Wang, is there something wrong with what you said?"
Wang Jincheng was known for his sharp tongue, and Lin Yao thought Yao Beiluo would just brush it off as usual. To her surprise, he seemed genuinely angry this time.
"And if I do have a problem with you? Are you brave enough to hit me?"
"Due to school regulations, I can't just hit you. But finding a reasonable excuse to do so? That’s another story."
"You think I'm afraid of you?"
Lin Yao quickly intervened to stop their argument and asked sincerely, "If I were to hit someone, could you help me find an excuse, Yao?"
Yao Beiluo paused for a moment. "Like what?"
"Like this!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Lin Yao struck like lightning, using vines to bind a senior who had been lurking nearby.
The senior struggled but couldn't break free. Panicking, he shouted, "Hey! The school prohibits fighting! Are you trying to break the rules?"
Lin Yao approached him with a smile. "What are you talking about? Wasn't it your seniors who challenged us first? You threw down the gauntlet, and now we’re just responding in kind. This is a normal battle between two armies!"
The senior was left speechless by her words.
Lin Yao then commanded Wang Jincheng, "Take him away!"
The three of them dragged the senior to a secluded corner. In the midst of his terrified gaze, Lin Yao pulled out a row of potions.
"Do you know what these are?" she asked.
"What do you want to do?" the senior replied nervously.
Lin Yao ignored him and continued, "These were given to me by students from the potion department. They’re all prank potions. For example, this pink one makes you feel full of love; you'd want to rush over and hug someone."
The senior's pupils shrank in fear as Lin Yao pulled out a purple potion. "This one looks a bit toxic, but really it just makes your whole body turn purple for a day—no other side effects."
She put that one back and picked up a yellow potion instead. Waving it in front of the senior's eyes, she said, "I heard this one was originally meant for relieving gas. But if too much is taken… well, let’s just say you'll be farting all day long!"
After hesitating for a while and weighing her options, Lin Yao finally selected a colorful potion. "This one will match your school uniform perfectly."
