Lin Yao listened and gave her a thumbs up. No wonder she was the descendant of an entrepreneur; she truly had a business mind. From now on, the shop's affairs would be entrusted to you.
"I'm too tired; I don't want to," she replied.
"Don't you want to achieve something that would make your father regret favoring Sister Bai Lian?"
"Let me think about it."
"Sure, take your time. I'll check on Youmi over there."
Due to the need for confidentiality regarding the mini base station, Yao Beiluo set up a separate tent for Youmi to work in.
When Lin Yao arrived, Youmi was busy typing away on a holographic keyboard.
"Youmi, how's it going? Can you connect to the signal?"
Ye Yun had been assisting Youmi from the side and answered on her behalf, "Due to the signal jammers, we still can't connect to external signals. However, we can establish a communication channel among ourselves."
"Oh, how much longer do you think it will take?"
Ye Yun couldn't answer that question.
Youmi had to respond herself. "Within an hour."
Lin Yao nodded. "Alright, Youmi, thank you for your hard work."
After clarifying the progress, Lin Yao hurriedly took several speed-enhanced abilities and Soldier Zero back to the Beast Tide area.
After more than half an hour of searching, they rescued over ten people.
Upon returning, they didn't rest long; each of them took potions to replenish their abilities and stamina before continuing their rescue efforts in the Beast Tide area.
However, just after saving a few more people, a beeping sound came from the holographic terminal.
One of the speed-enhanced individuals glanced at it and exclaimed excitedly, "Great! We've established a wartime frequency; we can communicate now!"
Lin Yao looked over and said, "Let’s go back!"
"Just like that?" The others were puzzled.
"Yes. We've rescued everyone nearby; it's not practical to rely solely on foot for those farther away. Besides, we have more important things to do."
"What things?"
This time, due to the establishment of the wartime communication channel, Lin Yao managed to rescue only six or seven people before returning. After handing the rescued individuals over to the medical department, she wasted no time in gathering all the responsible personnel.
With the wartime communication channel set up, it was time for us to launch a counterattack.
"Counterattack?" The crowd was stunned.
"While I was rescuing people, I took the opportunity to scout around. The beast tide consists of only a few thousand creatures in front of us, and there are basically none behind. With so many of us here, it’s time to eliminate this wave of beasts!"
Yan Zhaolin was excited. "Yes, Lin Yao is right! Let’s wipe out the beast tide!"
The others listened and were equally exhilarated.
"Next, I will hand over command of the wartime communication channel to the class leader. You all remember to follow his orders."
When Lin Yao found the class leader and informed him about this, he initially wanted to refuse.
"I see you’ve arranged these students quite well. Why not lead them yourself?"
Lin Yao smiled faintly. "My skills are mediocre; I can only handle logistics. When it comes to facing exotic beasts, you and your team have far more experience."
The class leader felt a bit embarrassed by her praise. "Well, I’ve only dealt with a few beast tides; I can’t compare with the expedition forces."
"That experience is still more valuable than what we students have," Lin Yao replied. "I think time is running short; we should prepare for the counterattack as soon as possible!"
This wave of beast tide wasn’t particularly formidable. They were all level three or below exotic beasts, totaling only about two or three thousand, and they lacked reinforcements.
If it weren’t for encountering a situation where signals were blocked and being caught off guard, along with inadequate weapons and equipment, it’s likely that these soldiers protecting the students could have wiped out this wave of beasts on their own.
With over fifty thousand students capable of effectively battling exotic beasts, there were at least around ten thousand who could fight.
They organized these students into groups, assigning a leader for each group to command them.
The soldiers would take on the main combat role while the students provided support, clearing through the waves one by one.
Lin Yao led her small team at the forefront, training and enhancing each member's abilities during battle while also fostering teamwork.
Zhang Feng, Wan Xiaoqi, and Wang Jincheng had solid strength themselves. Meng Xingchen and Bai Zhenzhen had improved significantly through training and were much stronger than average classmates.
The six of them charged ahead, easily dispatching level two and three exotic beasts as if they had just been unleashed from captivity.
Wang Jincheng wielded a steel broadsword in one hand and unleashed lightning abilities with the other, standing before the beast tide and slaughtering fiercely. "Now this feels exhilarating!"
Nearly ten thousand students, along with a few soldiers, managed to defeat the beasts and scare them away in just over an hour, achieving a resounding victory.
Most importantly, aside from some minor injuries, there were no serious injuries or fatalities. This filled the students with joy, and they couldn't help but cheer.
"Hooray! We won!"
"We did it! We eliminated the beast tide!"
Some students celebrated by lifting each other up, while others jumped excitedly on the spot, and a few stood in disbelief, taking a while to process what had just happened.
In contrast to the jubilant students, the soldiers maintained a more composed demeanor. The squad leader remembered to have Wen Jun organize the logistics team to clean up the battlefield while he led the soldiers to search for any missing personnel in the distance.
As dusk approached, communication signals suddenly resumed.
While the students were still somewhat dazed, they were taken back to the military base. There were no explanations or briefings; they were simply told that the competition was over and were sent back to school overnight.
Lin Yao was not surprised by this situation at all. She figured that several schools and the military base would still have some disputes to settle. After all, the military base had orchestrated such a scheme to lure out the beasts. Whether they caught any snakes was uncertain, but there had been quite a few casualties among the students.
If Lin Yao hadn't appeared in time to turn the tide, the number of injured students would likely have increased even more. Although these special school students had some allowance for casualties during practice or competitions, it wasn't acceptable for them to lose their lives merely as pawns in someone else's game.
However, those matters were beyond what these unaware students could manage.
After returning to school, in order to accommodate everyone's shaken state of mind, the school granted them a three-day break.
The members of Mingguang Squad, however, had little time to rest. Meng Xingchen needed to finalize their team registration, Zhang Feng had orders for energy food from their online store to fulfill, and she and Bai Zhenzhen needed to set up a potion laboratory and teach an alchemist how to brew potions.
Once the three-day break was over, Lin Yao finally found time to organize a meal for everyone and welcome Wang Jincheng and Wan Xiaoqi into the team.
Now that our Bright Squad is officially registered, I would like to formally organize our team. After all, a squad requires more than just combat; we have many preparations before battles and various tasks after, all of which need to be handled by someone. We need someone to take charge of pre-battle planning, procurement, and information gathering, as well as post-battle organization and selling of loot, along with daily management of the squad's finances. Does anyone have an interest in taking on these responsibilities?
