"Of course," Wang Jin replied, a hint of curiosity in his tone. Zhang Feng, however, was quite sincere; their captain always seemed to have luck on her side, managing to escape danger time and again.
"That's right, our captain has luck on her side. If it weren't for certain individuals causing trouble, I bet her luck would be even better!" Wang Jin's comment was a thinly veiled jab, and though it made her frown slightly, she didn't dare to lose her temper. Instead, she stood up and said, "It's a bit warm in this tent; I think I'll step outside for a bit."
Once outside, she noticed Zhen Zhen's indifferent expression. Meng Xingchen couldn't help but advise, "Zhen Zhen, it's all in the past now. Since the captain is here and he knows he was wrong, you should be magnanimous and let it go."
Wan Xiaoqi chimed in, "Exactly. In a team, the worst thing is when there's discord among members. If the captain finds out you two are at odds, she won't be pleased."
Zhen Zhen pouted in dissatisfaction but eventually relented. "Fine, I'll just be more careful in the future."
Everyone hoped that Lin Yao had managed to survive despite the challenges of dealing with a team full of conflicts.
Seeing this unfold, Zhang Feng scratched his head and said, "I guess I'll go check on him."
However, not long after Zhang Feng stepped outside, a loud commotion erupted.
Meng Xingchen and the others rushed out of the tent to see Zhang Feng standing there with a bleeding head, shouting, "Help! Wang Jin has been kidnapped!"
His shout quickly attracted attention from several people nearby.
The team leader responsible for security immediately organized a group to track down and rescue Wang Jin.
Zhen Zhen and the others hurried over to support Zhang Feng. Before he could explain what happened, Wan Xiaoqi quickly administered a hemostatic agent to him.
Once his bleeding stopped, they finally asked with concern, "What exactly happened?"
"I went out of the tent and couldn't find Wang Jin anywhere. I started looking for him when I saw a shadow carrying something suspiciously. I tried to stop him but I was no match for that person and got injured. But I clearly saw that he was carrying Wang Jin!"
"I'm sorry; I'm just too weak," Zhang Feng said despondently, feeling powerless for not being able to save Wang Jin.
Wan Xiaoqi patted his shoulder in comfort. "Sometimes human strength has its limits; you can't blame yourself for that!"
Zhen Zhen clapped her hands and stood up decisively. "This situation can't be delayed; we need to find him quickly!"
"Find who?" they all asked in surprise.
Just then, they saw Lin Yao, Yao Beiluo, and Wang Sanquan standing behind them in a line.
Zhang Feng urgently exclaimed, "Captain! Wang Jin has been kidnapped!"
"I know," Lin Yao replied calmly. "I just received a report from Deputy Commander Wang."
Meng Xingchen was taken aback by her calm demeanor. "Captain, what's going on?"
Lin Yao waved at them, saying, "Come on, I'll take you to find him."
Despite their confusion, the group trusted her and quickly followed.
As they walked alongside Lin Yao, who appeared confident and composed with Wang Sanquan, they couldn't help but glance at Yao Beiluo, the only one in the know. However, Yao Beiluo anticipated their curiosity and simply shushed them with a gesture.
Lin Yao led the Mingguang Team while Wang Sanquan brought along his subordinates, and together they ventured into a dense forest.
Wang Sanquan, as the team leader, stopped first, prompting everyone else to halt as well. Lin Yao took a few steps forward after everyone had stopped and stood in an open area before announcing loudly, "I have a little ability that can communicate with powers. No matter the level or type of ability, it can be tried. Now, I’m here to share it with everyone!"
"This technique is called Communication." Without giving anyone a chance to respond, she raised her hand. "As long as it's an elemental ability, you can sense the corresponding element externally. Then you can communicate with these elements using your powers. You’ll be able to feel more deeply. For example, finding someone!"
As she raised her hand, those behind her felt a powerful energy sweep over them. The trees began to sway and rustle as if moved by an unseen wind.
Lin Yao closed her eyes, seemingly attuned to something. After a moment, she suddenly opened her eyes wide and pointed in a direction. "Right over there!"
Upon hearing Lin Yao's words, Wang Sanquan wasted no time; he signaled his men to follow the direction she indicated.
As they pursued, the surrounding foliage parted automatically, clearing their path and guiding them forward.
When they finally arrived at their destination, expecting a fierce battle, they were surprised to find that the vines around them acted even faster than they did—binding the person carrying Wang Jin as he attempted to flee.
The soldiers paused for a moment before realizing that the vines were there to help. They quickly moved in to place an ability restraining ring on the captured individual.
Soon after, Wang Sanquan and the Mingguang Team arrived at the scene.
When the soldiers brought the captured person before Wang Sanquan, everyone was shocked to discover that it was actually one of their own soldiers who had been following Wang Jin.
Seeing one of his own men implicated in this betrayal made Wang Sanquan's expression darken instantly. He barked, "Speak! Why did you capture Jin?"
The soldier sneered. "Why do you think?"
"Are you trying to use him to threaten me?" Wang Sanquan read the soldier's expression and understood all too well.
"So what if I am?" The soldier showed no signs of fear; instead, he wore a defiant look.
"So what? I could execute you right here and now without anyone daring to say a word!" Wang Sanquan was furious beyond measure.
"Do you dare?"
"What do I have to be afraid of?"
"I am a person of the Nisi civilization. If you military personnel from Yunmeng dare to kill me, then be prepared for the army of the Nisi civilization to come crashing down upon you!"
You could see Wang Sanquan being suppressed, and the soldiers wore expressions of smug satisfaction. Wang Sanquan had many concerns, but Lin Yao was indifferent.
She stepped forward and grasped his chin tightly, saying, "Although I don't believe that your Nisi civilization would take action against us for someone as insignificant as you, just in case, I will spare your life. Of course, if I don't kill you, do you think you'll be able to live? We have plenty of ways to make you wish for death but find no escape!"
"You dare!" The soldier's bravado was merely a facade.
Lin Yao grinned, her face twisted with cruelty. "What do I have to fear from someone like you, who doesn't even know your own identity? Really, bring him some potions."
"Ah? What potions?" Zhenzhen was caught off guard by the sudden command.
"For a spy like him, he must have developed resistance to standard potions. Let's try something unconventional."
"Ah?"
"First, give him one of your concoctions that makes it impossible to cry. Then follow it up with a sensory enhancement potion so he can truly experience what it means to be unable to cry!"
