"You are so eager to help others; how can that be considered meddling? Besides, someone like you is a rare resource on Black Porcelain Star. I must protect you," Lin Yao teased, noticing Tang Zhengsu's friendly tone.
Tang Zhengsu was unreserved in his response, fully embracing the banter. "Of course! Someone like me is one less in the world if I die."
"However, since your previous help doesn't count, and today you helped me, let us give you some exotic beast meat as a token of our gratitude."
"No need for that," Lin Yao replied.
Having discovered that the system space could maintain energy without dissipating, she had stocked up on quite a bit of exotic beast meat. However, without Zhang Feng's cooking skills, preparing it using ordinary methods would simply be a waste. Besides, she still needed their assistance with more important matters.
"If you really want to thank me, help me gather some information," she suggested.
"What kind of information?" Tang Zhengsu asked.
"About a month ago, did any of you in District Three or the nearby residential areas come across a few people?"
Upon hearing this, Tang Zhengsu and the members of the Eastern Team exchanged strange glances with their captain.
Lin Yao was puzzled by their expressions until the captain, who wore a serious and cold demeanor, asked, "Who are you to them?"
Seeing an opportunity, Lin Yao quickly replied, "I am their captain."
"And what about the kid with the Level Five Gold Ability?" the captain pressed.
Lin Yao's heart leaped with joy at this question. "So you do have news about them?"
"Answer my question first," the Eastern Team captain insisted firmly.
Lin Yao hesitated. How could she explain? Should she tell them they were from the Yunmeng Star System? But she wasn't sure if the Eastern Team members even knew about it.
At that moment, Tang Zhengsu stepped in to clarify. "I suspect you all are from the Yunmeng Star System as well. We are from there too."
Lin Yao was taken aback.
"Have you ever heard of the Expedition Special Forces from over ten years ago?" Tang Zhengsu asked.
Lin Yao initially had no idea about this; she only learned about it later when she encountered members of the Expedition Army who mentioned it.
To carve out a path to freedom for the Yunmeng Star System, the officials had made numerous attempts. They adhered strictly to their principles while conducting various experiments and research.
Ten years ago, in an effort to enhance military strength, they gathered talented individuals from all sectors of Yunmeng as support personnel and formed an Expedition Special Forces unit alongside a group of ability users and highly gifted martial artists.
Equipped with the most advanced weapons, warships, and equipment, they received top-notch support. The effects were quite remarkable.
Although it was just a special operations team of a few hundred people, their strength was on par with that of an ordinary army from a primary civilization. This gave the people of Yunmeng Star a glimmer of hope for their rise. However, as the saying goes, "the taller the tree, the more it attracts the wind."
The expeditionary special operations team soon caught the attention of the primary civilization in the East. Using their advanced communication systems, they forged commands to lure the expeditionary team to a remote location and annihilated them with overwhelming force.
Everyone in the Yunmeng Star system knew about this incident, but without evidence, they couldn't bring it to the attention of the Star Alliance. They were also unable to retaliate militarily, leaving them frustrated and forcing them to leave the case unresolved. Even after more than a decade, discussions about the expeditionary forces and the Mingguang Squad still ignited anger among them.
This was Yunmeng Star, where cutting-edge technology, top talents, and formidable military power had been combined to create a sharp weapon, only to be quietly extinguished. The loss and blow to Yunmeng were immense. Even Lin Yao, an outsider, felt a deep sense of sorrow upon hearing this.
But she never expected that the members of the expeditionary special operations team had not perished; they had ended up on Heici Star instead.
"Are you all from the special operations team?" she wanted to ask if they had survived.
It wasn't that simple. The Chaos Nebula was dangerous; they weren't inexperienced. Lin Yao thought about how aside from the journey nearing Heici Star, they had actually faced very little hardship.
From the Chaos Nebula to Heici Star was nearly a journey fraught with peril. Upon arriving at Heici Star, due to various reasons, they had lost nearly one-third of their members before barely managing to survive there.
It was indeed a tragic story. Lin Yao chose not to respond immediately and waited for him to calm down a bit before saluting them with respect: "Thank you for your hard work!"
Tang Zhengsu unexpectedly smiled and said, "Little girl, you haven't told us about your background yet."
"My name is Lin Yao. We are all from the First Academy and formed the Mingguang Squad together. This time we fell into the Chaos Nebula because we were ambushed," she explained how she ended up in the Chaos Nebula and eventually made her way to Heici Star.
At the end, he asked, "By the way, where are my team members now? How are they doing?"
"Don't worry, they're all in Zone Three. However, they have some injuries and are currently recovering," Tang Zhengsu replied.
Lin Yao thought about how her own mecha had been damaged and her spiritual body had been torn apart. If it weren't for Lin Jue finding her some rare materials, she would probably still be lying down.
They were all wearing standard protective suits, so their injuries were likely not light, and they didn't have any healing potions.
"I can't stay here any longer. When will you all be ready? I want to go to Zone Three with you," she said.
Tang Zhengsu glanced at their captain, saw him nod, and then said, "It's getting late. Let's wait until we've healed up a bit and finish off this beast first."
Only then did Lin Yao realize that everyone in the special operations team was injured. She quickly retrieved a row of healing potions from her storage space. "You all should take these potions to heal."
After receiving the potions, Tang Zhengsu was momentarily stunned before exclaiming in surprise, "Are you a space-type ability user?"
"No, it's a special storage space," Lin Yao replied. Trusting him a little more as one of her own, she gave him a half-truth and then asked, "Should I store this beast for you first? You can retrieve it later."
"Just store it if you can," he said.
Lin Yao touched the massive beast and effortlessly stored it in her system space.
Seeing her easily contain the giant beast, Tang Zhengsu's mouth fell open in astonishment. "Just how big is your space?"
"The system space is infinite," but Lin Yao knew she couldn't say that outright. Instead, she replied, "I haven't filled it up yet."
On the way back, Tang Zhengsu introduced her to the members of the Eastern Team.
"Our captain is called Yao Zhengqi; he's from the Yao family. That level five gold-type ability user in your team must also be from the Yao family, right?"
"Yao Zhengqi!"
Isn't he known as the greatest genius of the Yunmeng Star System?
