"Captain Yao, your starship has already launched. Aren't you going to move? Aren't you afraid your people will abandon you?"
As they watched the mechs ascend higher and higher, nearing the starship, Yao Zhengqi remained still, causing those around him to grow anxious. However, they firmly believed that the starship would not leave him behind and prepared to keep a close watch on him. As long as he stayed put, the starship above would not depart, and they would still have a chance to escape.
Yao Zhengqi spoke calmly, "The space on the starship is limited. Even if you all crowd in, some of you still won't make it. Instead of fixating on me, why not think of other solutions? For instance, you could modify your own starship."
"We in Sector Three have already gathered our own insights on how to break through Black Porcelain Star's energy field and traverse the Chaotic Nebula. If you're interested, I wouldn't mind leaving behind the data for your research. In time, you could collaborate to modify a starship and still find a way out!"
Hearing this, those with resources couldn't help but feel tempted. Yet, some remained hesitant, worried that Yao Zhengqi wouldn't be willing to part with complete data.
"How can we be sure that the information you provide is accurate?"
"Your research team must have knowledgeable individuals among them. If you show them the data I provide, they should be able to verify its authenticity. Of course, this information isn't free. You can exchange your own data with me—one set for another."
Before long, some agreed to the exchange.
After receiving the last pilot who had come up in a mech, Yao Beiluo finally had a moment to relax. Looking down through the transparent window, she saw Yao Zhengqi surrounded by a crowd once again, and her eyes couldn't help but redden.
"My brother's situation is likely being monitored closely; it's hard for him to escape."
"Don't worry; let's wait for the next opportunity!"
Those willing to trade were confident, but those without resources who were unwilling to put in effort were not interested in such discussions.
"Yao Zhengqi, Kexi, if others are willing to exchange data, that's their business. We have many people here who simply can't afford to build a starship. Unless you take us with you when you leave, don't think about escaping without us."
Yao Zhengqi was not surprised by this response. There would always be people like this in the world—those who were struggling themselves yet wished for others to suffer as well. On Black Porcelain Star, a place devoid of laws and with unclear rules, such individuals were especially prevalent.
"Then stay here," Kexi retorted harshly; he hated listening to threats. "We can just wait it out with you!"
Just then, Tang Zhengsu's words rang out as the starship above suddenly increased its power and broke through the atmosphere.
Those who had been watching the starship above panicked at this turn of events. "Yao Zhengqi! Kexi! Your starship is leaving without you!"
Some individuals might have been overly excited; as they watched the starship fly away, suddenly a fire dragon surged toward Yao Zhengqi and Kexi.
The people on Yao Zhengqi's side reacted quickly, immediately raising a water shield to block the fire dragon.
Seeing someone attacking him, Koqi was furious. "I've already had enough of you all watching me, and now you dare to strike!" It had been many years since he last fought; did they think he was getting old?
After saying this, Koqi waved his hand at his subordinates. "Everyone, charge! If we don't take these local bumpkins down today, then I'm not Koqi!"
Soon, chaos erupted.
Yao Zhengqi's side was quickly swept into the fray, and they no longer had time to exchange information with others.
Various combat styles were on display: some were piloting mechs, others engaged in hand-to-hand combat, and some used their abilities. It was nothing short of a massive brawl.
The scene was too chaotic; as the fighting continued, people became reckless. They no longer distinguished between friend and foe—if someone attacked them, they retaliated without caring if they were mistaken.
After a while, someone suddenly shouted, "Stop fighting! Everyone from Zone Three and Zone One has fled!"
This brought everyone back to their senses. They looked around and realized that indeed, all of Yao Zhengqi's and Koqi's people had vanished. They quickly began searching for them.
Everyone scattered in different directions. After leaving, they went to find their hidden mechs and didn’t bother about anyone else. Once they boarded their mechs, they activated them and left.
However, Yao Zhengqi wasn't so lucky.
He and Tang Zhengsu had just run a short distance when they were intercepted by Lei and Max along with their men.
Max clapped his hands at him. "Yao Zhengqi, you're really impressive! You deliberately caused chaos and then tried to slip away. If I hadn't kept my guard up, you might have actually gotten away."
"What do you want?" Yao Zhengqi asked as he shielded Tang Zhengsu behind him.
"Don't be nervous. We just want to exchange techniques for breaking through the Black Porcelain Star's power and methods for traversing the Chaotic Nebula," Lei said.
"What do you intend to trade for that?"
"We'll let you go if you provide us with the information," Max replied.
Hearing this, Yao Zhengqi laughed. "Right now we’re isolated and outnumbered. If we really give you the techniques, do you think you'll let us leave? Lei, Max, do you take me for a fool?"
Relying on their numbers, Max tore off the facade. "Since you're not cooperating, don’t blame us for taking it by force!"
"Then come at me!"
The situation was on the brink of explosion. Above them, Yao Beiluo watched as the registration of the next wave of mechs was nearly complete but had yet to see Yao Zhengqi. He couldn't help but feel anxious.
"Captain, has something happened to my brother?"
At this moment, Lin Yao could no longer offer empty words of comfort; she could only say, "Yao Beiluo, we must prepare for the best but also plan for the worst. Even if your brother doesn't make it this time, we have nothing to fear. We already know how to leave Black Porcelain Star. As long as we can successfully escape from the Chaotic Nebula this time, we can come back for your brother later without any issues."
"No, Captain, my brother has already been here for over forty years. I don't want him to waste any more time here."
Seeing the calm and composed boy with red eyes and a runny nose, Lin Yao felt an indescribable pain in her heart. She wished she could help him fulfill all his wishes.
For the first time, Lin Yao felt so powerless, realizing that her weakness required the sacrifice of others to ensure her own safety.
"My brother has such great talent; he should have had the brightest future ahead of him. Yet, he was forced into the Chaos Nebula, damaging his foundation and affecting his lifespan. There is a lack of medicine here; he can't restore his foundation in this place. If he continues to languish like this, I'm afraid that when I return, I might find an elderly Yao Zhengqi."
"What did you just say? Yao Zhengqi's lifespan is also affected?"
Lin Yao had always thought they only suffered damage to their foundations; it was the first time she heard that their lifespans were also being compromised.
