Max released Tang Zhengsu with a grin and turned to Captain Yao Zhengqi. "So, are you going to talk?"
"I can tell you where the information is, but I want to see my teammate leave first, Yao Zhengqi."
"How could they let go of the only person who poses a threat to Yao Zhengqi? Lei Dao outright refused; that’s impossible!"
"I'll give you part of the information about breaking through Black Porcelain Star first. Once you have it, you can release Tang Zhengsu, and then I'll give you the rest. We only have one life left anyway; if you don't agree, then feel free to make your move!"
Seeing his firm attitude, Max realized there was no need for further threats and exchanged a glance with Lei Dao. "Then tell me where the information is. Once we confirm its authenticity, we’ll release your teammate!"
"It's right under your nose!" Just as he was about to speak, Tang Zhengsu suddenly cried out.
Max, annoyed at the interruption, swiftly knocked him unconscious with a chop and tossed him aside. "Alright, Captain Yao, now there’s no one to disturb you. You can speak!"
The information is right beneath your eyelids! In an instant, Yao Zhengqi changed his tone.
Max was furious. "Are you trying to play me?"
Just as he was about to strike the defenseless Yao Zhengqi, a sudden whistling sound descended from above. A mech crashed down onto his head, causing Max to bleed profusely.
It turned out to be Lin Yao's biological mech.
While everyone else was oblivious, Yao Zhengqi, lying on his back and seeing the mech swoop in, felt emboldened and naturally disregarded Max's threats.
Max was stunned by the blow and was just about to fight back when the mech struck again at the back of his neck, knocking him out cold.
After he fell unconscious, Lin Yao controlled the mech and revealed her face.
Seeing Yao Zhengqi's limbs in such an abnormal state, Lin Yao glared at Lei Dao and the others. "Who did this?"
All eyes turned towards Lei Dao.
Driving the mech, Lei Dao couldn’t gauge her strength and dismissed her due to her young appearance. "I did it. So what?"
"So what? It means an eye for an eye; I’ll pay you back double!"
Lin Yao activated the mech fiercely and charged forward. With its overwhelming power, she swept through the area and quickly knocked Lei Dao down to the ground.
Captain Yao's limbs were all severed, so let's just break both his tendons as well. With that, Lin Yao moved decisively, controlling the mech to crush his limbs completely.
Lei Dao did not possess the same endurance as Yao Zhengqi; he writhed in pain on the ground. As Lin Yao stepped on his bones one by one, he could no longer roll around and could only lie there, staring up at the sky.
She jumped out of the mech, ignoring his agony, and took out a small knife to sever his tendons. After completing this task, she was about to seek trouble with Max when she discovered he had actually woken up and was quickly making his escape.
Just as she intended to chase after him, she was stopped by Yao Zhengqi. "Lin Yao, don’t pursue a desperate enemy!"
What a lucky break for him! Lin Yao cursed under her breath but ultimately refrained from chasing.
She turned her attention back to the lying Yao Zhengqi, uncertain about the extent of his injuries and hesitant to move. "Captain Yao, how are you?"
"I'm fine. You should check on Tang Zhengsu first; I’m not sure if Max secretly did something to him," he replied.
Following his instructions, Lin Yao approached Tang Zhengsu's mental sea and found signs of collapse within it. Unable to hold back her anger, she cursed Max again. Quickly, she used her powerful psychic abilities to consolidate his mental sea and then administered a mental healing potion.
Seeing this, Yao Zhengqi understood immediately. "How serious are his injuries? Is there still hope for him?"
Lin Yao nodded. "Fortunately, I arrived in time to stabilize his condition. However, for further treatment, he will likely need care aboard a starship."
"Then you should take him up," Yao Zhengqi urged.
Lin Yao chuckled lightly. "Captain Yao, what are you saying? In this situation, how could I possibly leave you here alone?"
Saying this, she retrieved a healing pod from the spatial storage and gently placed Yao Zhengqi inside it. "I only have one pod; your external injuries are severe and moving would be inconvenient. So I’ll let you use it first."
Without waiting for him to object, she closed the lid of the healing pod.
Next, she secured the unconscious Tang Zhengsu in her mech's seat before climbing in herself. After activating the mech, she maneuvered it to secure the healing pod at its back.
All mechs were designed with a latch at the rear specifically for securing escape pods, making it easier to assist those who had evacuated from a starship during emergencies.
Once both injured individuals were secured, Lin Yao piloted the mech and shot straight into the sky. The personnel aboard the starship were in disarray, particularly in Zone Three, which lacked a strong presence to maintain order.
Initially, Yao Zhengqi wanted Lin Yao to stay aboard the starship because there were too few top-tier fighters in Zone Three—only the two of them. He hoped Lin Yao would remain above to keep things in check and prevent others from causing chaos.
Lin Yao initially followed his plan, thinking that if things went awry, she could temporarily abandon the idea of having Yao Zhengqi wait on Black Porcelain Star. Once they reached Cloud Dream Star, she would find a chance to organize a rescue.
However, upon hearing Yao Beiluo mention that his lifespan was compromised, she estimated that he was likely holding on through sheer strength, disregarding the safety of the starship to come down and save them. Thankfully, she had come down; otherwise, she feared that both Yao Zhengqi and Tang Zhengsu would not survive until dawn.
With this thought, Lin Yao's gaze darkened. Yet, she remained calm. Black Porcelain Star was right here, and if they could successfully traverse the Chaotic Nebula this time, it would mean they had mastered that technology. The unique martial arts training available here was unparalleled; Cloud Dream Star would certainly not give up on this place, and there would surely be another opportunity to deal with Max.
What worried her more was the situation aboard the starship. She hoped that Koqi wouldn’t discover her absence too soon; otherwise, she couldn’t guarantee the safety of the other members of the special operations team.
As Lin Yao contemplated this, she wished she could immediately eject from the starship. However, considering Tang Zhengsu's injuries and the medical pod behind her, she could only exercise patience and maintain a steady flight.
It took her twice as long to return to the starship. When Lin Yao landed her mech on the starship's landing platform, she called out to the control room, requesting them to open the rear cargo bay. To her surprise, there was no response from the other side.
Her heart sank. Could something have happened to the special operations team?
After a brief moment of silence, a voice came through—Wan Xiaoqi’s voice. "Is it the captain?"
"It’s me. What’s the situation aboard the starship?"
"It’s stable now; Yao Beiluo has managed to secure everything. We just need you to arrive so we can stand down."
