Lu Yuan hurriedly asked, "Junior Brother Qi, what did you see?"
Qi Xiao replied, "I have an idea, but I'm not sure if it's correct. Could you help me dig a hole here?"
"How deep?" Lu Yuan inquired.

Lu Yuan lifted the hoe again.
"What are you two doing?"
They turned to see a girl in foundation-building attire had appeared nearby without them noticing.
Qi Xiao narrowed his eyes slightly. "Actually, we should be asking you. Why are you sneaking up on us?"
As a master of spiritual perception, Qi Xiao was acutely aware of his surroundings, and Lu Yuan, having reached the Golden Core stage, would have sensed her presence if she approached normally.

Qi Xiao leisurely curled his lips into a smile. "Don't you know that the other guards from the Cheng family are already dead?"
The girl froze, her expression changing.
She had seen those people die; that's why she dared to sneak up on them.
"Were they all killed by you?" she asked incredulously.
Qi Xiao nodded. "That's right."

Qi Xiao stroked his chin thoughtfully. "If I kill your family members, do you really think you can drag me down with you to accompany them in death?"
He was at the Foundation Establishment stage, and so was the girl. If she were to explode in rage, pulling Qi Xiao down with her could very well be a possibility.
But why was this idea coming from him?
"No, what are you trying to do? I know you must have some ulterior motive to torment me! Hmph, let me tell you, I won't fall for it!"
"No, you're mistaken. I'm sincerely suggesting this."
"Hmph, I won't be fooled!"
Qi Xiao sighed deeply, a sound that sent chills down the girl's spine.

The tiger had been chasing after Qi Xiao's direction and finally caught up with them here.

Cheng Yuru was taken aback. "I've heard elders mention it; this mountain is rich in ink essence—it's all over! Look, it's that kind of stone."
She pointed at the formation stone.
Ink essence isn't particularly special; most of it is refined into ink sticks for writing, containing very little spiritual energy. The cultivation world generally wouldn't use it for formations. However, if there were enough of it to fill an entire mountain peak, that would be a different story altogether.
