Qi Xiao practiced his swordsmanship in the courtyard as usual when suddenly the door swung open, and a hand emerged. Lu Yuan leaned against the door, looking dazed.
"Junior Brother Qi, why do I feel like I've been asleep for ages? My body feels all limp."
Qi Xiao sighed. "It's not just a feeling; Brother, you've actually been asleep for four or five days."
"What? I only took one bite! How could I sleep for so long?"
"Fortunately, it was just one bite. If you had eaten a few more, it wouldn't have been just sleeping," Qi Xiao replied, shaking his head in disbelief. "Brother, you really are too reckless."
Lu Yuan chuckled, holding his stomach. "I was just so happy! I rarely see such things. When I finally got one, how could I not taste it? Who knew it would have such a strong effect!"
He took a few steps into the courtyard, his energy sinking as he circulated his spiritual power. Flames erupted from his skin, much more vigorous than before.
Even standing four or five steps away, Qi Xiao could feel the scorching waves of heat radiating from him, distorting the air around them due to the high temperature.
Lu Yuan grinned and asked, "Junior Brother Qi, what do you think?"
Qi Xiao felt a surge of competitive spirit from Lu Yuan's display. He stepped back a few paces and clasped his hands with a smile. "I humbly ask for your guidance, Brother Lu."
"Gladly!" Lu Yuan laughed heartily, and the flames around him flared up even more as he swung his fist down towards Qi Xiao.
"Junior Brother, after being idle for four or five days, let me see if your muscles have loosened up."
Qi Xiao swiftly dodged to avoid the blow. In the next moment, another punch came straight for his face but was once again blocked.
"Again!"
Half an hour later, both of them were panting heavily and drenched in sweat.
Lu Yuan was somewhat dissatisfied. "Junior Brother, how come I still can't win against you after eating that?"
Qi Xiao had grown too quickly; Lu Yuan felt an immense pressure as it seemed that every time they met after some time apart, Qi Xiao would show significant growth.
Lu Yuan squinted suspiciously. "You weren't hiding anything from me on purpose, were you?"
Qi Xiao laughed. "Brother, you're overthinking it. While you were sleeping, I didn’t dare to slack off either."
During these days at Miaochun Valley, Qi Xiao mostly spent his time meditating and cultivating in his room.
Lu Yuan approached him with a frown. "Junior Brother, you didn't happen to take some miraculous pill or something, did you? You should share some with your brother!"
Qi Xiao was caught between laughter and tears, truly at a loss.
Lu Yuan, unwilling to back down, assumed a fighting stance, eager for another round.
An hour later, a disciple from Miaochun Valley arrived with a message, stating that Fan Wuyou wanted them to come over.
The two exchanged glances and followed the disciple to Fan Wuyou's courtyard, where Su Lingyue and the others were already waiting.
Upon seeing them, Lu Yuan's surprise was evident on his face. How did they end up here?
Recalling past events, Lu Yuan felt embarrassed for the others, while Qi Xiao and Su Lingyue remained composed, showing no signs of surprise.
Fan Wuyou spoke in a calm tone, "I have issued a summons; all disciples currently out on training need to return immediately. Since they are heading there, you can accompany them."
Before Su Lingyue could respond, Qi Xiao cupped his hands and said, "Master, the Valley Master wishes for the disciples to stay here for another day or two. I cannot go against the good intentions of my elders; may we delay our departure by a day or two?"
Su Lingyue frowned slightly as Feng Hongying let out a cold laugh.
"The Valley Master wants to keep you? You really have the nerve to say that! If you don’t want to join us, just say so. Do you think we would beg you to come along?"
Qi Xiao ignored her and simply lowered his gaze, stating calmly, "What I said is the truth. If the Master does not believe me, you may ask Valley Master Ye for confirmation."
This trivial matter was something Fan Wuyou would not bother asking Ye Qian about.
Moreover, recalling the rumors circulating in the valley and what Ye Qian had privately told him when they met, he felt it was understandable for her to want to keep someone behind.
He nodded in agreement. "Since it is Valley Master Ye's kind intention, then you may stay a few more days."
"Thank you for your grace, Master."
Feng Hongying's eyes widened in disbelief; she had not expected the Master to be swayed by such an obviously false excuse. She immediately interjected, "Master, you can't trust what Qi Xiao says! He claims that Valley Master Ye wants him to stay? Does he think he can just know her whenever he wants?"
"Hmph! Qi Xiao, I advise you not to exaggerate your words; it's easy to hurt yourself!"
Qi Xiao snorted coldly without looking at her and replied indifferently, "If you have so much free time, perhaps you should take care of your own matters first."
Feng Hongying sneered back at him. "Looks like I hit a nerve; you're feeling guilty now?"
Qi Xiao ignored her completely while Feng Hongying reveled in her perceived victory.
In the afternoon, Ye Xiang hosted a farewell banquet in the palace. The various sect leaders had already stayed in Miaochun Valley for quite some time and were planning to leave, so Ye Xiang specially arranged this feast to entertain them, including several disciples who would be departing with their respective masters.
At the banquet, Ye Xiang raised her cup. Since I could not drink alcohol, I substituted tea for wine and wished everyone a safe journey. The guests raised their cups in response and drank heartily. Just then, Feng Hongying suddenly let out a light laugh and said, "Valley Master, I’ve heard that Junior Brother Qi is quite favored by you. You even wish to keep him in the valley for a few more days. My sisters and I are envious but don’t know the reason behind it. We would like to ask the Valley Master for some guidance."
As soon as she finished speaking, Su Lingyue immediately tugged at her sleeve and shot her a sharp glance. However, Feng Hongying ignored her and provocatively turned her gaze toward Qi Xiao.
Qi Xiao let out a cold laugh but did not respond to her. The more attention one gave to Feng Hongying, the more spirited she became.
Ye Xiang sat at the head of the table, observing the undercurrents between them with clarity. She smiled gently. "What’s so surprising about it? Qi Xiao is straightforward and clear-minded; it’s only natural for him to be favored by his elders."
Ye Xiang continued, "As for me, being older now, I really dislike having younger ones playing tricks in front of me."
Feng Hongying had been waiting to see a joke unfold but was taken aback by Ye Xiang's affirmative response. Ye Xiang didn’t deny her intention to keep Qi Xiao around; instead, she acknowledged her fondness for him.
Feng Hongying was momentarily stunned, unable to grasp the implications behind this revelation. She then noticed that both of her senior sisters were looking at her with stern expressions. What was wrong?
Ye Xiang turned her head to chat quietly with the leader of Qianyuan Sect seated at the lower end of the table. Finally finding an opportunity, Su Lingyue scolded Feng Hongying in a low voice. "Do you enjoy embarrassing yourself that much?"
Feng Hongying felt indignant and was about to argue that she hadn’t embarrassed herself when she caught Su Lingyue’s cold glare directed at her.
"Are you still unconvinced? Do you think what Valley Master just said was directed at whom?"
Feng Hongying pondered over those words carefully and immediately felt her face turn pale, realizing how embarrassing it truly was.
"Usually everyone indulges you, but do you really think that your little schemes are so obvious that Valley Master wouldn’t notice?"
Feng Hongying felt disgruntled.
