The White Moth always behaves this way! If they could truly accomplish what they claim, why would they even come to discuss it? They might as well just join directly.
Knowing they were incapable of achieving what they said, the White Moth didn't waste any more breath. If there were no further questions, they would begin this afternoon. I remember this time frame is about a day; if any issues arise during that period, you can reach out to me, including matters that seem unsolvable.
His words carried a strong sense of disdain, yet they had no rebuttal. It was frustrating to deal with someone younger than themselves who was so arrogant, but there was nothing they could do about it. They couldn't just go over and give him a beating.
"Are there bullets in the gun?" A sudden voice broke the tension in the meeting room.
Everyone turned to look at Lin Yuanfang, who had spoken up. The voice was unfamiliar to them, and they glanced at him in unison. The White Moth, who had been preparing to leave, paused in his tracks. He turned his head, a look of confusion on his face.
"Who are you?"
"Qu Lin Yuan."
The White Moth's expression shifted to one of realization. "I remember you; you're the one recommended by Team Leader Zhang Yaozhi, right? Just like him, you're quite impulsive. But my conditions aren't as easy to meet as you might think. However, since I've said it, I must give the young people a chance."
In other words, if someone else had brought it up first, he might not have agreed. After all, he couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of the youth.
However, the White Moth had other matters to attend to at the moment, so he instructed the other officers to take them to the shooting range and promised to inform him of the results later.
The officer following the White Moth felt a bit anxious; from this office, they could see what was happening below. "I heard that Lin Yuan is a rising star in our city; is it really okay to leave things like this?"
"Good or bad will be known soon enough. Just focus on your own tasks," he replied.
Advisor Qu and the others were capable of achieving what he had just mentioned. If Lin Yuan couldn't meet the standards, they certainly wouldn't accept someone who would hold them back; when danger arose, it could be life-threatening.
With the White Moth having spoken up, the officer fell silent.
Once they arrived at the shooting range, aside from Lin Yuan, Jiang Jinchuan and several other advisors were also eager to give it a try. The range was divided into fixed and moving modes; you could choose based on your needs. Advisor Lin needed to meet standards in both modes.
Although other police stations had dedicated shooting training rooms, it seemed these advisors hadn't utilized them much.
"Lin Yuan, if you can't do it, don't force yourself," Jiang Jinchuan advised.
"I know what I'm doing."
Fortunately, there was enough space available. To help Lin Yuan learn from their experience, Jiang Jinchuan even gave him a demonstration. Despite his somewhat delicate appearance, Jiang Jinchuan's shooting skills were impressive.
A shot rang out, hitting a perfect nine-ring target. Despite it being a stationary target, this was already an impressive score. Next up was Lin Yuan.
Having practiced countless times in the crime simulation space, he might not have received formal training from an instructor, but there were advantages to his unconventional methods. Most notably, he had gained a wealth of practical experience.
The moment Lin Yuan picked up the pistol, a familiar sensation coursed through his body. Indeed, the skills he had honed in the simulation translated perfectly to reality.

The sound of gunfire echoed, and it didn’t stop there. Lin Yuan's physical strength had adapted to the recoil, allowing him to continue shooting. Even those around him displayed expressions of surprise. Every bullet fired was recorded; technology had advanced far beyond what the human eye could perceive.
Ten shots rang out in quick succession, capturing the attention of Bai Ling above. The electronic screen soon displayed Lin Yuan's results.

Staring at the large numbers on the screen, it wasn’t just Jiang Jinchuan who was stunned; even the officers beside him showed signs of astonishment. Their best sharpshooters couldn’t guarantee such a score. Once or twice might be luck, but this couldn’t possibly be mere chance.
Coughing slightly, Jiang Jinchuan announced that it was time to move on. He led Lin Yuan toward another area while several advisors exchanged glances in disbelief. When did a newcomer become so formidable?
If this continued, they wouldn’t even know how they ended up defeated on the battlefield.
As expected, Lin Yuan’s subsequent scores were all bullseyes, with hardly a single miss.
Daring to ask, one advisor inquired, “Mr. Lin, have you had any prior shooting training? Or do you have relatives in our police department?”
From any angle, he didn’t seem like a novice at all.
Lin Yuan shook his head. “This is my first time shooting in a real environment; perhaps I just have a natural talent.”
Just a natural talent? Those words sparked envy among those around him. If that were the case, Lin Yuan might even surpass Bai Ling in skill!
Suddenly realizing something, Jiang Jinchuan reassured him, “Don’t worry, I’ve already informed Advisor Bai about your results. You can head up first.”
As for whether he was formidable or not? That wasn’t his concern anymore.
“Alright, thank you.”
After finishing their conversation, they followed him upstairs. Little did they know that the police officer behind them was looking at Lin Yuan with a far less innocent gaze.
Indeed, there were consultants in the district, and for now, these three consultants seemed sufficient. However, their Criminal Investigation Team was severely understaffed. If Lin Yuan ultimately failed to impress them, they could easily take over—something they would welcome with open arms!
Feeling pleased with this thought, he noticed that the video had already been sent to the group chat. He figured he could afford to run a few less laps tonight.
Inside the office, Bai Ling raised her head from a table full of photographs upon hearing that Lin Yuan had achieved a grand slam. "Really?"
"If you want to see the video, we have it here," said the officer as he handed her his phone.
"Since that's the case, I won't watch it," Bai Ling declined, pushing his hand away. "Just send me a separate clip of the video and prepare a copy of the materials I have on hand. Also, give him my contact information."
The officer understood who she was referring to and nodded. "Alright, I'll go get the materials now."
At that moment, Lin Yuan and the others were just arriving upstairs. Jiang Jinchuan was still staring at him in awe.
"You're this impressive without any basic training? If you were in the Criminal Investigation Team, they'd probably award you a sharpshooter title."
"It's just a bit of luck; it's nothing worth mentioning," Lin Yuan replied modestly.
"If it weren't for thinking that acting alongside the district consultants would be more beneficial for me, I wouldn't have showcased my abilities," he added.
Don't call it luck; if it's your skill, it's your skill. Why don't we have your kind of luck, right? Though his words carried a hint of envy, they expressed what was on their minds.
Lin Yuan smiled in response; as long as there was an explanation, that was enough for him.
When they pushed open the door and entered, they saw Bai Ling sitting amidst a pile of papers, having just set down her pen. She looked up and said, "You're here? Please take a seat."
