At that moment, the door was burst open. Jiao Feng rushed in and forcefully pushed Gao Jian aside. I took deep breaths of fresh air.
" Teacher Ma, you..." Jiao Feng looked at me, his eyes reddening again. "You... he..."
He stammered for a long time but couldn't utter a complete sentence.
"Jiao Feng, you should go outside first," I said, lowering my eyelids. "I'm fine."
"But..." Jiao Feng glanced at me and then at Gao Jian.
"Go out," I emphasized.
Jiao Feng gritted his teeth and stepped outside.
Gao Jian, now sober, forced a smile and said, "Wife, I... I just drank too much..."
"Get lost!" I grabbed a pillow and threw it at him with all my might.
Gao Jian quickly picked up the pillow and set it aside, carefully curling up with the blanket on the floor. He fell asleep.
I turned off the light and lay down as well. Jiao Feng stayed vigilantly outside the door.
The next morning, I went to open the door for Jiao Feng.
Seeing me, he anxiously asked, " Teacher Ma, last night... did you really intend to kill him?"
I sighed. "How could that be? I can't possibly overpower him."
"Then you..." Jiao Feng was taken aback.
I spoke softly, "I did it on purpose."
"What?" Jiao Feng didn't quite grasp it.
"I did it on purpose," I repeated. "I wanted him to experience a fate worse than death."
Jiao Feng furrowed his brow. "What do you mean?"
I laid everything about Tong Qianqian on the table.
Jiao Feng listened, and after a long pause, murmured, "So that's how it is..."
"Qianqian's leg shouldn't have been broken," I sighed. "It's all my fault."
Jiao Feng's eyes turned red. "If I hadn't hit her, she wouldn't have broken her leg..."
"It's not your fault," I comforted him. "Teacher Ma, you..." Jiao Feng looked at me, hesitating to speak.
I knew what he wanted to ask.
Calmly, I replied, "I plan to kill him. But it's not the right time yet."
"Why?" Jiao Feng became anxious. "He killed your brother and your best friend. Are you still holding onto some kind of marital bond?"
"Of course not," I shook my head. "I have my own plans."
"What plans?" Jiao Feng asked eagerly.
"You'll find out when the time comes," I sighed. "Jiao Feng, please don't act impulsively, okay?"
"Don't worry, I'll listen to you," Jiao Feng nodded repeatedly. "I'll do whatever you say."
I smiled softly and said, "Do you remember Qianqian?"
"I remember," Jiao Feng nodded.
"Qianqian is my best friend," I reminisced. "We were inseparable throughout high school."
"She often came over to my house for dinner. She always said my mom cooked well. She even said she wished she had a mom like mine." I sighed again, "Back then, I knew Qianqian wasn't living well at home."
Tong Qianqian was the niece of my parents' boss. Her family was well-off. But having come from a complicated family myself, my personality was multifaceted. Yet, Tong Qianqian treated me exceptionally well.
She never hesitated to buy me things; she treated me like her best friend. During the time when my family fell apart and I couldn't afford my tuition, it was her who helped me. She told me that I was her family.
So when she said she wanted to be with Gao Jian, I felt an overwhelming urge to kill her. I hated that she didn't listen to me. I hated that she couldn't see through people. Gao Jian was a jerk.
Yet, she cherished him like a treasure. For Gao Jian, she gave up her studies and supported him in starting a business. She believed that with her by his side, he would turn his life around. Little did she know, Gao Jian was nothing but an ungrateful wretch!
I had deep feelings for Tong Qianqian. So when I discovered that Gao Jian was the one who caused Tong Qianqian's demise, my hatred reached its peak.
