Qin Huairu stomped her way to the courtyard, still fuming, and shot a fierce glare at Wang Jiefang as she passed by.
Wang Jiefang looked a bit confused. Seeing that both Qin and the little girl were angry, Sha Zhu glared at Wang Jiefang as well. "Wang blind man, this is all your fault! Just you wait, I won't let you off easy!"
Wang Jiefang scoffed, "I'll be waiting to see how you plan to not let me off! By the way, how's your little problem?"
Mentioning his own issue made Sha Zhu's face turn even redder with anger. "Hmph! I don't have time to argue with you right now; let's see what happens!"
With that, Sha Zhu hurried off to chase after Qin Huairu, but his awkward gait—still walking with his legs spread apart—made him look quite comical. Clearly, he was still in pain!
Heaven help Sha Zhu; he had clashed with the deaf old lady, and even though it was his grandmother who had scolded him, Wang Jiefang sensed that the night would not be peaceful. Thus, he started cooking early.
Wang Jiefang's grandmother watched as her grandson completed all the steps of cooking by himself. Only now did she feel completely reassured; she believed her grandson could definitely handle the role of head chef at the street office!
"What smells so good? Who's making braised pork? This aroma is simply irresistible!"
This delightful scent could only come from Sha Zhu’s cooking, right?
Wait a minute, I’ve tasted Sha Zhu’s braised pork before, and it didn’t smell like this. Hmm? There’s another fragrance; it smells like chicken! Spicy and fragrant! Oh no, I can’t help it—my mouth is watering!
But wait, this aroma is coming from the front courtyard. Wang Jiefang is the chef there; could it be that these delicious smells are coming from his cooking?
How could that be? Isn’t he blind? How could he find where the pots are?
Despite their disbelief, they still glanced over at Wang Jiefang’s house. "Oh my! It really is Wang Jiefang cooking! But isn’t he blind? How did he make such delicious-smelling food? If we don’t taste it, it must be even better!"
Meanwhile, in the middle courtyard, Sha Zhu was feeling frustrated as he thought of ways to win Qin’s forgiveness when he suddenly caught a whiff of something: "Is that braised pork? Huh? And chicken? How did they make it so spicy and fragrant? I’ve never seen this kind of cooking before! No way—I have to see who made this food; their skills are almost on par with mine!"
In terms of culinary skills, Sha Zhu was quite proud!
He followed the scent to Wang Jiefang’s door and was immediately stunned: "How could this possibly be cooked by that blind man? No way; it must be that old lady from the Wang family cooking!"
Since it was food from the Wang family, Sha Zhu lost interest in checking further.
The little girl began to whine upon smelling the delicious aroma. "Mama, I want to eat meat!"
Qin Huairu coaxed her gently, "Be good, Sha Geng. The doctor said you can only eat porridge for now. Once you’re better, I’ll have Sha Zhu cook some meat for you! Otherwise, your tummy will hurt again!"
Thinking about how painful her stomach had been before made Sha Geng give up on wanting meat: "It’s all Sha Zhu’s fault for making me miss out on meat! Mama, you have to make that fool cook braised pork for me later; I also want chicken!"
"Alright, Mama promises you. This is all Sha Zhu’s debt to us; we’ll make him pay later."
As Yi Zhonghai entered the front courtyard, he too caught a whiff of the delicious smell and assumed it was Sha Zhu cooking until he heard Wang Jiefang say: "Grandma, let’s scoop some braised pork and spicy chicken into a bowl for Da Mao!"
"Alright, my good grandson, just stay at home. I'll go deliver it!"
Yi Zhonghai paused in the front yard, watching as Wang Jiefang's grandmother walked past him, carrying two bowls of dishes. The aroma wafting from the bowls was unmistakable; this was no ordinary cooking by Shazhu. These were dishes from the Wang family!
As he observed Wang Jiefang's grandmother pass by without even acknowledging him, his already dark expression grew even darker.
