Wang Jiefang, how about you prepare another dish? President Chen did not comment on Wang Jiefang's braised carp; instead, he asked him to make another dish!
Of course, Wang Jiefang had to listen to the judges. This time, he made braised lion's head!
After completing the dish, the judges tasted it one by one and nodded to each other. President Chen smiled at Wang Jiefang and announced, "Congratulations, Wang Jiefang! After unanimous agreement from our Chef Association judges, you are now recognized as a first-class chef! We will award you the first-class chef certificate!"
Even though Wang Jiefang had an inkling of this outcome, he was still excited to receive the first-class chef certificate. "Thank you, esteemed judges!" he exclaimed.
President Chen stepped forward and shook Wang Jiefang's hand. "Young Wang, you are a talented chef and the youngest first-class chef in the history of our culinary world. I hope you do not become complacent and continue to work hard to refine your culinary skills, striving to achieve the title of master chef soon!"
At that moment, Wang Jiefang's master approached them. "Haha, apprentice, you truly did not let me down! What do you think, Old Chen? I told you my apprentice has what it takes to be a first-class chef; why were you hesitant to agree?"
President Chen shot a glance at the smug Wang Deshan. "What are you so proud of? Young Wang's achievements are solely due to his talent. Even if he learned from anyone present here, he would not be worse off than he is now!"
"Haha, Old Chen, you're just jealous! After all, Jiefang is my direct disciple!" Wang Deshan retorted.
The other chefs present, including those who came for the assessment, also tasted the dishes prepared by Wang Jiefang and were thoroughly impressed with his culinary skills. Such talent deserved a first-class certificate!
After receiving his certificate from the Chef Association, Wang Jiefang and his wife were taken by their master to a nearby restaurant to celebrate!
After two hours of celebration, his master even packed two dishes for Wang Jiefang to take home for his grandmother. Wang Jiefang didn't hesitate to accept them!
When they returned to their courtyard, they saw Shazhu leaning on a cane at the entrance, looking as if he was waiting for someone.
Upon seeing Wang Jiefang and his wife arrive, Shazhu perked up. "Oh, I said Wang Blindman, how's it going? Is your chef certificate still intact? Hehe! If you've lost it, I wonder if the street office will still want you!"
Wang Jiefang couldn't be bothered with Shazhu's gloating demeanor and pulled his wife away before she could argue with him.
What an idiot!
Shazhu deliberately wanted Wang Jiefang to know that it was him who reported him and caused him to lose his certificate; he wanted to see Wang Jiefang's furious reaction!
However, all he received in return was a cold response from Wang Jiefang. Although he didn't understand what "idiot" meant, he knew that being called an idiot couldn't be good! Infuriated, Shazhu thought about confronting Wang Jiefang but ultimately hesitated after recalling their previous encounters.
Knowing that he couldn't win against Wang Jiefang in a fight made Shazhu question why he dared to provoke him openly. This idea came from Yi Zhonghai; as long as Wang Jiefang dared to make a move, Shazhu would call the police. At that point, he could make sure that Wang Jiefang would have to pay him a sum of money! If things got serious enough, perhaps they could even send him away!
Shazhu hadn't been able to witness Wang Jiefang's assessment due to his broken leg; thus, he assumed that Wang Jiefang must have failed and lost his chef certificate!
This also highlighted the difference between Shazhu as a wild cook and those serious chefs with proper apprenticeships. Serious chefs had many brothers and mentors who would help each other out in times of need.
As news of Shazhu reporting Wang Jiefang spread within the Chef Association, no one ever came forward to support Shazhu. As for Shazhu's own master at Fengze Garden? Sorry, but Tian Futang had no intention of contacting an apprentice who vanished without a word for over ten years!
