Liu Haizhong and Yi Zhonghai were a blacksmith and a mechanic, respectively, both possessing considerable strength. At first, Liu Haizhong had the upper hand thanks to Yan Bugui, but as Yan Bugui fell, Yi Zhonghai, fueled by his fierce determination, managed to turn the tables.
Moreover, Yi Zhonghai was resorting to underhanded tactics! Liu Haizhong could see that he was about to be overwhelmed.
At the beginning, when Shagang saw Yi Zhonghai struggling, he wanted to help. However, glancing at his injured leg, he feared that rushing in might worsen his condition. So he could only stand by anxiously. But when he saw Yi Zhonghai gaining the upper hand, he relaxed and began to enjoy the spectacle.
"Stop!"
With a furious shout, Director Wang rushed over with her team. She had originally intended to address the issues concerning the three gentlemen but had hurried over upon hearing about the fight.
Upon arriving at the scene and seeing her appointed manager involved in a brawl, she was taken aback.
Hearing Director Wang's angry roar, both Yi Zhonghai and Liu Haizhong immediately fell silent.
"Director, I just got off work and was blocked at the door by Liu Haizhong and Yan Bugui. Liu Haizhong attacked me first, and I had no choice but to retaliate!" Yi Zhonghai complained.
Director Wang ignored Yi Zhonghai's attempt to shift blame. To her, it didn’t matter who struck first; what mattered was that as managers of the courtyard, fighting was an extremely unacceptable behavior.
"Enough, Yi Zhonghai! Do you think you can justify fighting as managers? I was considering your appointments, but that's no longer necessary. I hereby announce that from today onwards, you three are no longer managers. The courtyard will be managed by the street office. If you have any issues, go find me at the street office!"
Yan Bugui felt unjustly treated upon hearing Director Wang's words. "Director, I didn’t participate in the fight; I was just trying to mediate! I haven’t done anything wrong; you can’t take away my position!"
"Yan Bugui, do you think we're fools? You were indeed trying to mediate? You were clearly siding with Liu Haizhong! You thought you could play both sides and then claim innocence afterward! Let me tell you, your actions also constitute participation in the fight! What’s wrong with revoking your position?"
Yan Bugui turned red with embarrassment; he thought his little schemes were hidden from others but realized that Director Wang saw right through him.
"Director, my foot was broken when Yi Zhonghai stepped on it! He must compensate me for medical expenses and lost wages!" Yan Bugui complained to Director Wang.
"This is not my concern. If you want compensation, go ask Yi Zhonghai for it. If negotiations fail, report it to the police!" Director Wang dismissed their quarrel.
"Did you hear that, Yi Zhonghai? You must compensate me; otherwise, I’ll call the police on you!" Yan Bugui taunted Yi Zhonghai with an air of arrogance.
"Ouch! My foot!" Yan Bugui had gotten a bit too cocky; as he squatted down to cope with the pain in his foot and then stood up again in his bravado, he felt a sharp pain shoot through him once more.
"Boss! Second Brother! Third Brother! Hurry and take me to the hospital!"
Director Wang shook her head as she watched Yan Bugui being helped away. She then looked at Yi Zhonghai and Liu Haizhong with disappointment before leaving.
Wang Jiefang happened to finish work at that moment and saw everything unfold alongside his grandmother and wife.
As he left, he could still feel the resentful gazes of Liu Haizhong and Yi Zhonghai directed at him. They believed that all of this stemmed from Wang Jiefang and Shazhu!
If it weren't for Shazhu shouting about Wang Jiefang's chef certification being revoked, Yi Zhonghai and those young men wouldn’t have stirred up trouble!
Had Wang Jiefang presented his first-class chef certificate from the very beginning of the commotion, they wouldn’t have gone looking for trouble at the street office!
In any case, it's all those two idiots' fault!
After Wang Jiefang left, the two of them glared at Sha Zhu. Sha Zhu knew that this was all his doing, and he awkwardly looked at Yi Zhonghai. "That old man, I didn't know that blind guy was so capable. He should have been issued a chef's certificate!"
