As the end of the workday approached, Sha Zhu stood up from his chair and headed towards the small storage room.
"Master, what are you going to do in the small storage room?" Ma Hua asked with concern.
"Mind your own business," Sha Zhu replied impatiently. Seeing his demeanor, the kitchen staff dared not question him further about his trip to the small storage room.
Once inside, Sha Zhu closed the door behind him and began to fill a cloth bag with flour. After estimating that he had packed about five pounds, he stopped and tied the bag shut. This cloth bag was long and tubular in shape.
Sha Zhu wrapped the bag around his waist and secured it, then threw on a loose outer garment. If one didn’t pay close attention, they would hardly notice anything unusual.
After making sure there were no flaws in his disguise, he stepped out of the small storage room. As soon as he emerged, everyone in the kitchen turned to look at him.
"What are you staring at? It’s almost time to clock out; have you all finished cleaning up?" Sha Zhu glared at them, prompting the kitchen staff to resume their tasks. Only Liu Lan muttered under her breath, "What are you up to in the small storage room? I wonder if you're up to no good!"
Noticing that no one was watching him anymore, Sha Zhu quickly placed some chicken and pork into a lunchbox before turning to leave the kitchen.
Sha Zhu had a knack for timing. Just as he hobbled towards the front door, the closing bell rang!
He thought about how happy Qin Jie would be when she saw that he had brought her flour. Lost in thought, he unconsciously hummed a little tune.
What he didn’t realize was that in the security office, the head of security was standing cautiously behind two middle-aged men. Dressed in Zhongshan suits, these men had serious expressions and deep-set eyes that exuded an intimidating presence.
When Sha Zhu appeared, the head of security informed them, "That man leaning on a cane is Sha Zhu! I heard he broke his leg about a month ago and has been resting at home. I’m not sure why he decided to come back to work today."
The two men turned their attention to Sha Zhu, particularly fixating on his lunchbox for a moment. Based on their experience, they knew those two lunchboxes were definitely not empty!
"Bring Sha Zhu over here," one of them said calmly to the head of security.
"Understood, leaders!" The head of security responded and signaled to his deputy. The deputy led the two men out.
"Hey! Old Wu is on patrol!" Sha Zhu cheerfully greeted Deputy Wu with a smile.
"Comrade He Yu Zhu, we need to ask you something. Please come with me to the security office," Deputy Wu said without acknowledging Sha Zhu's cheerful demeanor and directly invited him.
Now aware of how serious Deputy Wu looked and noticing how the two men subtly surrounded him, Sha Zhu knew this was not going to end well!
"Deputy Section Chief Wu, if you have something to ask, just ask it here. There's no need to go to the security room, right? I still need to hurry home to cook for the old lady in our courtyard," Shazhu awkwardly explained, trying to leave. However, with just a glance from Deputy Section Chief Wu, the two men accompanying him grabbed Shazhu.
Of course, Shazhu wasn't going to let them take him easily.
"What are you doing!? I said I need to go home and cook! Be careful, or I'll tell Factory Director Yang! You know, Factory Director Yang values me a lot!"
