The people in the courtyard all avoided provoking Jia Zhangshi, especially since that room belonged to Shazhu. If the Jia family wanted to take it, it was none of their business, so they didn't bother to intervene any further.
Since his return, Banggeng had been running outside more often. Sometimes he would encounter Wang Jiefang and shoot him a cold glare. Wang Jiefang, feeling that Banggeng hadn't done anything yet, chose to ignore him for the time being. However, he kept a close watch on him in secret. If Banggeng ever showed any harmful intentions towards his family, Wang Jiefang would deal with him before he could act.
Bangggeng hadn't just been wandering aimlessly during these days out; he had reconnected with friends he met in the juvenile detention center and successfully integrated himself into their group, which was commonly referred to as street punks. For the past few days, these street punk friends had been treating him to meals. Banggeng felt embarrassed about always being treated but had no money to reciprocate.
He realized that since he had stolen money from home and lost it all, his family was now broke. Thus, he stopped expecting any financial support from them. Now, Banggeng found himself worrying about money.
While fretting over finances, he noticed Yi Zhonghai's house and his eyes lit up. After two years of education in the detention center, Banggeng was no longer the clueless child he used to be; he understood that Yi Zhonghai must have saved quite a bit from all those years of working hard.
"Yi Zhonghai," he thought, "I’m broke! Give me some money!"
After a long day at work, Yi Zhonghai returned home and had just sat down to eat when the door was kicked open. Banggeng barged in and immediately demanded money.
Hearing Banggeng's words made Yi Zhonghai furious; veins bulged on his neck. "You little brat! Who do you think you're talking to? You have no respect! Get out of here!"
Bangggeng wasn't intimidated by Yi Zhonghai anymore. "Don't give me that nonsense! You got me locked up in juvenile detention for two years! I’m broke now; you have to give me money! Otherwise, I won’t let this go!"
Seeing Banggeng still calling him "little master" and directly addressing him by name infuriated Yi Zhonghai even more. He stood up and slapped Banggeng across the face. Having spent two years fighting in detention, Banggeng had learned quite a few fighting techniques.
As Yi Zhonghai's hand came toward him, Banggeng stepped back to dodge it and then kicked Yi Zhonghai right where it hurt the most. In that moment, Yi Zhonghai experienced the same pain that Xu Damao felt when Shazhu kicked him!
Yi Zhonghai doubled over in agony on the floor, clutching himself while cold sweat dripped from his forehead. Yi Dama rushed over to check on him.
Seeing Yi Zhonghai down on the ground, Banggeng ignored him and headed straight for Yi Zhonghai's bedroom. With his experience, he quickly found where Yi Zhonghai kept his money.
He stuffed all the cash into his pockets and as he left, he noticed Yi Zhonghai still lying on the floor. He spat on the ground disdainfully and said, "Hmph! Yi Zhonghai, you don’t even have a son; keeping all this money is a waste! I’m just doing a good deed by taking it off your hands. Who knows? When you’re old and can’t move anymore, maybe I’ll even give you a bowl of rice out of pity for having taken your money!"
Bangggeng’s words nearly made Yi Zhonghai choke with rage! After a while, once he regained his composure, Yi Zhonghai turned to Yi Dama angrily and said, "Dear, go report this to the police! I will make sure this little bastard goes back inside!"
The commotion caused by Banggeng kicking down Yi Zhonghai's door attracted quite a crowd from the courtyard. Qin Huairu and Jia Zhangshi were standing at their doorstep; they watched Banggeng's actions without saying a word.
Upon hearing that Yi Zhonghai wanted to call the police, Jia Zhangshi let out a loud cry: "You heartless bastard! My grandson just got back and you want to send him away again? I’ll fight you for this!"
