Wang Jiefang and He Yushui only realized after meeting that she had returned to the textile city after severing ties with Shazhu. She had been in a state of despair for quite some time before managing to pull herself together. Eventually, through some matchmaking, she married a colleague from the same factory. Little did she know that this seemingly honest man at work turned out to be a mama's boy after they got married.
At home, he listened to his mother for everything, and his mother had a strong dislike for He Yushui, who was just an ordinary daughter-in-law. Under her instigation, her husband began to nitpick at her as well. After He Yushui gave birth to a daughter, her mother-in-law's attitude worsened even more. In fact, her mother-in-law even started encouraging her son to hit her!
At that time, women generally didn’t consider divorce, so He Yushui could only endure the torment from her mother-in-law and husband, with her daughter suffering alongside her. The little girl was terrified of seeing her grandmother and father, as if they were villains. What she didn’t realize was that the more she behaved like this, the less her grandmother and father liked her.
He Yushui had no intention of getting a divorce, but she never expected that her peculiar mother-in-law would find a new daughter-in-law whom she deemed suitable for her son! To welcome this new bride into their home, they planned to kick He Yushui out! Of course, He Yushui was unwilling to leave. However, this mother-son duo somehow found out about Shazhu's past!
This made matters worse; the neighbors who had initially sympathized with He Yushui began to despise her when they learned about her brother being in prison. They strongly supported the idea of her husband divorcing her! Seeing that things had escalated to this point, He Yushui felt disheartened and agreed to the divorce on one condition: she would take her daughter with her.
Her mother-in-law was not easy to deal with and would never let her take away her granddaughter so easily, even though she didn’t like the girl much! In the end, it was the new bride-to-be who offered a deal: He Yushui could take her daughter if she gave up her job position!
He Yushui gritted her teeth and agreed to this demand. She knew that if she didn’t take her daughter away, there was a chance that the girl wouldn’t survive in that household! After leaving with her daughter but without a job—and because of Shazhu’s influence, her reputation in that area had also suffered—He Yushui had no choice but to move far away from the textile city’s residential area.
Relying on odd jobs and help from the local community office, He Yushui managed to scrape by until now. When she heard that there was a job opening for waitstaff with good pay, she eagerly prepared to give it a try! Upon arrival, however, she found out they were only hiring those aged eighteen or younger; clearly, she was overqualified. Disheartened, she turned to leave when Wang Jiefang happened to see her!
Without needing He Yushui to say anything, Wang Jiefang could tell that she hadn’t been doing well; after all, they grew up in the same neighborhood and had no conflicts between them. So he simply offered He Yushui a temporary job as a kitchen helper!
If He Yushui was willing to work hard, there was no telling what opportunities might arise for her in the future. Surely things would get better for her!
“Oh! I say, Master Yan, what’s got you so happy?” Xu Damao joked as he returned home from work and saw Yan Bugui looking particularly cheerful!
