Shazhu glared at Yan Dugui, saying, "Old Yan, that's not right. You're the one who offered to host the banquet for me, so why are you asking me for money? You know I just got out; do you think I have any money? Why don't you cover it for me first? I'll pay you back when I have the cash."
Hearing Shazhu suggest that he cover the expenses, Yan Dugui's face fell. "Shazhu, I don't have any money either! Besides, it's your banquet; how can I do all the work and pay for it too?"
Shazhu shrugged. "Old Yan, you brought up the banquet. I don’t have any money; as my good neighbor, can’t you lend me a little? I promise to pay you back later!"
Yan Dugui, who even charged interest when lending money to his own son, was not about to lend anything to Shazhu. It was clear from Shazhu's tone that he had no intention of paying him back!
Yan Dugui turned and headed outside. "Shazhu, if you don’t have money, then fine. I just remembered that I need to check on the water at home; it should be boiling by now!"
The onlookers watched as Yan Dugui left in a fluster, filled with disdain. They had hoped for a meal but ended up disappointed.
Just then, Yi Zhonghai squeezed through the crowd with tears in his eyes as he looked at Shazhu. "Shazhu, you’re here? That’s great! You’ve suffered so much over the years!"
Shazhu shot him a cold glance. "Yeah, I'm here. What’s so surprising about that?"
"Why are you talking to me like that? Do you know how much that hurts my heart?" Yi Zhonghai clutched his chest dramatically.
Shazhu felt goosebumps rise and quickly waved his hand at Yi Zhonghai. "Stop! Yi Zhonghai, who are you putting on this act for? It’s only been ten years since we last met; why do you look like a eunuch now?"
Upon hearing Shazhu's words, Yi Zhonghai's expression changed immediately, and someone in the crowd shouted, "Shazhu, don’t you know? Yi Zhonghai really is a eunuch now! Hahaha! You’ll get used to seeing him like this!"
"No way! Yi Zhonghai, you really became a eunuch? Hahaha! That’s just too good! Heaven has eyes!"
The crowd was taken aback by Shazhu's reaction to Yi Zhonghai’s predicament. Wasn’t he supposed to be concerned about him? Why did he seem so gleeful?
"Shazhu! You! After all my worry for you, this is how you treat me? You’re nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing!"
Yi Zhonghai’s voice grew higher with anger as he unconsciously lifted his pinky finger in indignation.
The crowd felt a shiver run down their spines!
Shazhu shook his body dismissively. "Pah! Yi Zhonghai, are you calling me a wolf in sheep's clothing? If it weren’t for you calling the police back then, would I have ended up in jail?"
"Worried about me? What a joke! If you were really worried about me, why didn’t you visit me in prison once over these ten years?"
Yi Zhonghai was left speechless by Shazhu's accusations and tried to change the subject. "You being in jail wasn’t my fault! If that blind man hadn’t attacked you, would I have called the police? Everything I did was for your own good!"
"Enough of that, Yi Zhonghai. You don’t need to explain; both you and that blind man share responsibility for my imprisonment—neither of you can escape blame!"
"Heh, now that you've seen me out and are rushing to find me, isn’t it just because you're looking out for your retirement? We both know what’s going on! But why should I support a eunuch like you?"
After spending years in prison, Shazhu had seen through Yi Zhonghai’s intentions and exposed them without mercy!
Seeing his plan for retirement unraveling before him and being humiliated by Shazhu's words, Yi Zhonghai spat out a mouthful of blood in frustration!
As Yi Zhonghai stumbled and nearly fell, the people around him began to retreat, keeping their distance. Yi Zhonghai looked at their reactions and let out a bitter smile, then braced himself and swayed his way back home.
