"Hey! Do you think Zhao Wu and the others will face retaliation after what they did to Sha Zhu that day, when they pinned him down and let Xu Da Mao strip him?"
"Well, considering Sha Zhu's temperament, it's quite possible he might seek revenge on them!"
The faces of those who had held Sha Zhu down changed at this remark. They certainly didn't want to be on the receiving end of Sha Zhu's wrath. They huddled together and decided that from now on, whether at work or off duty, they would stick together as much as possible. They resolved to never go out alone at night; if they had to go out, they would bring a few others along to ensure Sha Zhu wouldn't have the chance to retaliate.
Meanwhile, Sha Zhu was taken to the police station, and the investigating officers were starting to feel troubled.
"Chief, how should we handle this case involving He Yu Zhu?"
The police chief furrowed his brow as he reviewed the case file. "Since Sha Zhu hit Xu Da Mao with a surprise attack, we can classify this as intentional retaliation and public disorder."
But the key issue was that Sha Zhu had actually assaulted Xu Da Mao! If it were a few years ago, they could have charged him with hooliganism, but now that the country had revised its laws, hooliganism was no longer an option!
Charging him with sexual assault didn't seem appropriate either since both individuals were male. This was a tricky situation; even in the twenty-first century, there was no legal precedent for how to handle cases of male sexual assault!
In the end, the police station decided to pass this difficult case on to the court. After all, their job was just to apprehend criminals; sentencing was up to the judiciary!
The court found itself in a similar predicament. After extensive deliberation, they concluded that while Sha Zhu's actions did not constitute sexual assault, he had knowingly engaged in risky behavior by having relations with Xu Da Mao while being aware of his illness. This fell under malicious virus transmission!
Sha Zhu's case marked a first for the court regarding intentional virus transmission, leading them to impose the maximum sentence. Furthermore, since Sha Zhu had previously been released early and committed another crime, he received a three-year prison sentence.
It seemed unbelievable—Sha Zhu had barely been out for a few days before he was back behind bars. He hadn’t expected such a harsh sentence; in his mind, he had merely retaliated against Xu Da Mao with a single blow and thought he would only face a few days of detention!
As for forcing himself on Xu Da Mao? After all, Xu Da Mao wasn’t a woman! He thought that it wouldn’t be an issue since the police wouldn’t intervene. He learned this from a fellow inmate who had committed similar acts against men without facing any consequences.
However, he hadn’t anticipated that the new laws included provisions for virus transmission!
Now that he was incarcerated again, Sha Zhu took it in stride. "If I’m here, I’m here," he thought. Outside, he would still have to deal with judgment from others and find ways to make a living!
Life in prison now was much easier than in the heavy-security facility where he had previously been held. For him, being here felt like a luxury!
As Sha Zhu began to enjoy his prison life, Xu Da Mao resigned from his job at the steel mill. He simply couldn’t take it anymore; with Sha Zhu sentenced and their incident becoming public knowledge, there was no way to hide what had happened.
Now that Xu Da Mao’s illness was exposed as well, he experienced firsthand what it felt like to be pointed at and looked down upon by others in the community.
At the steel mill, he could no longer endure the discrimination against him. With the government encouraging citizens to start their own businesses, he decided it was best to quit his job and return home to pursue entrepreneurship instead!
