Ruan Jiajia felt a sense of triumph at having devised such a clever scheme to sow discord between Ruan Anmu and Ruan Fuxi. Watching the two stand together harmoniously, she couldn't help but scoff. They weren't even real sisters; what was with the pretense of a close relationship? She refused to believe that Ruan Anmu was completely indifferent to Ruan Fuxi's presence. After all, the Ruan family was wealthy enough that even biological sisters could turn against each other over inheritance disputes, let alone cousins.
Ruan Anmu remained unfazed by Jiajia's words. She knew that Jiajia wasn't genuinely concerned for her; she was merely trying to stir up trouble between the two. Anmu wouldn't fall for it. One was a greedy, foolish cousin with ulterior motives, and the other was a half-sister who would protect her own interests like a snake guarding its territory. Anmu knew exactly how to choose between them.
Ignoring Ruan Jiajia, Anmu's indifference inadvertently reminded Ruan Fuxi of something. She recalled how this cousin often took advantage of their absence to pilfer valuable items from their home. Narrowing her eyes, Fuxi approached Jiajia.
Seeing this, Jiajia instinctively took a step back. "What are you doing? If you dare lay a hand on me, I'll tell Uncle!"
Fuxi raised an eyebrow but remained silent as she walked straight up to Jiajia and snatched the bracelet from her wrist.
"My bracelet—you’ve worn it long enough; it’s time you returned it."
Jiajia immediately tried to grab it back, but the sight of Fuxi's fierce demeanor made her hesitate. Feeling somewhat guilty, she stammered, "You don’t even wear it; what’s wrong with me having it?"
Such brazen audacity made Ruan Fuxi chuckle inwardly. "Jiajia, haven’t you heard that taking without asking makes you a thief? From now on, you’re not allowed in my room without my permission."
She had no idea how many valuable items Jiajia had taken from her room while they were away. Just as Jiajia was about to retort, Fuxi continued speaking:
"You took things from me, and I expect everything back, not a single item missing. If you don't return them, don't blame me for calling the police."
Ruan Jiajia had used them and looked down on them, but it was still better than letting her benefit from it.
Those jewelry and bags were all high-end brands; even if sold second-hand, they would retain their value.
As soon as Ruan Jiajia heard this, she panicked.
"You have so many bags and pieces of jewelry; what’s the harm in giving me a little? Can you even use all of them?"
Ruan Fuxi waved her phone in front of her.
"What I do with my things is none of your business. You have one day to return everything. If it’s not here by then, be prepared to pay up—or wait to sit in jail."
Ruan Jiajia gritted her teeth but was also afraid that Ruan Fuxi would actually go through with calling the police.
She cursed inwardly.
In the past, whenever she took something from Ruan Fuxi, Ruan Fuxi had never confronted her about it. Was she just waiting for today to settle the score?
She had hoped to take advantage of Ruan Fuxi's mother being hospitalized to make some money, but now it seemed she would end up with nothing and still have to return what she had taken.
What a loss!
Ruan Jiajia glared at Ruan Fuxi resentfully and reluctantly said, "Fine, I’ll return it."
Ruan Fuxi nodded and pointed towards the door.
"Get out."
Ruan Jiajia stomped her foot in frustration before turning to leave.
Ruan Fuxi turned to the butler and said, "Uncle Wang, from now on, no one is allowed to enter my room without my permission. Also, when they come over, they should not wander around freely."
With how casual Ruan Jiajia was, one might think this was her home—such audacity!
At that moment, Ruan Anmu gave Ruan Fuxi a thumbs-up.
