Sheng Yanzhou sensed that her mood was a bit low and asked, "Which university is Xiao Xi attending? I can take you there."
Ruan Fuxi sighed, "National Chiao Tung University."
Sheng Yanzhou stopped smiling.
"Xiao Xi, your university is where?"
Ruan Fuxi nodded, "Yes."
After confirming, Sheng Yanzhou's mood instantly sank. Xiao Xi was in university, but he was in Beijing. This meant he would have to wait until she had a break to see her.
Ruan Fuxi was initially puzzled by his change in demeanor but quickly realized what was bothering him. She comforted him, saying, "It's okay; I can fly to Beijing often."
Sheng Yanzhou still felt it wasn't enough, but he soon smiled again. The Sheng family also had businesses; he could manage things from the office. He didn't need to be stationed in Beijing all the time; working from other cities wouldn't significantly affect the group.
Seeing the smile in his eyes, Ruan Fuxi swallowed the words of persuasion that were on her lips. "As long as you're happy."
The car stopped at the Ruan family home, and Ruan Fuxi leaned over to plant a kiss on Sheng Yanzhou's cheek.
"I'll see you."
Sheng Yanzhou watched her retreating figure with reluctance, only leaving after she disappeared from view.
It was already getting late at Ruan Fuxi's home, so she headed straight to her room. She had bought some turmeric crystals at the auction today and also picked up gifts for her parents. However, it was too late to give them now; she decided to wait until tomorrow morning.
The next morning, Ruan Fuxi went downstairs with the gifts in hand.
"Mom and Dad, I attended an auction yesterday and bought you some things."
She then took out the items one by one. For Ruan Jili, there was an antique vase; for Lu Manyun and Ruan Anmu, there were two exquisite hairpins; for Ruan Huai, a set of antique tea utensils; and for her cool younger brother Ruan Xun, a pair of delicate cufflinks.
Ruan Jili had always loved antiques, and knowing that this vase was a gift from his precious daughter made it even more special. He immediately fell in love with it. "This vase is beautiful! Xiaoxi really has an eye for quality; it's even better than what I have displayed in my study."
Lu Manyun quickly chimed in, "Of course!" She then looked at the delicate jade hairpins with Ruan Anmu, both of them filled with delight.
Ruan Anmu grinned and said, "Xiaoxi, thank you for the hairpin! I’ll make sure to get you something nice in return."
Ruan Huai received the tea set with warmth and kindness, preparing to take it to his office. Ruan Xun was even happier; he immediately held the cufflinks up to his shirt to see how they looked before carefully putting them away.
Seeing that they all liked their gifts made Ruan Fuxi smile. However, Lu Manyun soon expressed her concern, asking, "Xiaoxi, how much did these cost? Do you have enough pocket money left? I can transfer you some more."
Ruan Fuxi laughed and nodded. "I’m fine! Yesterday, Big Brother transferred five hundred thousand to me, and I'm earning my own money now. No need for you to send me anything."
