He glanced cautiously at Sheng Yanzhou while speaking, afraid that he might harbor any dissatisfaction towards him. Sheng Yanzhou was always attentive to Ruan Fuxi's expressions; seeing that she showed no signs of displeasure, he remained silent.
Ruan Fuxi turned to Huang Jian and said, "The problem now lies with your girlfriend, Yu Qi. I already told you last time that she absorbs your luck. However, now that the talisman is gone, she won't be able to absorb it anymore."
Huang Jian had been acutely aware of his declining fortune these past few days, and he anxiously asked, "So can my luck come back?"
Ruan Fuxi pondered for a moment before replying, "It's hard to say. If your luck was solely being absorbed by Yu Qi, there might be a chance. But if your luck has been tampered with by someone else again, it might not work."
Huang Jian felt no affection for Yu Qi anymore; after the talisman was burned, all he felt towards her was hatred. He couldn't believe he had been manipulated by her time and again. He was filled with both anxiety and regret.
"Miss Ruan, you must help me!" he pleaded.
After thinking for a moment, Ruan Fuxi replied, "Alright, I'll go take a look. Don't let Yu Qi get away."
Huang Jian was overjoyed upon hearing her words. "Thank you so much!"
With Ruan Fuxi's assurance, he didn't linger any longer and left promptly.
Ruan Fuxi turned around and got into the car with Sheng Yanzhou. The entrance of the villa area was still quite a distance from her home, so taking the car was more convenient.
When Ruan Fuxi arrived at the Ruan residence, the Gong family had gathered in the evening. Gong Le looked at his wife and two sons with a weary and worried expression.
Qi Hui, unaware that Sheng Yanzhou was acquiring the company, noticed his demeanor and stepped forward with concern. "Honey, why are you home so late? Did something happen at the company?"
Gong Le let out a long sigh.
Sheng Yanzhou was already in the process of acquiring shares in the company, and now, many small shareholders were considering his offered price.
Qi Hui's expression changed dramatically upon hearing this.
"What! Why is he doing this?"
Gong Le glanced at her.
Qi Hui quickly realized and exclaimed, "Is it because we blocked Ruan Fuxi's broadcast room that Sheng Yanzhou took action?"
Gong Le nodded.
Qi Hui muttered in disbelief, "This is insane, absolutely insane!"
Nearby, Gong Changle, whose face was flushed with excitement, couldn't help but chuckle, completely unconcerned that the company being acquired was his own.
"Ha! You offended the ancestors! Now you know your mistake, don’t you?"
At that moment, Qi Hui turned her gaze toward him.
"Changle, what’s your relationship with Ruan Fuxi? Mom knows you went to find her. Why don’t you ask her to talk to Sheng Yanzhou and make him stop? If the company goes under, how will we survive?"
Gong Changle sneered inwardly.
"I wouldn’t dare to plead with the ancestors; I don’t have that kind of face."
Then he turned to his father.
"Dad, why did you block the ancestor's broadcast room? Whoever blocked it should find a way to fix it."
Though he directed this comment at Gong Le, Qi Hui sensed the sarcasm aimed at her.
Immediately after, Qi Hui felt her husband’s disapproving gaze upon her.
Feigning sadness, she said, "Changle, it's my fault. I was worried you'd be deceived by those people online."
Gong Changle was astonished. "What do you mean by deceiving me? Am I not your own?"
Then she murmured to herself, "No wonder, Mom, you used to treat me like that."
Feeling her husband's increasingly cold gaze, Qi Hui grew anxious.
