In the midst of a profound silence, Dongzhi hurriedly approached. 0

"Miss, you’re here! What did the Consort say?" she asked eagerly. 0

She had blind confidence in Song Feiwan, completely unaware that Consort Rong would punish her. 0

Song Feiwan lowered her long lashes, her porcelain-like features betraying a hint of unidentifiable emotion. 0

"Let’s talk later," she replied softly. 0

No matter how one looked at it, there was an air of desolation about her, as if she had lost her spirit. 0

With many eyes watching in the courtyard, the news quickly reached the ears of Ke Shi and Song Shuyao. 0

The mother and daughter exchanged glances, each seeing joy reflected on the other’s face. 0

Ke Shi asked, "Are you sure Song Feiwan came alone? There were no rewards involved, right?" 0

Song Shuyao replied, "Yes! I heard she looked absolutely dreadful; she definitely didn’t win any favor from the Consort! Haha, I knew her schemes wouldn’t succeed! She must be feeling quite embarrassed right now." 0

With a regretful sigh, she added, "I thought the Consort might have executed her; she really got off easy." 0

A cold light flashed in Ke Shi's eyes. "As long as it doesn’t involve us, we’re fortunate. It’s better for her to be in the residence; it makes it easier for us to act." 0

Song Shuyao nodded. "You’re right, Mother. She must pay for what she has done! But when should we..." She made a gesture across her throat. 0

Ke Shi raised her hand. "No rush; she just arrived, and too many people are paying attention to her. Let’s wait until things settle down a bit before we discuss further." 0

"Understood." 0

"You went out today; have you discussed everything with His Highness?" 0

"Yes." She wasn’t worried about Song Feiwan spreading rumors anymore. 0

"That’s good then. The commotion at the Rong residence was too loud, and with Consort Rong summoning her into the palace, gossip about her must be all over the capital now. We should keep a low profile for a while and avoid drawing attention." 0

The daughter understood well. 0

Song Feiwan led Dongzhi to her courtyard and dismissed everyone else. 0

"Have all the guards at the gates been withdrawn?" she asked. 0

“Winter Solstice,” she replied, “no. Miss, do you wish to go out?” 0

Song Feiwan shook her head. “Not for now. Prepare the ink, brush, paper, and inkstone, and send them to my study. For the next few days, observe the reactions of the servants in the courtyard closely, and remember not to disturb me.” 0

The maid nodded in acknowledgment. 0

Winter Solstice was loyal but not foolish. Noticing her mistress's low spirits, she realized that this trip to the palace might not go smoothly. Since Song Feiwan did not want to bring it up, Winter Solstice refrained from asking further and left to carry out her orders. 0

She also warned other servants to avoid mentioning His Highness the Crown Prince around Song Feiwan. 0

For the next three days, aside from meals, bathing, and resting, Song Feiwan hardly left her study. Not only the other residents of the estate but even the servants in her courtyard had no idea what she was doing. 0

To everyone else’s eyes, this behavior suggested that she had suffered a heavy blow from Consort Gui and was now despondent. 0

Lady Kui and Song Shuyou had been lying low for a few days, and with each observation, their satisfaction grew. 0

“Mother, this time Song Feiwan is truly finished! She wouldn’t really suffocate in her own courtyard, would she?” Song Shuyou said gleefully. 0

“I find this matter a bit suspicious,” Lady Kui frowned. 0

“What’s so suspicious? Isn’t she always the type who can’t make a sound even when struck?” Song Shuyou lowered her voice conspiratorially. “Mother, if you ask me, let’s take action tonight while there’s wind; we should strike before it gets complicated.” 0

Lady Kui remained silent, seemingly hesitant. 0

Song Shuyou grew anxious. “If we wait too long and she recovers, it will be harder for us to deal with her! Besides, news has come from His Highness the Crown Prince’s side that the Crown Princess is deteriorating; it’s likely just a matter of this month. If we don’t act quickly, I won’t have enough time to discuss marriage with His Highness.” 0

Finally convinced by her daughter’s urgency, Lady Kui's gaze turned cold as she said, “Alright, I’ll follow your lead. We’ll act tonight!” 0

In the study, Song Feiwan set down her brush with a soft thud and stretched lazily. 0

Turning her head slightly, she felt a familiar stiffness and soreness in her neck. 0
