The crowd murmured in disdain at Jiang Chen's actions.
Jiang Chen paid no mind to their chatter and instead enjoyed the view of the sea. The cruise ship was drifting further away from Huaxia, where the sky met the ocean in a breathtaking blue expanse.
A day passed swiftly.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, darkness enveloped the surroundings.
The lights on the cruise ship flickered on, and in the dining area, everyone began their meal. Seven days on a cruise could be rather dull, especially with an uncertain future looming ahead; uncertainty breeds fear. Fortunately, everyone had formed teams, which provided some comfort. In the dining hall, most of the five-member teams sat together, chatting casually to unwind.
When Jiang Chen entered the dining area, he immediately drew attention; after all, he was alone and stood out among the groups. He settled into a booth and ordered several dishes, eating leisurely.
At the adjacent table sat five individuals—four men and one woman. The woman was undoubtedly the most beautiful among all the young ladies present that day, while the four men were all robust and muscular. This team was undoubtedly among the strongest.
"Kid, do you really think you can win all by yourself?" one of the burly young men asked teasingly.
Jiang Chen glanced at them with a slight smile and replied, "If I choose to play, I will definitely win. But honestly, I'm not interested in the game."
Hearing Jiang Chen's somewhat arrogant and strange words, the five at his table frowned.
"You think you can win? Are you dreaming? You just want to claim that hundred billion for yourself. You're overestimating yourself; this game is no joke. If you lose, you might even lose your life. You're bound to lose this time," the young man scoffed.
His words elicited laughter from his four teammates, mocking Jiang Chen's audacity.
Jiang Chen couldn't be bothered to engage in their banter and continued eating his meal.
After they had ridiculed him for a while longer, they finally shifted their conversation away from him. In their minds, they dismissed Jiang Chen entirely; they were numerous and powerful—there was no way he could win against them.
As Jiang Chen enjoyed his meal, two girls who hadn't formed teams approached him shyly.
They stood before him without saying a word, simply watching him eat.
"Have you eaten? If not, come sit down and eat with me," Jiang Chen said with a hint of helplessness.
The two girls brightened up at his invitation and quickly took seats across from him.
Now Jiang Chen took a serious look at them. Both girls appeared quite young—around twenty years old—likely still students.
The girl on his left was taller, about 1.7 meters (5'7"), but slightly plump with a round face and wearing black-rimmed glasses; her weight made her height less noticeable. The girl on his right was shorter than 1.6 meters (5'3"), looking pale and unmade-up, giving her a very plain appearance.
As Jiang Chen scrutinized them, the two girls quickly introduced themselves.
The taller girl, named Liang Hong, was from Northeast China and was a university student. The shorter girl, Liu Zhi, hailed from a small county in Central China.
"I'm Jiang Chen, from Southeast Province," he casually introduced himself before asking, "How were you invited to participate in this game?"
