"Now, let's start dividing the teams," the old man said.
Then, a figure in black approached with bamboo sticks, allowing each team to draw one. After the drawing was complete, the matches in the Arena began. Each team consisted of five members, including at least one girl, and the participants were chosen randomly. If a girl faced off against a boy from the opposing team, defeat was almost guaranteed. Moreover, if the strongest member of a team encountered the weakest member of the opposing team, while they could win a card, it would be a waste of effort.
Having the strongest player face the weakest opponent was simply inefficient. Although these players were ordinary people, they weren't foolish. It was incredibly difficult to secure victories for all five members because they had no way of knowing who their opponents would send out. If they knew the order in which their opponents would appear, they could strategize like in a horse racing match and avoid disastrous losses even with a weaker team.
"The first group, first round, start timing," an official in the Arena announced.
Two young men from Huaxia immediately engaged in a fierce struggle. With just one minute on the clock, if either could knock their opponent down within that time frame, they would win the opponent's card. The fight was intense.
"Time's up." A minute passed quickly; both Huaxia young men emerged bruised and battered but remained standing, resulting in a draw. Most of these participants were ordinary individuals who couldn't determine a clear winner after just one minute of fighting. Some chose to evade and run when faced with stronger opponents, leading to many matches ending in stalemates.
Only a few teams managed to win a card, and winning two cards was even rarer. However, despite being ordinary people, they fought fiercely in the Arena; had they been armed, it could have resulted in serious injuries or worse.
After more than an hour, all teams had completed their matches. The team that collected the most cards was one that Jiang Chen recognized—the same five individuals who had mocked him days earlier. Their strength was indeed impressive; this time they managed to secure four cards.
"Haha, kid, it's your turn now," said the young muscular man who had long held disdain for Jiang Chen. Seizing the opportunity to teach Jiang Chen a lesson, he stepped forward and provocatively pointed at him.
"What should we do, Brother Jiang?" Liu Zhi and Liang Hong were visibly frightened. This muscular man was too strong; he had just knocked out his opponent with a single punch.
Liu Zhi and Liang Hong could only place all their hopes on Jiang Chen since they believed he was older than them and thus referred to him as "Brother Jiang" to appear closer.
Jiang Chen smiled and said, "Just give me your cards."
Liu Zhi and Liang Hong were taken aback but obediently handed over their cards to Jiang Chen.
"No need to compete anymore; you want cards? Here you go," Jiang Chen said with a grin as he tossed the cards towards the group of five.
His actions left everyone momentarily stunned, but they quickly realized that Jiang Chen was simply being pragmatic—knowing he couldn't win, he chose to give away his cards to avoid injury.
Liu Zhi and Liang Hong stared wide-eyed; although they felt pained by his decision, there was nothing they could do about it.
The muscular young man clenched his fists and sneered, "Kid, I thought you had some skills; turns out you're just this cowardly. Haha, good for me—it saves me from having to fight."
"I told you, this kid is just bragging. Now, his true colors are showing. I want to see what he can do now that he doesn't have a single card left."
