"Now, let's start dividing the teams," the old man said.
Then, a figure in black approached with bamboo sticks, allowing each team to draw one. After the drawing was complete, the matches in the Arena began. Each team consisted of five members, and there were girls in every team. The participants were chosen randomly, and if a girl faced a boy from the opposing team, defeat was almost certain. Moreover, if the strongest member of a team faced the weakest member of the opposing team, while they could win a card, it would be a waste of effort.
It was a waste to have the strongest face off against the weakest. Although these players were all ordinary people, they weren't foolish; winning all five matches was incredibly difficult since they had no idea who their opponents would send out. If they knew the order of their opponents' appearances, they could strategize like in a horse race and even the weakest team wouldn't suffer a crushing defeat.
"The first group, first round, start timing," one of the referees announced in the Arena.
Two Hua Xia Young Men immediately engaged in a fierce struggle. They had just one minute; if one could knock the other down within that time, they would win their opponent's card. The fight was intense.
"Time's up." A minute passed quickly; both Hua Xia Young Men ended up bruised and battered but remained standing, resulting in a draw. Most of these individuals were just ordinary people, and after a minute of grappling, it was impossible to determine a clear winner. Some chose to evade and run when faced with stronger opponents, causing many matches to also end in draws.
Teams that managed to win even one card were rare; winning two cards was even less common. However, these fighters were fierce in the Arena; had they been armed, it could have resulted in serious injuries or worse.
After more than an hour, all teams had completed their matches. The team that collected the most cards was one that Jiang Chen recognized—the same five who had mocked him days earlier. Their strength was indeed impressive; they had managed to secure four cards this time.
"Haha, kid, it's your turn now." The young muscular man had long been displeased with Jiang Chen and seized this opportunity to provoke him.
"What should we do? Brother Jiang!" Liu Zhi and Liang Hong were quite frightened; this muscular man was too strong—he had knocked out his opponent with just one punch moments ago.
Liu Zhi and Liang Hong now placed all their hopes on Jiang Chen because they felt he was older than them. They called him "Brother Jiang" to seem more familiar.
Jiang Chen smiled and said, "Just give me your cards."
Liu Zhi and Liang Hong were taken aback but obediently handed over their cards to Jiang Chen.
"No need to fight; you want cards, right? Here you go," Jiang Chen said with a grin as he tossed the cards towards the group of muscular men.
His actions left everyone momentarily stunned, but soon they realized that Jiang Chen was quite pragmatic—knowing he couldn't win, he simply surrendered the cards to avoid injury.
Liu Zhi and Liang Hong stared wide-eyed; although they felt pained by his decision, there was nothing they could do about it.
The muscular young man clenched his fists and sneered, "Kid, I thought you had some skills; turns out you're just this cowardly. Haha, good for me—I won't have to lift a finger."
"I told you, this kid is just bragging. Now, his true colors are showing. I want to see what he can do now that he doesn't have a single card left."
