Evan and Elf emerged from the eerie darkness, finally finding a temporary refuge. Although both were utterly exhausted, the oppressive atmosphere lingered, as if an invisible force constantly threatened them. Evan's heart raced violently, and he felt dizzy, as though the very air around him had become unbearably heavy. At that moment, all they could do was rest, regain their strength, and then continue onward. 0

"Are we... okay?" Evan asked softly, his voice hoarse, as if a gust of wind could crush him at any moment. 0

Elf stood beside him, gently patting Evan's shoulder. "Don't worry, I'm here." Its tone was comforting, yet there was a clear hint of concern in its eyes. "You look very tired; we need to rest for a bit." 0

Evan forced himself to nod despite his discomfort. He knew Elf was right; they couldn't push on any further. Each deep breath felt like a struggle to move forward, but his body could barely withstand any more pressure. So he sat down against the rock wall and closed his eyes. 0

Just as he tried to clear his mind, a voice suddenly whispered in his ear—soft, familiar, yet imbued with an indescribable urgency. 0

"Evan..." 0

He jolted awake, scanning his surroundings. It was eerily silent; no one was in sight—only darkness and stillness. But that voice... it felt too real. 0

"Evan..." 0

He heard it more clearly now; the voice resonated with such clarity that he could almost feel its warmth, as if it were emanating from the depths of his memory. Evan's heart skipped a beat as a vivid image flashed in his mind: a warm afternoon with his mother sitting by the window reading a book while he lay on the sofa watching her, quiet as if time itself had paused. 0

Suddenly, he stood up and looked around frantically. "Mom?" Evan murmured almost inaudibly, confusion and hope mingling in his eyes. "Is that you?" 0

Elf noticed the change in Evan and frowned slightly. "Evan, what's wrong?" 0

A look of bewilderment crossed Evan's face. "I heard... I heard my mother's voice." 0

Elf furrowed its brow, clearly skeptical of the situation. "Are you sure? Your mother can't possibly be here, Aiven." Its tone was urgent, as if it wanted Aiven to shake off this unrealistic illusion as quickly as possible. 0

But Aiven's expression grew more resolute, his gaze unwavering. "I can hear her clearly, Elf. She's calling for me." He grasped Elf's claw tightly. "I have to find her." 0

Elf looked at Aiven, struggling internally, but ultimately shook its head. "No, Aiven. You don't understand. In a place like this, the 'Dark Wings' can manipulate you through your deepest emotions. It can make you see the things you desire most, the people you long to meet. You can't trust these illusions!" 0

Yet Aiven's gaze remained steadfast. "I know she must be waiting for me," he whispered. "I can't give up this chance." 0

Elf fell silent for a moment before letting out a sigh. "Alright, I can't stop you, but you must be careful. If you're led into a trap by the 'Dark Wings,' we may never escape." 0
