The Elf approached the hourglass, beginning to examine the symbols closely. Her fingers gently traced each engraving as she softly recited the ancient language contained within. The grains of sand in the hourglass trembled at her touch, as if responding to her every word.
"I remember these symbols..." The Elf's voice carried a hint of uncertainty. "These symbols are not arranged randomly; there is a pattern. Each symbol seems to correspond to different segments of time. We need to find the correct order."
Evan stepped beside her, staring intently at the clusters of symbols. "Can we do it?"
The Elf did not answer immediately; her gaze was calm and deep, as if she were fully immersed in the mysteries of the runes. Finally, she whispered, "If I recall correctly, the arrangement of these symbols is based on the Giant Race's concept of time. According to their philosophy, time is divided into three layers: 'past,' 'present,' and 'future,' with a passage between each layer."
She raised a hand and pointed to the top of the hourglass. "This represents the 'past,' marking the starting point of history. Below is the 'present,' symbolizing the flow of time. Finally, the 'future' lies at the bottom of the hourglass, representing all possibilities that have yet to occur."
"So, we need to arrange the symbols in this order?" Evan asked, puzzled.
The Elf nodded. "Yes, we must activate the hourglass in the sequence of 'past, present, future.'"
"Got it." Evan took a deep breath and began to gently touch each symbol on the hourglass according to her instructions. With each touch, the air around them seemed to distort, and the grains of sand within began to flow slowly, producing a faint rustling sound.
When he touched the last symbol, suddenly, the entire tower began to tremble. A powerful wave of energy erupted from the hourglass, nearly knocking Evan off his feet. The walls of the tower shimmered with golden light, and the entire space seemed engulfed by a vortex of time, becoming increasingly blurred.
"Quick! Stop it!" Evan shouted, trying to grasp the Elf's hand.
The Elf fixed her gaze on the hourglass, her voice trembling slightly. "We can't stop it; once activated, there’s no turning back. We can only go along with it and enter into its power."
As her words fell away, Evan felt a tremendous force pulling him forward; his surroundings began to fade into obscurity. Time seemed to lose its reality as he experienced an unprecedented sense of pressure, as if the entire world were losing its balance.
Suddenly, a violent dizziness nearly caused Evan to fall. He could only hear Elf's voice echoing in his ears: "Get ready, Evan. We are about to traverse the river of time!"
An unprecedented shock made him lose consciousness completely, and the world around him plunged into darkness.
Evan felt as if he were being swallowed into an endless abyss. Time, space, and even existence itself seemed to tear apart at that moment. He desperately tried to grasp something, but found nothing to hold onto. Everything around him became blurred, swirling like ripples before his eyes. The Time Sandglass, that ancient tower, even Elf's voice vanished in an instant, as if they had never existed.
Evan closed his eyes, unsure of what kind of alternate dimension he had been pulled into. His consciousness grew increasingly hazy, and his head throbbed as if struck by a heavy hammer. Suddenly, the darkness before him seemed to be pierced by a ray of light. In an instant, a cold wind rushed towards him, and he opened his eyes wide, shocked by the scene before him.
