That night, as Zhou Minshi and Zheng Mengni chatted happily in the Art Studio, a flurry of messages filled the screen. 0

"Who is he to you? Who am I to you? Can't you tell the difference? You ignored me and went looking for him, didn't you?" 0

Zheng Mengni felt a headache coming on from the barrage of questions. 0

"I was just—" 0

She typed a few words, but her slender fingers froze over the screen. Without hesitation, she deleted everything she had written. It was better to say less when emotions were running high. She decided to take a shower before replying to Wei Jingxi's messages. 0

Wei Jingxi gripped his phone tightly, his knuckles turning white as he stared at the chat window, waiting for Zheng Mengni's response that never came. His jaw tightened, and the corners of his eyes darkened as he pressed his lips into a thin line. Zheng Mengni had clearly seen his message; why wasn’t she replying? Was it true that she was with that jerk? 0

"Are you going to sing or not?" 0

The atmosphere in the private room remained lighthearted, filled with the intoxicating scent of expensive alcohol. The colorful ambient lights flickered brightly, but no one noticed that Wei Jingxi's expression was growing increasingly grim. 0

He remained silent as someone, tipsy from the drinks, began joking around. 0

"Don’t let this karaoke king take over; if he gets the mic, we’ll just be staring at him all night." 0

"Yeah, but your brother Wei actually sings well. He’s got the talent of those pop stars in the entertainment industry. Now he’s singing for free; don’t act like it’s a big deal." 0

"Are you kidding? With his family’s wealth, does he need to sell his singing? You must be drunk to think that!" 0

Someone took the opportunity to flatter him and turned to Wei Jingxi. "Bro, I’m right, aren’t I?" 0

Wei Jingxi had consumed quite a bit of alcohol and lay lazily back on the sofa in the corner where the light was dimmest, his features obscured in shadow. The low pressure around him made it clear he wasn’t interested in engaging with anyone. 0

The person who had been talking felt awkward and turned away, ready to continue their conversation elsewhere. 0

Just then, Wei Jingxi's phone rang amidst the noise in the room. 0

He suddenly stood up, pushing through the door and colliding with the two people who were drunkenly blocking the way. 0

"Hey!" 0

One of them stumbled to the side, wincing as he rubbed his sore shoulder. 0

Had he drunk too much? No, could he not speak? Had he offended someone? 0

Goodness, you all know that the Wei Family has always opposed Wei Jingxi studying music; why bring it up again? 0

Once he left, the private room buzzed with chatter. 0

Wei Jingxi hurried to the restroom with his phone in hand, and finally, the surrounding world quieted down, leaving only the ringtone of Zheng Mengni's call. He leaned against the sink, deliberately waiting until the last ring before answering. 0

It was a video call. 0

On the screen was a striking face. Her features were delicate, with soft lines; her bare skin was fair and smooth, so flawless that even her pores were invisible, resembling silky vanilla pudding. 0

Zheng Mengni gazed at him gently, quietly studying his face. 0

The restroom was much brighter than the private room. Wei Jingxi had been drinking, and a faint blush colored his cheeks. 0

Zheng Mengni remained silent, and he didn't speak either. 0

"I practiced singing in the recording studio today." 0

Wei Jingxi, still a bit tipsy, replied sharply, "What do you have to practice? Didn't you hire someone to sing for you?" 0

"Well, I won't release any songs that aren't sung by me in the future," Zheng Mengni said softly, ignoring his sarcasm. 0

Wei Jingxi scoffed coldly and chose not to respond. 0

Still sulking, Zheng Mengni continued, "Zhou Minshi is the substitute artist I hired because you don't like me being around him. So I won't ask him to fill in anymore." 0

She told a little white lie; it didn't matter why—she truly wouldn't seek Zhou Minshi again. Moreover, this statement could cheer him up, which had its own value. 0

Wei Jingxi seemed to let out a cold laugh: "I don't like you being around anyone. Can you really avoid contact with everyone just for me?" 0

"Does 'anyone' include you?" Zheng Mengni asked softly, suppressing her underlying irritation. 0

Wei Jingxi's heart was in turmoil, and Zheng Mengni's serious expression seemed as if she would agree to this unreasonable request. He didn't find it unreasonable at all. Isn't it a wonderful thing for one person to belong to another? 0
