"I'm tired too," Zheng Mengni pouted, linking arms with him.
"Wei Jingxi quickly pulled away, obediently taking her hand in his. It dawned on him that a woman on her period would feel weak. He felt terrible for having pressed down on Zheng Mengni like that. He really should be more considerate.
Out of guilt, Zheng Mengni first took Wei Jingxi around the Haunted House. To her surprise, the usually arrogant young master was afraid of the dark and even more terrified of ghosts. She patted his shoulder while softly explaining repeatedly, "It's all fake; it's just actors playing roles. Don't be scared." But no amount of reassurance could compete with the chilling screams from the haunted house.
Wei Jingxi hid behind her, holding onto her tightly, making Zheng Mengni feel like her clothes were about to stretch out of shape.
Zheng Mengni thought that perhaps she wasn't approaching it the right way. To make up for scaring Wei Jingxi earlier, she led him to the carousel next. She found riding the horses much more enjoyable. However, Wei Jingxi insisted that as an engaged couple, they shouldn't sit apart while playing games. He brought up some lofty principles and pulled Zheng Mengni onto the carriage with him.
They sat closely together, and he took out his phone to adjust the angle, snapping numerous pictures. The earlier worries vanished in an instant, and Zheng Mengni suddenly thought that a carriage ride was just fine.
Their third stop was the Bumper Cars. Zheng Mengni didn't know how to drive, but she figured that since Wei Jingxi enjoyed racing with his friends, he would have fun here as well. Unfortunately, despite being used to driving all sorts of luxury cars, Wei Jingxi was utterly clueless when it came to the Bumper Cars.
The car got stuck in a corner along with two other groups of clumsy players until the game ended. If it weren't for Zheng Mengni holding him back, Wei Jingxi's temper might have led him to dismantle someone else's steering wheel.
At six in the evening, after leaving the amusement park, Wei Jingxi drove to the restaurant he had reserved in advance. He had booked a table by the window, where if they arrived a little later, they could catch the city’s light show and the most vibrant night view. However, he didn’t want Zheng Mengni to go hungry, so the sunset was actually quite nice as well.
The dishes had been ordered ahead of time, and just as they were seated, Wei Jingxi received a phone call. He spoke for quite a while, his expression serious. Meanwhile, Zheng Mengni sat quietly across from him, glancing out at the scenery through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The clouds were painted with hues of orange and pink, sparkling like jewels. The countless skyscrapers were bathed in a warm golden light, and the bustling city was settling into a tranquil amber glow, preparing for the lively night ahead.
She picked up her phone and took a picture. After hesitating for a moment, she shifted her wrist to frame the beautiful and perfectly structured face across from her in the shot. Wei Jingxi looked up at her, switching the phone to his other hand, revealing his profile fully to her view.
With such good looks and a stunning backdrop, Zheng Mengni snapped a photo that turned out beautifully. She saved it, ready to post it on her social media.
As she lowered her head to edit the picture, her eyelashes cast shadows over her eyes, concealing her hidden emotions. If her father saw that her relationship with Wei Jingxi was improving, he would surely feel pleased. Then even if she failed the next assessment, it wouldn’t disappoint Zheng Yicheng too much.
