Shen Die crossed her arms, a smile playing on her lips as she looked down at Ye Bing, who sat in a wheelchair below.
"Are you sure he will obediently listen to you and just sit there like a fool?"
Zheng Mengni's pure, bright eyes sparkled as she smiled, her innocent expression particularly endearing.
"I don’t know," she replied honestly. "If he decides to run off and doesn’t listen, I can always say we got separated. It wouldn’t be my fault, right?"
Her soft, sweet words effortlessly absolved her of any blame.
Shen Die chuckled, bending over with laughter. "You really are something! You’ve managed to easily shake off that pesky burden. But if you’re not genuinely interested in taking him out for fun, why not just leave him at home?"
Zheng Mengni gazed at Ye Bing, her clear eyes dimming slightly. "You have to put on a show."
After saying this, she led Shen Die and the others on a leisurely stroll around the vast shopping mall. Two hours later, they returned to the same spot without any rush.
Looking down, they found Ye Bing still sitting there, unmoving as if he hadn’t shifted an inch.
Shen Die looked at Zheng Mengni with admiration and exclaimed, "What kind of spell did you cast on him? He listens to you so well!"
Zheng Mengni frowned slightly, puzzled. "What’s the deal? With our parents not around, who’s going to see him pretending to be clueless?"
"Who is he trying to impress by acting good? Honestly."
Feeling it was a waste of time, Zheng Mengni decided to call Ye Bing up. After wandering around for so long, her feet were killing her; she certainly didn’t want to go downstairs herself to fetch him.
But as she opened her contacts, she suddenly remembered that today was supposed to be about buying Ye Bing a phone. She had been too busy teasing him and hadn’t bought the phone after all; now she really had to make another trip.
Zheng Mengni felt annoyed, her expression hardening as displeasure filled her eyes.
As she approached Ye Bing, she noticed he still wore that cool demeanor with a casual smile on his face. It seemed he had anticipated this moment or perhaps was indifferent to everything around him; his deep-set eyes calmly regarded Zheng Mengni as his lips curved into a slight smile.
"Sister, you’re here."
Ye Bing shouldn’t have addressed her like that since she was much younger than him.
But he thought Zheng Mengni seemed interested in playing house with this sister-brother game. Since she was enjoying it so much, he figured it wouldn’t hurt to indulge her a little longer.
Zheng Mengni wore an apologetic expression, her large, watery eyes blinking innocently as she pouted and said, "I'm sorry, little sister. I just got caught up with something after using the restroom and accidentally left you behind."
The way she confidently admitted her mistake was rather impressive. However, Ye Bing wasn't particularly interested in whether it was intentional or not; she decided to play along with the act of being wronged. Pouting slightly, she replied, "Really? I was so scared; I thought you didn't want me anymore."
Scared? She didn't believe that someone who wasn't afraid of bullets would genuinely feel fear over such a trivial matter. Yet, it was her that needed to believe it.
Zheng Mengni understood the principle of giving a sweet reward after a slap. She knew that if Ye Bing were to be punished this time, she might not obediently accept it next time.
Taking the initiative, Zheng Mengni pushed Ye Bing's wheelchair with a gentle smile on her face. In a soft voice, she said, "Little sister, let me take you to buy a phone. I would worry if I couldn't get in touch with you."
Ye Bing smiled lightly, her lips curving into a playful grin. "If you can worry about me, that would be just wonderful."
