Guan Yao felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. He had just received the news that his reckless son had caused trouble at a club a few days ago, and now he was rushing back to clean up the mess left by this troublesome child. It was hard to believe that only a few days had passed, and already there was another incident.
Despite his frail health, Guan Li was still alive and sharp-minded enough to realize that one day he would discover the extent of his grandson's mischief. This was a crucial time for dividing the inheritance, and Guan Yao knew he couldn't compete with Guan Su Lin. He didn't want his son's antics to further diminish the shares that the main family could receive.
Guan Qingmo was still on the ground, wailing in pain, veins bulging at his temples as he shouted at Guan Yao, demanding that Tan Yan be dealt with harshly. Guan Yao felt a mix of disappointment and frustration; he stepped forward and covered Guan Qingmo's mouth.
He suspected that Guan Li had sensed something amiss when he left the gathering early, and it was likely that someone had followed him right after he departed. What was all this noise about? Did they want their grandfather to know what kind of trouble they were getting into?
For a moment, Guan Qingmo's dazed eyes regained some clarity as he realized his grandfather had returned. "Why... why is Grandpa back?" he stammered.
His feigned illness had drawn suspicion; people didn’t genuinely believe he was sick but chose to turn a blind eye instead. "Don't tell him!" Guan Qingmo trembled in fear.
First, they needed to handle the immediate situation. Guan Yao released his son's mouth and walked over to Tan Yan, who looked utterly defeated. Tan Yan's face was pale, blood still trickling from his forehead, and his eyes were vacant and unfocused.
Guan Yao's heart sank as he quietly waved a hand in front of Tan Yan’s face. There was no response. He glanced down at the bloodied steel rod nearby; the silence around them felt eerie.
The bodyguards remained silent out of fear of being blamed; they all knew how ruthless the Guan family could be. Guan Qingmo wasn’t silent out of guilt but rather disdain; he was too furious to utter a word.
So what if someone got blinded or injured? Who would dare to arrest him? Even if they did, his father would find a way to bail him out—he would only spend a few days in detention for show.
Guan Qingmo reminded Guan Yao with a stern expression, "He's blind but not mute. We cannot let him go; otherwise, this Jian Ren will definitely find a way to expose everything."
"Shut up!"
Guan Yao's face darkened further. Did he really need to be reminded of that? He was simply tired of cleaning up the messes left by Guan Qingmo. Graduation was just around the corner, but when would this kid finally grow up and ease his worries?
Then, unexpectedly, Tan Yan, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke a name. Even though his eyes had lost focus, the chilling depth of his character remained unmistakable.
Tan Yan was skilled at disguise; often, the more amiable his appearance, the more cunning his intentions. But when he quietly tore through the calm facade to reveal his sharp edge, it signified that he had already grasped more than half of the situation.
This was a kind of arrogant confidence, a single strike aimed at the vital point.
Upon hearing those three words, Guan Yao instinctively frowned, while Guan Qingmo, confused and furious, rushed forward as if to strike Tan Yan down.
"Who are you shouting at? Damn it, you're one of his people! No wonder you're all so despicable!"
Guan Su Lin was not only a taboo in the eyes of the main family but also considered a calamity that everyone else, except for Guan Li, preferred not to mention. The members of the Guan Family were well aware of Guan Su Lin's malicious nature but found themselves unable to pin any wrongdoing on him, leaving them trapped in a dilemma.
"It's nothing unusual that I know him," Tan Yan continued. "Since Guan Su Lin arrived, he has displayed exceptional talent and has become a dark horse in the business world. It's hard for anyone to overlook him."
