After returning to Hangzhou, Yun Li's days slipped away in the midst of a busy work schedule. Recently, aside from managing his food stall and solo broadcasts, he had become obsessed with photography, unable to pull himself away.
The photos he posted on his secondary account were no longer just beautiful sky views; they gradually included many scenes filled with the warmth of everyday life.
For instance, there were steaming breakfast stalls in the early morning, where the vendor skillfully flipped sizzling oil sticks in the frying pan, the aroma seemingly wafting out of the photos. There were also tranquil alleys in the afternoon, sunlight cascading over old walls, where a lazy cat dozed with half-closed eyes. In the bustling evening market, crowds bustled about, and colorful fruits and vegetables filled the stalls. Then there were late-night streets, where an elderly man sold roasted sweet potatoes beside a warm stove, steam rising gently under the streetlights.
These seemingly ordinary photos deeply conveyed the beauty and warmth of life. Behind each image seemed to lie Yun Li's love for life and his hopes for the future.
However, this left Zeus in a predicament. With Yun Li almost always absent, they couldn't connect for their broadcasts, and messages on WeChat went unanswered for long stretches due to Yun Li's frequent outings. Fortunately, Zeus could still catch glimpses of Yun Li's latest updates on his secondary account; otherwise, he might have thought Yun Li had vanished. Moreover, Yun Li's replies were rather cold and consisted of single-word responses. In the past, Zeus thought such behavior was normal; now, it felt like a bullet had struck him squarely in the forehead. The person he cared about would respond to a long message with just "Okay" or "Yes," leaving him feeling utterly devoid of any emotional connection.
One day, after losing a live broadcast PK challenge, Yun Li was given a punishment by the opposing streamer: he had to find an atmospheric photo of a handsome man's back online and caption it: "I have someone I like. What should I do? I want to confess. Seeking advice!"
Having lost, Yun Li had no choice but to comply. However, the other streamer only required him to post it for one hour before deleting it; it didn't need to stay up long. Unfortunately, after finishing his broadcast and overwhelmed by year-end work piling up, Yun Li forgot about it entirely and fell asleep right after recording.
Little did he know that this post would provoke a strong reaction from someone.
After finishing his own broadcast, Zeus was leisurely scrolling through his phone when he stumbled upon Yun Li's ambiguous post. His expression instantly turned serious; his previously relaxed facial muscles tensed up as shock and unease filled his eyes.
He read it over and over again; this was nothing like the Yun Li he knew.
Inside him, waves of turmoil surged: "How could Yun Li post something like this? Has he really found someone he likes more? No, that can't be true!"
He immediately messaged Yun Li: "Yun Li, is what you said in your post true?"
After a while without a reply, his anxiety grew: "Yun Li, please don’t ignore me! What does your post really mean?"
Half an hour passed, and he sent another message: “Yun Li, who exactly are you? Please tell me quickly!”
An hour later: “Xiao Li, my heart is in turmoil. Can you please give me an explanation?”
Two hours went by with still no response. He wrote again: “I can’t believe you’ve changed your mind so quickly. It must not be like that.”
“Xiao Li, no matter what, I’m here waiting for you to clarify things.”
“Xiao Li, where are you? Are you with that person? Please reply.”
“Xiao Li, have you really fallen for that person?”
Three hours later, there was still no reply. He finally sent: “I can’t wait any longer. I’m going to find you and get some answers in person.”
With that, Zeus could no longer sit still. He got up and rushed to Hangzhou that very night.
When the first rays of morning sunlight fell on the streets of Yun Li’s city, Zeus had already been waiting downstairs at Yun Li’s apartment complex for an entire night. His eyes were bloodshot, his expression weary yet resolute.
Upon waking and seeing the string of messages from Zeus, Yun Li was taken aback, unable to close his mouth in shock, and hurried downstairs. When he saw Zeus’s haggard appearance, guilt and heartache filled his heart.
“ brother Si, why are you here? Why are you dressed so lightly? Aren’t you cold?” Yun Li’s voice carried surprise, a hint of panic, and concern. Seeing Zeus in such thin clothing, he quickly ushered him back home.
Zeus looked up at Yun Li, his eyes seemingly harboring a storm, but he silently followed Yun Li into the elevator without saying a word.
Yun Li lowered his head, feeling utterly confused. Anyone waking up to a barrage of messages, especially with the person they liked waiting downstairs, would undoubtedly feel anxious.
The two entered Yun Li's home in silence. After making sure everything was settled, Yun Li stood in a corner of the living room like a child who had done something wrong, stealing glances at Zeus. “Um…”
Zeus looked up, his eyes filled with both anger and deep affection. “What do you want to ask? Are you wondering why I’m here? What do you think? Seeing your post, how could I possibly sit still?”
Yun Li finally realized what he meant and quickly explained, “That was just a punishment for losing a live PK, it’s not real!”
Zeus snorted coldly. “A punishment? You can just casually post about that? Do you have any idea how worried I was?”
Yun Li anxiously replied, “I really didn’t think you’d care so much. I didn’t think much of it at the time; it was just a punishment.”
Zeus turned his head away. “Just a punishment? Do you think anyone can confess to you like that?”
Yun Li froze for a moment, hurt flashing across his face. “Is that how you see me?”
Realizing he had spoken too harshly, Zeus felt regret wash over him. He gently took Yun Li’s hand, his tone filled with guilt. “Xiao Li, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have spoken so impulsively.”
Yun Li pulled his hand away, tears welling in his eyes. “Zeus, your words really hurt me. Do you think I’m that easy?”
Zeus hurriedly explained, “No, Xiao Li! I panicked when I saw that post; I’m afraid of losing you.”
Yun Li sniffled. “Zeus, there’s no need for this. I’ve been telling myself not to cross boundaries. Please don’t tease me anymore. While it makes me happy to see you jealous, it also scares me. The happiness comes from thinking you might care about me; the fear is that this might just be a fleeting interest. What if it’s not real affection? Do you understand?”
Zeus was a bit angry. "Do you not care at all that I rushed over five hundred kilometers overnight? Seeing you entangled with others drives me mad—does that not bother you? When you only reply to me with a simple 'good,' doesn’t that hurt? When I see you avoiding me, I can’t sleep all night, my mind filled with thoughts of you—does that mean you don’t like me? And when I see you cry, doesn’t that break my heart?"
Suddenly, Zeus leaned closer to Yun Li, towering over him with a heated gaze and a low, husky voice. "Do you want to know the difference between my feelings for you and yours for me?"
Yun Li was taken aback. "……??? Wait, this is too close!" Zeus radiated an aura of danger, his breath brushing against Yun Li's face, making him feel a bit dizzy.
Zeus reached out a hand and caressed Yun Li's face.
"!!!!!!!!Too… too close, Zeus!" Yun Li wanted to push him away.
Without waiting for his reaction, Zeus's hand swept across Yun Li's cheek and brushed against his ear, finally resting on the side of his head as his gaze turned aggressively intense.
In an instant, the new defenses Yun Li had just built crumbled under the weight of Zeus's actions and that last question.
Before Yun Li could respond, Zeus closed the distance…
He pressed his lips fiercely against Yun Li's soft mouth, forcing his tongue into the other’s tightly closed lips with possessive urgency, exploring everywhere. One hand roamed over Yun Li's back, trying to coax him into relaxing… He felt Yun Li shift from initial resistance to gradually softening as he gently parted his lips. Seizing the moment, Zeus dove in to find the other’s warm tongue that seemed eager yet reluctant to retreat.
Yun Li’s heart raced as he was kissed, his head spinning…
Was this inviting the wolf into the house?
His mind and heart were in chaos, memories of their time together swirling in his head—moments when Zeus teased him, times they shared warm stories from their childhood, gentle reminders from Zeus, and that song that kept coming back to mind about Leo.
Zeus seemed to sense Yun Li's distraction and, as if punishing him, bit down gently on his lip before licking his upper jaw.
Yun Li couldn't help but let out a soft moan, his breath quickening with nervousness. Cornered with no way out, he decided to throw caution to the wind.
He began to respond actively, awkwardly extending his tongue to meet Zeus's, mimicking the way he had seen him suck on lips.
Zeus was intensely stimulated by this reaction, wrapping both hands around Yun Li's head.
What started as a domineering kiss instantly transformed into something passionate as both responded in kind, like fireworks bursting in the night sky. They both yearned to stoke this flame of emotion even higher.
The kiss lasted for over ten minutes.
Neither of them was experienced, and their kisses lacked any real technique, but every gentle touch ignited the deepest desires within each other.
...
Just when Yun Li felt he could hardly breathe, Zeus was the first to relent.
If he didn't stop now, he feared he might do something even more excessive with Yun Li...
But reason told him that it wasn't the right time yet; he couldn't scare his little friend.
