"I want to organize the books as well."
"You better do it right. If I find out what you've done, I won't let you off easily."
"I won't, so don't be so nervous."
I casually walked over to the bookshelf and began sorting the books.
There were many books in the study, all bought by Ma Shan. He didn't read much; most of them were just for show.
I took all the books out and started flipping through them one by one.
Ma Shan sat in front of the computer, occasionally glancing at me.
I handed him my phone, "Do you want to play?"
He took the phone and kept staring at me.
After searching through the books, I realized I couldn't find my phone; I might have put it somewhere else.
I glanced at the time; it was already eight o'clock.
He stood up and walked over to me, arms open wide: "Tie my tie for me."
He was one hundred eighty-five centimeters tall, a head taller than me.
I looked up at his sharp chin: " Ma Shan, do you know how disgusting you look right now?"
"What did you say?" He squinted his eyes.
I snapped back to reality, realizing I had spoken out of turn.
"Nothing," I said as I tied his tie.
With something weighing on my mind, this morning felt particularly long.
After Ma Shan left for work, I began searching for my phone in the room.
I rummaged through the bedroom wardrobe, drawers, and under the bed but found nothing.
Without my phone, I couldn't contact anyone outside; escaping would be difficult.
I continued cleaning out the storage room, which held things from before our marriage along with some miscellaneous items.
While wiping down a suitcase, I suddenly discovered a phone.
The phone was covered in dust, but I recognized it at a glance as the one I had been searching for. I suppressed my excitement and quietly tucked the phone into my sleeve.
I cleaned the entire room until it was spotless. Then, I went into the bathroom, locked the door, and sat on the toilet to take the phone out of my sleeve. The phone was dead and wouldn’t turn on. I needed to find a charger.
However, with how quickly phones have been updated in recent years, mine was an older model from a few years back, and many chargers wouldn’t be compatible. I remembered there was a Micro Interface charger in the kitchen, but I wasn’t sure if it still worked.
If I went to the kitchen to look for a charger, Ma Shan would definitely become suspicious. If he found out I had taken the phone, it would be over for me. Just as I was worrying about this, I suddenly spotted the Kitchen Waste Disposer. My eyes lit up; it was the latest model and supported wireless charging.
Although my phone was old, fortunately, it also supported wireless charging. When Ma Shan returned, I could say I wanted something to eat and go to the kitchen to find food while charging my phone at the same time. As long as he didn’t enter the kitchen, he wouldn’t discover that I was charging it. If he did come in, I would just say I was looking for something to eat since there were food scraps on top of the Kitchen Waste Disposer.
I planned to charge it tonight and use it tomorrow. After formulating my strategy, I put the phone away.
When Ma Shan came back from work, he brought me a cream cake. He smiled and patted my head, saying, “You’ve worked hard today.”
“It wasn’t hard,” I replied cautiously as I took the cake from him.
"Eat up."
"Thank you."
"There's no need to be polite with me," he smiled.
If this were before, I would have thought he loved me deeply.
But after everything that has happened, I no longer believe that he truly loves me.
There is no affection in his eyes, only a hint of menace.
After finishing the cake, I quickly went to the kitchen to cook.
Seizing the opportunity, I placed my phone on the Kitchen Waste Disposer and then turned on the power.
I made sure to set the power to maximum so that it would charge faster.
