What should I do?
I opened my phone, hoping to see if I could connect.
But no matter how many times I tried, it was always wrong.
What password does Ma Shan use?
Why can't I get it right after so many attempts?
I opened the "Settings" page on my phone.
Suddenly, I saw a "Bluetooth" option.
I turned on the Bluetooth function on my phone.
I changed the name of my phone to "I am in Room 1201 of Building X, please help me call the police!"
If someone connects to my phone and sees this message, will they help me call for help?
But then I thought, this is just a passive opportunity.
If someone connects, that would be great.
But what if no one connects?
I can't place my hopes on something like that.
I hid my phone away and walked out of the bathroom in disappointment.
If this time fails, when Ma Shan takes me out next time, I will definitely escape.
No matter what, I must get away.
Ma Shan works at the company.
I turned on the TV at home all alone.
I wanted to watch a drama to ease my mind.
But as I watched, I couldn't help but start thinking about Ma Shan.
If he didn't abuse me, how wonderful it would be.
If he hadn't hit me, we would surely be very happy now, right?
Unfortunately, there are no "ifs" in this world.
The way he treats me now, I will never forgive him.
I want him to pay the price.
Time passed by second by second.
Finally, night fell. Ma Shan should be heading home now. I turned off my phone in advance. This way, he wouldn't find out.
After a while, Ma Shan returned. "Honey, I'm back."
"Thank you for your hard work, dear. I'll go make dinner for you."
I walked into the kitchen to start cooking. Ma Shan didn't say much and just sat on the sofa watching TV. Suddenly, I felt a chill behind me. I turned around and saw that Ma Shan had somehow appeared right behind me.
"Ah!" I screamed in fright, dropping the spatula from my hand onto the floor.
Ma Shan bent down to pick up the spatula and then turned to leave the kitchen. I let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, he didn't notice anything.
By the time I finished cooking and brought the food to the table, Ma Shan was already sitting there waiting for me.
"Honey, let me tell you a joke."
I was taken aback, unsure of what Ma Shan was up to.
"Sure," I replied, trying to go along with it.
"Do you know? This afternoon, our downstairs neighbor Lao Yang called me. He said that while connecting his phone to Bluetooth, he discovered a Bluetooth device belonging to someone living in our building that was calling for help."
Ma Shan paused deliberately, savoring my fear before continuing, "Lao Yang said he didn't know whose it was and just casually reported it to the police. And guess what happened next? The police went over to ask..."
It turned out that the neighbor's wife was missing, and the police took him away. Do you think that's funny?"
Not funny at all.
Not funny in the slightest.
It felt as if all the blood in my body had frozen.
So Ma Shan knew.
He knew I had secretly called the police.
What should I do?
What can I do?
"Why aren't you speaking?"
Ma Shan suddenly asked me.
"I... I don't know what to say."
"You don't know?"
Ma Shan raised his voice sharply.
"You actually don't know? You dared to call the police?"
Ma Shan suddenly stood up and slapped my face hard.
"Do you have any idea how big of a mistake you've made?
Do you understand what consequences your actions will bring?"
My face burned with pain, and my ears buzzed.
"Speak! Why aren't you saying anything?"
Ma Shan shouted as he kicked me fiercely.
I was knocked to the ground by his kick.
"I told you to call the police! I told you to call!"
Ma Shan continued to kick while muttering incessantly.
I curled up in the corner, holding my head.
