"When I chased downstairs, I had already been knocked unconscious, and I don't remember anything after that." The police officer sneered. "Then why didn't you call the police?" Pei Wen sighed. "Because I thought my wife was the murderer. I didn't want her to face legal consequences, especially since she was pregnant."
"After discovering my wife's secret, we had a huge fight. She grabbed my phone, and we ended up in a struggle."
"I was knocked out by her, and when I woke up, it was already the next day."

The police showed me the evidence provided by Pei Wen: a photo and a USB drive. The officer said that the evidence had been restored, but the records inside had been automatically deleted. The police officer looked at me. "Ye Xixi, why did you go to the office alone that night?" I became agitated and retorted loudly. "I've said it before; I'm innocent! I'm not the murderer!" The officer sighed. "Do you have any witnesses?" I blurted out, "I do—it's Chen Duo."
On the day Pei Wen was convicted, I signed my name on the divorce agreement. My lawyer guided me to the back door because there were many reporters waiting at the front for an interview. As soon as I got into the car, I saw a black sedan parked not far away, with Chen Duo standing beside it.
"Teacher," Chen Duo smiled faintly when he saw me. I got into the car, and Chen Duo followed suit. "Pei Wen has been sentenced to at least twenty years," Chen Duo said as he looked at me. "Teacher, don’t you think Pei Wen's plan was perfect? But he definitely didn't expect that you had other arrangements that day."
I sighed and gazed out of the window. "Chen Duo, thank you." Chen Duo looked puzzled. "Thank me for what?" I sighed again. "Thank you for taking me to the hospital when I passed out; otherwise, both my baby and I would have been in danger."
"I originally planned to treat you to dinner that day," I added. Chen Duo looked at me with concern. "Teacher, is your baby okay?" I touched my belly gently. "It's fine now, but it still needs monitoring. However, I really like this baby; I feel a special connection with them." Chen Duo nodded but seemed to want to say more; in the end, he remained silent. The atmosphere in the car felt heavy, and Chen Duo chose not to continue speaking.
When I returned home, I found that the police had already searched my house. Feeling exhausted, I lay on the sofa and stared at the empty room in a daze. The doctor told me that this fatigue was due to Pei Wen administering chronic medication to me; if a pregnant woman takes such medication, it can cause extreme tiredness and fainting spells. Thankfully, I was taken to the hospital in time, and my child was saved.
I lay on the sofa staring blankly at the ceiling. Buzzing. My lawyer sent me a message: "Pei Wen is under serious criminal suspicion; therefore, during asset division, he left with nothing—he didn’t get a single penny from you."
I put down my phone and lay back on the sofa while looking around at the empty room. I've been so tired lately; lying on my bed soon lulled me to sleep. When I woke up again, it was already evening. Lying on the sofa in silence made me feel strangely uncomfortable; there had been so much happening recently that it felt like a dream. But thankfully, I've awakened from that dream—Pei Wen received his due punishment, and I've regained my freedom. As for those who wanted to harm me, I would never let them off easily either.
