Chapter Six
I widened my eyes, a sense of foreboding washing over me.
“Xiao Jin, run!”
I scooped up Xiao Jin and took off at full speed.
Behind us, the rumbling sound grew louder, and the ground began to shake violently.
What was chasing us?
Could it be... the Iron-Eating Beast had returned?!
I couldn't help but glance back, and in the distance, a massive figure was charging toward us through the swirling dust.
Wait, that figure... it didn’t seem like the Iron-Eating Beast?
What could it possibly be?
My mind was filled with confusion, yet my feet dared not slow down for a moment.
“Boom… boom…”
The thunderous noise grew closer, vibrating my eardrums.
I could even feel the ground trembling beneath me, as if it might crack open at any moment.
“Whimper…”
Xiao Jin in my arms seemed to sense the danger too; it curled tightly against me, letting out a low whimper.
“Don’t be afraid, Xiao Jin,”
I reassured it as I ran,
“We will definitely escape!”
But that enormous figure was moving so quickly that no matter how fast I ran, I couldn’t shake it off.
As I felt it closing in on us, despair washed over me.
Were we really going to meet our end here?
No, I couldn’t give up!
I gritted my teeth and ran forward with all my might.
Just then, I suddenly spotted a dense forest ahead.
"That's it, the forest!"
A surge of joy filled my heart.
"As long as I can hide in the woods, maybe I can use the terrain to shake it off!"
I held onto Xiao Jin tightly and plunged into the trees.
Inside the forest, towering trees blocked out the sun, and thick underbrush created a complex terrain.
Using the cover of the trees, I dodged left and right, constantly changing direction.
The loud crashing behind me had not faded; in fact, it grew closer with each passing moment.
I could feel that massive figure not far behind me, each of its approaches sending tremors through the ground.
"Damn it, why won't this thing just go away?"
I cursed inwardly but felt utterly helpless.
All I could do was continue weaving through the woods, hoping to find a safe place to hide.
"Ugh..."
Xiao Jin suddenly pointed ahead as if it had discovered something.
Following its gaze, I saw a cave in front of me.
"A cave?"
A spark of hope ignited within me.
"Maybe I can hide in there!"
I rushed towards the cave while holding Xiao Jin tightly.
The cave was pitch black; I couldn't see my hand in front of my face.
I took out a glow stick from my Space Ring to illuminate my surroundings.
It was a naturally formed cavern, spacious inside, filled with stalactites of various shapes and sizes.
"We are safe for now."
I let out a sigh of relief and plopped down onto the ground.
"Rumble..."
A loud noise echoed outside the cave, and the massive figure seemed to have reached the entrance.
It lingered at the cave's mouth for a moment but did not come inside.
"Thank goodness it can't get in."
I patted my chest, feeling a wave of anxiety wash over me.
"Whimper..."
Suddenly, Xiao Jin tugged at the hem of my shirt and pointed toward the depths of the cave.
"What is it, Xiao Jin?"
I asked in confusion, "Did you find something?"
Xiao Jin nodded and then led the way deeper into the cave.
"Wait for me, Xiao Jin!"
I hurriedly followed after it.
As we ventured further into the cave, the terrain became more complex, twisting and turning like a labyrinth.
Xiao Jin seemed very familiar with this place, navigating effortlessly ahead.
"Xiao Jin, where are we going?"
I asked while keeping pace with it.
Xiao Jin did not respond but continued moving forward.
After a long while, we arrived at an open space.
"This is..."
I was astonished to discover that there was an underground lake here.
The lake was crystal clear, revealing the bottom, and some glowing plants floated on its surface.
"This place is so beautiful!" I couldn't help but exclaim.
"Umm..."
Xiao Jin suddenly pointed towards the center of the lake, where a massive rock sat, seemingly holding something.
"Let's go take a look."
I carefully held Xiao Jin and made my way towards the center of the lake.
On the rock, there was an enormous turtle!
The turtle was larger than I was, its shell covered in moss, suggesting it had lived for many years.
"What... what kind of creature is this?" I asked in astonishment.
"Umm..."
Xiao Jin seemed to recognize the turtle. It jumped onto the turtle's back and rubbed its head against the turtle's head.
The turtle slowly opened its eyes, glanced at me and Xiao Jin, then spoke in a deep voice.
"You... have come... to escape... from that guy, haven't you?"
"You can talk?" I stared at the turtle in surprise.
"What... what are you?"
"I... am the guardian of this forest..."
The turtle spoke slowly.
"You can call me... Master Turtle..."
"Master Turtle?" A thought sparked in my mind.
"Do you know what that gigantic figure outside is?"
"It... is the Forest Python..."
Master Roshi said,
"It is the most dangerous creature in this forest..."
"Forest Python?"
It was the first time I had heard that name.
"Is it very powerful?"
"Extremely powerful..."
Master Roshi replied,
"Its size is enormous... and its strength is unmatched... Moreover, it possesses deadly venom..."
"What should we do?"
I asked anxiously,
"We can't just hide here forever, can we?"
"You... can use the Invisibility Cloak..."
Master Roshi suggested,
"The Forest Python's... eyesight... is poor... but its sense of smell... is very keen..."
"Invisibility Cloak?"
Suddenly, I remembered that I had a fragment of an Invisibility Cloak!
"But my Invisibility Cloak is damaged; can it still work?"
I inquired.
"You can give it a try..."
Master Roshi said,
"Combining the Glowing Mint with the Invisibility Cloak... can enhance the invisibility effect..."
"Glowing Mint?"
Suddenly, I remembered that I had collected some Glowing Mint before!
"Great!"
Excitedly, I took out the fragments of the Invisibility Cloak and the Glowing Mint from my Space Ring.
"Master Roshi, do you know how to do it?"
"Crush the... Glowing Mint... and apply it to... the Invisibility Cloak..." Master Roshi instructed.
Following his guidance, I crushed the Glowing Mint and applied it to the fragments of the Invisibility Cloak.
Instantly, the Invisibility Cloak emitted a faint glow.
"Is that it?" I asked.
"Give it a try..." Master Roshi replied.
I draped the Invisibility Cloak over myself and hugged Xiao Jin.
"Let's go," I said to Xiao Jin.
Xiao Jin nodded and jumped onto my shoulder.
We cautiously stepped out of the cave and found the Forest Python still lurking outside.
It seemed unaware of us, continuing its search in vain.
"Awesome, the Invisibility Cloak is working!" A wave of joy surged through me.
Taking advantage of this, we maneuvered around the Forest Python and ran towards the edge of the forest.
"Odyssey, are you there?"
I tried to contact Odyssey.
"Zzz... I am..."
Odyssey's voice came through, breaking and intermittent.
"Are you okay?"
I asked.
"I... I need... energy..."
Odyssey said weakly,
"Did you... collect the ore from Tianzhu Peak... yet?"
"Not yet,"
I replied,
"We just encountered a Forest Python and almost lost our lives!"
"Forest... Python..."
Odyssey seemed a bit surprised,
"You... are you alright?"
"I'm fine,"
I said,
"We escaped using the Invisibility Cloak."
"That's good..."
Odyssey sighed in relief,
"You... hurry up and collect... the ore... I... I can barely hold on..."
"Okay, I understand!"
I responded,
"I will get to Tianzhu Peak as soon as possible!"
"Zii... Zii..."
The voice of Odyssey faded away.
"It seems that Odyssey is really in trouble," I thought to myself.
"I must gather the ores from Tianzhu Peak as soon as possible to save it!"
"Xiao Jin, let's go!"
I held Xiao Jin tightly.
"Towards Tianzhu Peak, we set off!"
We traversed through the forest, heading in the direction of Tianzhu Peak.
Along the way, we encountered many strange creatures, but we managed to evade them without any danger.
Finally, we arrived at the foot of Tianzhu Peak.
"This is Tianzhu Peak," I said, pointing at the towering mountain before us.
Tianzhu Peak truly lived up to its name, rising high into the clouds like a colossal pillar supporting the entire sky.
"But how do we get up there?" I wondered, gazing up at the steep peak, feeling perplexed.
"Woo..."
Xiao Jin suddenly pointed at a small path at the foot of the mountain, as if it had discovered something.
"Let's go take a look."
I carried Xiao Jin and walked along the small path.
At the end of the path, there was indeed a cave.
"There's a cave here too?" I thought to myself.
"Is this the way to the mountain top?"
I held Xiao Jin tightly and stepped into the cave.
It was dark inside, so I took out a Glow Stick to illuminate my surroundings.
This was a naturally formed tunnel, and at the end of it, there seemed to be a glimmer of light.
"Let's go!"
I carried Xiao Jin toward the light.
At the end of the tunnel, there was an exit.
"We made it out!"
I exclaimed excitedly.
Outside the exit was a vast platform.
"Is this... halfway up Tianzhu Peak?"
I looked around and realized we were indeed at the mid-point of Tianzhu Peak.
"But how do we get to the top?"
I gazed upward; the summit still seemed far out of reach.
"Ugh..."
Xiao Jin suddenly pointed to the other side of the platform, where there appeared to be a staircase leading upward.
"Let's check it out!"
I walked toward the staircase while holding Xiao Jin.
The stairs were steep and long, seemingly endless.
"Come on, Xiao Jin! We can definitely reach the top!"
As I climbed the stairs, I encouraged Xiao Jin.
Xiao Jin seemed to sense my determination and nodded vigorously.
We ascended step by step along the staircase.
After an unknown amount of time climbing, we finally reached the end of the staircase.
"We're at the top of the mountain!" I exclaimed excitedly.
The summit was a vast platform, and in the center stood a massive ore.
This ore was entirely black, emitting a faint glow.
"Is this the ore of Tianzhu Peak?" I stepped closer to examine it carefully.
"Ugh..." Xiao Jin suddenly tugged at my sleeve and pointed behind the ore.
"What is it, Xiao Jin?" I asked, puzzled.
I walked around to the back of the ore and discovered a small cave hidden there.
"There's a cave here?" A thought sparked in my mind. "Could there be some secrets inside?"
I picked up Xiao Jin and entered the cave.
It was dark inside, so I took out a Glow Stick to illuminate the surroundings.
"This is..." I was astonished to find that at the end of the cave, there was a stone door!
The door was engraved with strange symbols that resembled an ancient script.
"Odyssey, are you there?" I attempted to reach out to Odyssey. "Do you recognize these symbols?"
"Zii... Zii... What is this..."
The voice of Odyssey came through intermittently.
"This is... Ancient God Language..."
"Ancient God Language?"
It was the first time I had heard this term.
"So, what is behind this stone door?"
"I... I don't know..." Odyssey replied.
"But... but it must be... very dangerous..."
"Dangerous?"
A chill ran down my spine.
"Should we still go in?"
"Ugh..."
Xiao Jin suddenly pointed at the stone door, seemingly eager to take a look inside.
"Xiao Jin, you..."
I looked at Xiao Jin.
"Do you recognize these symbols?"
Xiao Jin nodded.
"Alright then,"
I took a deep breath.
"Let's go in and see!"
I placed my hand on the stone door and gently pushed.
To my surprise, the stone door slowly creaked open!
"Let's go inside."
I held Xiao Jin and walked through the stone door.
Behind the stone door was a vast space.
In the center of the space stood an altar.
On the altar was a statue.
The statue depicted a humanoid creature, with a pair of horns on its head and a pair of wings on its back.
"What is this...?"
I gazed at the statue in astonishment.
"Could this be... Ancient God?"
"Ugh..."
Xiao Jin suddenly let out a low whimper, and her body began to tremble.
"Xiao Jin, what's wrong?"
I asked with concern.
Xiao Jin pointed at the statue, her eyes filled with fear.
"Is there something wrong with this statue?"
A thought struck me, and I scrutinized the statue closely.
Suddenly, I noticed that the statue's eyes seemed to move!
"This is bad!"
A chill ran down my spine.
"This statue... is alive!"
At that moment, the statue suddenly opened its eyes!
"Who are you...?"
The statue spoke, its voice deep and authoritative.
"How dare you... trespass... into my... temple!"
"We..."
I was about to explain when the statue interrupted me.
"Trespassers... must die!"
The statue roared, unleashing a powerful aura.
"Xiao Jin, run!"
I hugged Xiao Jin and turned to flee.
The statue flew down from the altar, chasing after us.
"What do we do? What do we do?"
I was sweating profusely, unable to think of any solution.
Just then, I suddenly spotted a glowing stone on the altar.
"Is that...?"
A thought struck me.
"Could that be... the ore from Tianzhu Peak?"
"Xiao Jin, can you help me get that ore?"
I asked urgently.
Xiao Jin nodded and jumped out of my arms.
It dashed up to the altar and clawed at the glowing stone.
"Great job, Xiao Jin!"
I exclaimed excitedly.
"Come back quickly!"
Xiao Jin grabbed the ore and raced back to my side.
At that moment, the statue had already caught up to us.
"Die!"
The statue roared and swung a fist towards us.
"Watch out!"
I quickly hugged Xiao Jin and dodged the statue's attack.
"Damn it, this guy is too strong!"
I cursed inwardly, realizing that we were no match for it.
"Woo..."
Xiao Jin suddenly pointed at the ore in my hand, as if an idea had struck.
"Are you saying... this ore can be used against it?" I asked.
Xiao Jin nodded.
"Alright, then let's give it a try!"
I raised the ore above my head and shouted, "Odyssey, quickly absorb the energy from this ore!"
"Zzz... Zzz..."
Odyssey's voice came through again, "Absorbing..."
In an instant, the ore emitted a dazzling light, and a powerful energy surged into my body.
"Ah!"
I felt strength coursing through me. "Is this... Odyssey's power?"
"Die!"
The statue charged at us once more.
"Come on!"
I roared, swinging my fists as I advanced.
"Boom!"
Our fists collided, unleashing a powerful shockwave.
"What incredible strength!"
I felt a tingling sensation in my arms.
"This statue... truly formidable!"
"Bring it on!"
I swung my fist again, aiming for the statue.
The statue showed no signs of backing down, engaging me in a fierce battle.
Our fight was earth-shattering, causing the entire space to tremble.
"Ugh..."
Xiao Jin cheered me on from the sidelines.
"Odyssey, how much longer can you hold on?"
I asked while continuing to fight.
"Zzz... I'm... running out of strength..."
Odyssey's voice grew weaker.
"You... you must... defeat it... quickly..."
"I understand!"
I gritted my teeth.
"I will definitely defeat it!"
I concentrated all my strength into my fist and struck at the statue.
A loud bang echoed through the air as the statue was sent flying.
"What an opportunity!"
I seized the moment and rushed forward, launching a flurry of attacks against the statue.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The statue was utterly defenseless, its glow dimming with each strike.
"Die!"
I roared, pouring all my strength into a single punch that landed squarely on the statue's chest.
Crack!
A fissure appeared on the statue's chest.
Roar!
The statue let out a wretched scream as its body shattered into countless fragments, dissipating into the air.
"Did we... did we win?"
I panted, still catching my breath.
"Odyssey, are you... are you okay?"
"Zzz... I'm... I'm fine..."
Odyssey's voice sounded much lighter now.
"Thank you... Li Yue..."
"I should be thanking you, Odyssey,"
I smiled.
"If it weren't for you, I would have been done for."
"Woo..."
Xiao Jin chimed in happily.
"Alright, it's time for us to go back."
I picked up Xiao Jin.
"It's time to say goodbye to this strange world."
"Wait a moment..."
Odyssey suddenly spoke up.
"Do you... do you remember... that stone door?"
"Stone door?"
I was taken aback.
"Are you talking about the stone door of the Ancient God?"
"Yes..."
Odyssey replied.
"That stone door... connects to... another world..."
"Another world?"
I asked in surprise.
"What kind of world is it?"
"I... I don't know..."
Odyssey said.
"But... but there might be... something you need there..."
"Something I need?"
I felt a stir in my heart.
"Could it be... a way to return to the real world?"
"Maybe..." Odyssey said.
"Do you... want to take a look?"
"I..."
I hesitated.
"But what about Xiao Jin?"
"Ugh..."
Xiao Jin seemed to understand my words. It pointed at the stone door and then at itself, as if wanting to come with me.
"Xiao Jin, you..."
I looked at Xiao Jin, my heart filled with emotion.
"Are you really willing to go with me?"
Xiao Jin nodded.
"Alright,"
I took a deep breath.
"Then let's go see together!"
I hugged Xiao Jin and approached the stone door once more.
"Odyssey, are you ready?"
I asked.
"I'm ready..."
Odyssey replied.
"Let's open the stone door..."
I placed my hand on the stone door and gently pushed.
The stone door slowly creaked open.
A dazzling light burst forth from the crack, enveloping us.
"Let's go!"
I held Xiao Jin tightly as I stepped through the stone door.
Once the light faded, we found ourselves in an unfamiliar place.
"Where is this...?"
I looked around and realized that we were in a...
Wait, where's my Invisibility Cloak?
And that massive figure in the distance, why does it look so much like... a Forest Python?!
"Odyssey!"
I shouted in terror,
"You said there might be a way to get back here?!"
"Zzz... Zzz... Signal... bad..."
Odyssey's voice crackled intermittently,
"Good... luck..."
"Hey! Hey!"
I called out anxiously but received no response.
"Woo..."
Xiao Jin clung to me tightly, trembling with fear.
"It's over..."
I gazed at the enormous figure drawing closer, despair flooding my heart,
"This time... it's really the end..."
The massive body of the Forest Python slithered through the jungle, each movement accompanied by the sound of snapping trees. Its hissing grew louder, echoing like a death knell.
"What do I do? What do I do?"
Holding Xiao Jin, my mind went blank,
"Am I really going to die here?"
At that moment, I caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of my eye.
It was a plant, one that emitted a ghostly blue glow in the darkness.
Wait, could it be...
"Glowing Mint?!"
A surge of joy filled my heart.
"Of course! How could I have forgotten about it!"
I quickly retrieved the last remaining fragment of the Invisibility Cloak from my Space Ring; this was my final hope!
"Xiao Jin," I urged anxiously, "hurry, help me gather some leaves from the Glowing Mint!"
Xiao Jin seemed to understand my intent. It swiftly flew over and began to collect the leaves with its tiny claws.
"Faster! Please, faster!" I urged, my anxiety rising.
"It's coming closer!"
The massive body of the Forest Python was now mere feet away, and I could even smell the nauseating stench emanating from it.
Just as the situation became critical, Xiao Jin finally returned with enough leaves and flew back to my side.
"Hurry, give me the leaves!"
I snatched the leaves from Xiao Jin and quickly rubbed them on the fragment of the Invisibility Cloak.
The ghostly blue juice soaked into the tattered fabric, releasing a strange fragrance.
"Quick, put it on!"
I draped the fragment of the Invisibility Cloak over myself and tightly held onto Xiao Jin.
At that moment, the enormous head of the Forest Python loomed before me.
Its eyes glinted with a cold light, fixated intently on me...
No, to be precise, it was staring at the spot where I had just been.
"Ha..."
I let out a long sigh of relief.
"Fortunately, I made it in time..."
The Invisibility Cloak was indeed effective!
The Forest Python turned in circles at the spot, seemingly searching for something.
Its hissing grew louder, clearly becoming impatient.
I held my breath, not daring to move a muscle, afraid that even the slightest sound would give me away.
Time passed slowly, each second feeling like a century.
Finally, the Forest Python seemed to give up its search. It turned around and slowly slithered away.
"Ha... it's finally gone..."
I exhaled deeply and sat down on the ground, drenched in cold sweat.
"Xiao Jin,"
I patted Xiao Jin's head,
"Thank you for saving me once again."
Xiao Jin affectionately nuzzled my cheek and let out a soft whimper.
"But what should we do next?"
I looked up at the unfamiliar surroundings,
"We can't contact Odyssey either. How are we supposed to get back?"
"Woof..."
Suddenly, Xiao Jin pointed in a direction, as if it had spotted something.
"What is it, Xiao Jin?"
I asked in confusion.
"What did you discover?"
Xiao Jin nodded and then flew towards the direction it was pointing.
"Wait for me, Xiao Jin!"
I hurriedly followed.
Xiao Jin led me through a dense jungle to a clearing.
In the clearing stood a massive stone tablet.
The tablet was inscribed with strange characters that looked like... Ancient God Language?
"Odyssey, are you there?"
I tried to reach out to Odyssey.
"Do you recognize these characters?"
There was no response.
"Odyssey? Odyssey?"
I called out anxiously.
"Say something!"
Still no reply.
"Damn it!"
Frustrated, I pounded the ground.
"This guy always drops the ball at critical moments!"
Suddenly, Xiao Jin pointed at the top of the stone tablet, where something seemed to be shimmering.
"What is that?"
I looked up and saw that at the top of the tablet was embedded...
A Golden Orb?!
That orb looked so familiar.
Wait, isn't that...
“Xiao Jin,”
I pointed at the orb.
“Isn't that the one you used to fly us over the lake before?”
Xiao Jin nodded.
“How did you come by such a treasure?”
I asked in surprise.
“Could it be... you’re not an ordinary dragon?”
Xiao Jin tilted its head, seemingly pondering something, and then...
It opened its mouth and spat out another identical orb!
“You... you have another one?!”
I stared at Xiao Jin in disbelief.
“What exactly are you?”
Xiao Jin proudly lifted its head and let out a clear chirp.
“Alright then,”
I shook my head helplessly.
“It seems you have many secrets I don’t know about.”
I pointed at the orb on the stone tablet.
“So what should we do now? Should we take it down?”
Xiao Jin nodded again.
“But this stone tablet is so high, how are we supposed to get up there?”
I looked up; the stone tablet was at least ten meters tall.
"Are you... going to use that orb of yours to fly up?"
Xiao Jin nodded, and then...
It opened its mouth and swallowed the orb!
"What... what are you doing?"
I asked in surprise, "Did you just eat it?"
Xiao Jin let out a loud burp, and then...
Its body began to change!
It started to swell and grow larger, its scales becoming even more radiant.
"This... this is..."
I stared in astonishment at Xiao Jin's transformation, "Are you evolving?"
Xiao Jin let out a powerful roar, and then...
It transformed into a true dragon!
A magnificent, golden dragon that radiated majesty!
"Wow..."
I marveled at the sight of Xiao Jin before me; no, it should be called Da Jin now!
"Da Jin,"
I exclaimed excitedly,
"You... you look amazing!"
Da Jin proudly lifted its head and roared.
"Can you take me to the top of the stone tablet?"
I asked, pointing at the orb atop the monument.
Da Jin nodded and then gestured for me to climb onto its back.
I carefully climbed onto Da Jin's back, gripping its scales tightly.
"Let's go!" I shouted.
Da Jin spread its wings and soared high into the sky, carrying me toward the top of the monument.
"Wow! This is so cool!" I exclaimed excitedly.
"Da Jin, you’re amazing!"
Before long, we reached the summit of the monument.
I reached out and took down the Golden Orb.
Just then, the monument suddenly began to shake!
"What’s happening?" I asked in surprise.
"Get away from there!"
A familiar voice suddenly echoed in my mind.
"Odyssey?!" I exclaimed joyfully.
"You’re finally online!"
"Stop wasting time!"
Odyssey's voice sounded urgent.
"Get away from there! That monument is a teleportation portal!"
"A teleportation portal?!" I was taken aback.
"Where are we being sent?"
"I don't know!"
Odyssey replied,
"But I can feel a powerful energy surging through the portal!"
"What should we do?"
I asked,
"How do we close the portal?"
"Put that orb back!"
Odyssey said,
"That's the Portal Key!"
"Alright!"
I quickly placed the orb back into the groove at the top of the stone tablet.
Instantly, the tablet stopped shaking, and everything around us returned to calm.
"Ah..."
I sighed in relief,
"We finally did it."
"What should we do now?"
I asked,
"How do we get back?"
"I'm locating your position..."
Odyssey said,
"Just a moment..."
"Got it!"
"Nearby, there is a natural wormhole that can transport you back to Earth!"
"Really?!"
I asked excitedly, "That's great!"
"Follow my instructions,"
Odyssey said, "Walk east for about five hundred meters..."
"Okay!"
I quickly jumped off Da Jin's back and headed east as directed by Odyssey.
"I've arrived!"
Following Odyssey's guidance, I stood in front of a cave.
"Is this the entrance to the wormhole?"
"Yes,"
Odyssey replied, "You can go in now. I will guide you through the wormhole."
"Alright!"
I took a deep breath and stepped into the cave.
It was pitch black inside, and I couldn't see anything.
"Odyssey, are you there?"
I called out.
"I'm here,"
Odyssey responded.
"Don't be afraid, just follow my guidance..."
I groped my way forward in the darkness, unsure of how long I had been walking when suddenly a bright light appeared ahead.
"We're here!"
Odyssey's voice echoed in my mind.
"That's the exit of the wormhole. You can go through now!"
I walked toward the light and passed through a shimmering barrier, arriving in an unfamiliar place.
"Where is this...?"
I looked around and was astonished to find myself...
In my rental apartment?!
"I... I'm back?!"
I gazed in disbelief at the familiar surroundings.
"Am I really back?!"
"Yes, you have returned."
Odyssey's voice resonated within me.
"Congratulations, Li Yue, you have completed all your tasks."
"Odyssey, thank you!"
I exclaimed with excitement.
"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have made it back alive!"
"This is what you deserve," Odyssey replied.
"You are brave, clever, and kind; you are an excellent adventurer."
"But what about Xiao Jin...?"
Suddenly, I remembered Xiao Jin.
"What about it? Can it come to my world?"
"It..."
Odyssey fell silent for a moment.
"It has its own mission; it must remain in that world."
"But..."
I wanted to say more, but Odyssey interrupted me.
"Li Yue,"
Odyssey said,
"Our contract is complete, and I must leave now."
"Leave?"
I was taken aback.
"Where are you going?"
"I am going to find the next person in need of help,"
Odyssey replied,
"That is my mission."
"Then... will we meet again?"
I asked.
"Perhaps,"
Odyssey said,
"If you need me, just call my name, and I will hear you."
"Odyssey..."
I wanted to say something more, but I realized that Odyssey's voice had already faded away.
"Goodbye, Odyssey."
I said softly,
"Thank you, and... Xiao Jin."
I looked out the window, where the sun was shining brightly and the birds were singing among the flowers.
I took a deep breath, savoring this long-awaited freedom and tranquility.
I was back, back in the world I knew so well.
Although this journey had been filled with danger and uncertainty, I had no regrets.
I had gained courage, friendship, and unforgettable memories.
"What should I do next?"
I murmured to myself,
"Should I continue job hunting? Or..."
Suddenly, my phone rang.
I picked it up and saw an unfamiliar number.
"Hello?"
I answered the call.
"Hello, may I speak to Miss Li Yue?"
A strange voice came from the other end.
"This is she. May I ask who you are?"
I inquired.
"We are the Cosmic Adventurers Association,"
the caller said,
"We noticed your recent... um, unique experiences and would like to invite you to join us."
"Cosmic Adventurers Association?"
I asked in surprise.
"What is that?"
"It's an organization dedicated to exploring unknown worlds and maintaining peace in the universe," the other party explained.
"Are you interested in learning more?"
"I..." I hesitated. "Can I think about it?"
"Of course," they replied. "Here is our contact information. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out."
They recited a string of numbers.
"Alright, thank you."
I hung up the phone and fell into deep thought.
Cosmic Adventurers Association?
Exploring unknown worlds?
Maintaining peace in the universe?
That sounds... quite interesting.
I looked out the window, sunlight streaming onto my face, warm and inviting.
Perhaps this is a new beginning?
I smiled to myself, "Li Yue, your future is truly filled with endless possibilities!"
Just then, a familiar call echoed from outside the window.
"Whimper?"
I was taken aback and quickly ran to the window to look outside.
In the sky, a golden figure was soaring.
That was...
"Da Jin?!"
I exclaimed in delight, "How did you get here?!"
Da Jin... no, it should be called Da Jin now.
Da Jin circled in the air for a moment before flying towards me and landing on my windowsill.
"Whimper!"
Da Jin affectionately nuzzled my cheek.
"You... how did you find me?" I asked in surprise.
Da Jin tilted its head, seemingly pondering something, and then...
It opened its mouth and spat out a Golden Orb.
"This is..."
I stared at the orb, "A Portal Key?"
Da Jin nodded.
"You mean," I continued, "you can use this orb to freely travel between different worlds?"
Da Jin proudly lifted its head.
"Then..."
I looked at Da Jin.
"Are you willing... to go on an adventure with me?"
Da Jin let out a loud dragon roar, as if to say:
"Of course!"
I smiled, genuinely happy.
"That's great!"
I hugged Da Jin tightly.
"Then let's explore more unknown worlds together!"
The sunlight poured over us, stretching our shadows long and far.
A new adventure was about to begin!
We couldn't stay trapped in this tiny rental forever...
What do you think, Da Jin?
It didn't answer, but gently nudged my hand with its head, excitement sparkling in its golden eyes.
So, let's go.
Towards the unknown distance.
"By the way,"
I suddenly remembered something,
"Which world do you think we should adventure in next?"
Da Jin tilted its head in thought, then...
Its gaze landed on a book on the table.
Was that a book about... the Dinosaur Era?
"You..."
I widened my eyes,
"You're not thinking of...?"
Da Jin grinned, revealing a row of sharp teeth.
Well, well.
I shook my head helplessly.
What could I do? I had such an unconventional partner.
"Then let's..."
I picked up the book,
"Destination, Jurassic!"
Da Jin let out an excited roar that echoed through the skies.
Our adventure would never cease!
However, this time, we needed to be fully prepared.
After all, it was the Dinosaur Era...
Who knows what we might encounter?
Right?
I closed the book, my eyes filled with anticipation.
A new journey was about to begin!
Are you ready?
My partner!
Da Jin nudged my palm with its massive head, emitting a deep and resolute dragon's roar.
So, let's set off!
Towards the unknown...
Jurassic!
We have arrived!
But before that, I still need to...
Double-check if I have enough of the Invisibility Cloak this time.
After all, it is the key to survival...
