As the words fell, a series of spells entered the soldiers' bodies. Chen Moxuan's eyes brightened; it had been a long time since he had seen such a contract, and he found it quite impressive.
"Just wait here, you two. I will investigate the truth of my relic," he instructed. "Chen Feng, you stay here as well."
Chen Feng nodded eagerly. Although he was baffled by Ancestor's actions, he said nothing. He firmly believed that every action taken by Ancestor was justified.
Despite this, he couldn't help but glance longingly at the Demonic Artifact.
Chen Moxuan ruffled Chen Feng's hair and then waved to Tiger Brother. In an instant, Tiger Brother appeared before him, carrying the Fire Serpent Demon.
"What should we do with this little demon?" Chen Moxuan asked, narrowing his eyes as he pinched the Fire Serpent Demon's chin.
It was still a female serpent demon. The cold, smooth texture made Chen Moxuan chuckle. "I think skinning you for a garment wouldn't be too bad."
"You—you! A soldier can be killed but not insulted!" Chi Lian shouted loudly.
Chen Moxuan glanced at it mockingly and said, "Oh, it seems you know quite a bit about my human race. Here’s the deal: I’ll give you two choices. First, you must unconditionally do something for me as a condition for sparing your life. Second, I can kill you right now."
"I choose one!" Chi Lian hesitated for a moment but directly chose one. "However, if what you want me to do harms my demon kin, I would rather choose death."
"That won't be necessary. A mere Southern Wilderness Demon Clan—if I wanted to annihilate you, I would only need the time it takes to burn a stick of incense," Chen Moxuan replied, a glint of brilliance flashing in his eyes. "Now go back to the Southern Wilderness and await my command!"
Finally released by Tiger Brother, Chi Lian slithered around on the ground before suddenly vanishing into a gust of Yao Feng.
After everything was settled, Chen Moxuan approached the entrance of the relic. The entrance was shrouded in a faint blood-colored mist, giving it an air of mystery and eeriness.
Stopping before the entrance, he stared intently at the mist without considering any potential danger and stepped right in.
Inside the relic was dimly lit, with only a few flickering lights casting weak glimmers. The stench of blood permeated the air.
Chen Moxuan moved forward along the winding passageway.
The stone walls on either side of the passage were etched with ancient spells and patterns, seemingly imbued with some mysterious power. Chen Moxuan's gaze lingered on these spells and designs for a moment. They were incomprehensible, possibly a type of spell invented by the Blood Emperor, but he couldn't discern their purpose.
Tiger Brother observed for a moment and remarked, "It should be a spell that gathers spiritual energy and alters the environment. You’ll understand more as we go deeper."
After hearing this, Chen Moxuan continued onward. He and Tiger Brother soon reached the innermost part of the passage, where they discovered a massive Blood Pool, filled with various bones soaking within it.
Tiger Brother spoke again, "Once the seal of this ruin is broken, that Blood Demon must have been born from here. The spells on those walls are meant to kill living beings and channel their blood into this pool."
"Look over there," Tiger Brother pointed out. Following his gesture, Chen Moxuan noticed a stone chamber. In the center of the chamber stood an ancient altar, which was also inscribed with numerous spells.
"Revival Ritual!" A sudden flash of familiarity struck Chen Moxuan as he gazed at the altar. He recalled that over six thousand years ago, during the time when righteous cultivators were eradicating all traces of the Blood Emperor's legacy, he had inadvertently stumbled into a tomb containing this very altar.
At that time, the Blood Emperor's direct disciple had used all the offerings to reconstruct the physical body of Blood Earth. Remarkably, that disciple had succeeded in bringing it back to life. However, what emerged was not truly the Blood Emperor; it was merely a powerful physical form. Interestingly enough, that body had been occupied by a wandering spirit, which had frightened those cultivators half to death!
Tiger Brother opened his mouth as if to yawn, seemingly uninterested in Chen Moxuan's tale. Chen Moxuan shot him a glance before continuing to observe the stone chamber. Aside from the numerous spells and enigmatic patterns on the walls, there was also a skeleton sitting in one corner.
Around the skeleton were signs of claw marks scattered everywhere, long since filled with dust over time. Chen Moxuan's gaze settled on the fingers of that skeleton.
On his finger, there was an ancient Na Ring, its luster untouched by the passage of time. Chen Moxuan bent down and carefully removed the Na Ring, a faint scent of Blood Stench emanating from it, incongruous with the atmosphere of the relic.
Hmm? This Na Ring actually conceals such treasures. Chen Moxuan was secretly astonished, though he maintained a calm exterior. With a gentle swipe, the items within the Na Ring became visible before his eyes: several yellowed ancient texts, a blood-colored pill, and a blood-red jade pendant adorned with strange patterns.
The ancient texts contained a secret method known as Blood Refinement God. This technique was closely related to blood and could enhance one's cultivation by absorbing the blood of living beings, making it extremely domineering. After casually flipping through it, Chen Moxuan couldn't help but think: what a sinister method this is.
Chen Moxuan meticulously examined the skeleton and its surroundings. Confirming that there were no other treasures, he straightened up and exchanged a knowing glance with Tiger Brother. The two silently left the blood-scented relic behind.
Stepping out of the relic, the sunlight outside felt particularly blinding, contrasting sharply with the dimness inside. Chen Moxuan paused, retrieving the ancient text detailing Blood Refinement God from the Na Ring, along with the ominous magic sword.
He approached Hong Zhu and Di Sha Jiang Jun. "Choose one of these two items," he said.
Hong Zhu and Di Sha Jiang Jun exchanged glances, disbelief flashing in their eyes. This sudden gift caught them off guard, but excitement and greed quickly took over. Hong Zhu's eyes sparkled with calculating light; she understood the value of the magic sword and fixed her gaze on it intently. Di Sha Jiang Jun was more interested in the ancient text, his eyes radiating desire.
"Thank you, Senior!" they exclaimed almost in unison, their voices filled with gratitude and urgency. They both stepped forward simultaneously to reach for the items but then halted in unison, waiting for Chen Moxuan's further instructions.
A playful smile curled at the corners of Chen Moxuan's lips. "Remember, choose wisely; this could determine your future paths!" His voice was not loud but resonated clearly in everyone's ears, carrying an indescribable authority.
