Standing at the peak of the celestial mountain, Shao Lanyin felt a gentle breeze brush against her, stirring her light garments, yet it could not disperse the heavy thoughts weighing on her mind. She gazed through the clouds, seemingly searching for some answers.
Recalling the recent events, she remembered how she had saved the injured man, who had now awakened and introduced himself as Qiu Hao, a high-level body refiner who had lived for over ten thousand years! Though his injuries were severe, thanks to Shao Lanyin's celestial arts, he was gradually stabilizing.
During their conversation, Shao Lanyin asked, "When I saved you, there was a mysterious yellow aura surrounding you for protection. It seems your cultivation method is quite unique; it doesn’t appear you lack guidance. How did you end up in such a predicament?"
Qiu Hao sighed and replied, "Shao Xian Di, your insight is remarkable. I practice the Nine Turns Xuan Huang Classic; I believe you have heard of it."
Shao Lanyin narrowed her eyes and asked, "Are you connected to the Wanxian Sect?"
"I am one of the Ten Elders of the Wanxian Sect!" he declared.
Shao Lanyin was instantly taken aback by Qiu Hao's revelation. The Wanxian Sect could be considered the second largest sect in Xianyuan Shengzhou. While it might not reach the heights of the Wanxian, its Ten Elders were indeed formidable figures. Someone of his stature should not have fallen into such dire straits.
Noticing Shao Lanyin's confusion, Qiu Hao's eyes flickered with a hint of darkness as he slowly spoke, his voice heavy with emotion. "The reason I was pursued is that I heard a prophecy."
Shao Lanyin's heart stirred at his words as she fixed her gaze on Qiu Hao, waiting for him to continue.
"The abyss emerges, stars dim,
Power awakens, storms rise,
The door shall open, Mo Ying descends."
"This was a prophecy given by my senior brother. Unfortunately, he had already suffered backlash at that time and was gravely injured, making it difficult for him to convey the prophecy completely."
A trace of pain flashed in Qiu Hao's eyes before he continued. "After my senior brother spoke this prophecy, he was suddenly ambushed. More than a dozen Demons appeared out of nowhere like ghosts; they were armed with various magical artifacts and clearly came prepared."
I initially intended to rely on my own cultivation to eliminate all those Demons and protect the last message left by my senior brother. However, I never expected them to be so cunning, launching seven or eight magical artifacts at me simultaneously.
Even though I had cultivated the Nine Turns Xuan Huang Classic to a profound level, it was still difficult to withstand such a coordinated attack from so many. Moreover, the strength of those Demons was not much inferior to mine. I exerted all my strength to barely escape, but I was severely injured. If it weren't for encountering you, Shao Xian Di, I would have surely met my demise.
As I spoke, a flicker of gratitude flashed in Qiu Hao's eyes, only to be quickly replaced by deep concern. The strangeness of the situation hinted at an even greater conspiracy lurking behind it.
A gentle breeze suddenly brushed against Shao Lanyin's face, pulling her out of her memories. Just as one wave settled, another rose; she had yet to find a way to escape from the two powerful Celestial Beings when new troubles emerged. She had intended to pass this trouble onto her disciple, but now it seemed that things were not quite right. Most importantly, she could not understand where so many experts had suddenly appeared from.
Even if the Blood Emperor had left behind contingencies in the Blood Sea, it was impossible for him to defy the natural order and suddenly cultivate these experts. As Shao Lanyin pondered this, a series of figures suddenly streaked across her vision. A group of Little Demons seemed to have received some kind of summons, inexplicably circling around at the foot of the mountain before quickly departing again.
Shao Lanyin furrowed her brows and murmured to herself, "I wonder where that Little Beast has run off to again, forgetting its own duties. It doesn’t even notice when Little Demons arrive." Her words carried a hint of helplessness and affection.
Before she could prepare to find that mischievous Little Beast, Shao Lanyin suddenly noticed that the sky dimmed abruptly, as if nightfall had come unexpectedly. Following that, a black stone streaked across the sky like a meteor, shooting straight into the clouds.
The stone shattered mid-air into fine dust, transforming into countless specks of black light that floated in the air and gradually coalesced into a door shape. This sudden change caused Shao Lanyin's expression to tighten; soon after, an Evil Aura surged forth from that door. An Ink Light Gate appeared in the sky, emanating a chilling aura.
Shao Lanyin's expression shifted from surprise to seriousness; she hadn't anticipated that someone would dare come looking for trouble directly with her. Although she had sustained some injuries earlier, her strength was not something an ordinary character could easily contend with.
She pondered to herself, who could possibly be bold enough to provoke her so openly?
As a figure slowly emerged from the Ink Light Gate, Shao Lanyin's expression turned grim.
Mo Zu. Shao Lanyin murmured the name, her voice low yet betraying an unmistakable shock and wariness.
Mo Zu—this name resonated throughout Xianyuan Shengzhou and the entire realm of cultivation like thunder. His appearance undoubtedly signified that an unprecedented storm was about to sweep in.
With Mo Zu's emergence, the air around them seemed to freeze, even the gentle breeze ceased to blow. Shao Lanyin could sense an unprecedented Evil Aura descending from above, enveloping her and the entire celestial mountain.
She knew that this battle was now unavoidable.
"Mo Zu, why have you come?" Shao Lanyin asked in a deep voice. Though her tone was calm, it carried an undeniable authority.
Mo Zu smiled slightly, his voice reminiscent of something from beneath Jiu You, laced with a chilling intensity that sent shivers down her spine. "Shao Lanyin, I mentioned during my last visit that our affair was far from over; now I have returned."
His words were filled with confidence.
Shao Lanyin glanced at the door behind Mo Zu, narrowing her eyes as she asked, "It seems your demonic realm is on the brink of destruction; no wonder you are in such a hurry."
"Let me tell you, now is not the time. We are in the midst of a great upheaval. I have made thorough preparations; your interference at this moment is rather unwise. It would be better for you to wait until circumstances change before you come again—wouldn't that be splendid?"
Shao Lanyin appeared to be genuinely concerned for Mo Zu's well-being.
Mo Zu laughed heartily. "Your preparations are not in vain; while we may be evenly matched one-on-one, this time I am not here just for you."
As his words fell, fierce winds suddenly whipped up from afar, and then a giant roc descended from the sky, holding a Holy Lantern of the demon clan in its grasp.
Shao Lanyin's expression darkened even further.
Below the Immortal Emperor level, a top-tier magical artifact was worth more than a dozen masters of the Eternal Life Realm. It was precisely for this reason that her obedient disciple had been scouring for Divine Ability artifacts everywhere. Even as they descended the mountain, they intended to seize something from her before leaving.
"Damn it! It's a bit troublesome, but if you want me dead, you're still lacking a bit of firepower," Shao Lanyin gritted his teeth.
It wasn't as simple as he made it sound.
Mo Zu laughed even louder, "Just wait and see!"
