On the tree-lined path of the campus, sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting patches of golden light on the ground. Xiao Haochen was engrossed in a traditional Chinese medicine textbook, walking and reading, lost in a sea of knowledge. Suddenly, the tranquility was broken by the ringing of his phone. He pulled it out and saw that it was a call from Professor Wang.
"Hello, Professor Wang!" Xiao Haochen said respectfully.
"Haochen, are you able to come to my office for a moment? I have something important to discuss with you," Professor Wang's voice carried a hint of joy.
"Sure, Professor. I'll be there right away." Xiao Haochen hung up and quickened his pace, wondering what the professor wanted to talk about.
Before long, Xiao Haochen arrived at Professor Wang's office. He pushed the door open and saw Professor Wang sitting at his desk, a look of satisfaction on his face.
"Haochen, come in and have a seat," Professor Wang warmly invited.
Xiao Haochen approached and sat down, curiosity evident on his face. "Professor, what did you want to see me about?"
Professor Wang picked up a document from his desk and handed it to Xiao Haochen. "Congratulations, Haochen. The organizing committee for the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Symposium has sent an invitation to our school specifically requesting you to attend this year's symposium."
Xiao Haochen took the document, his eyes widening in surprise and delight. "Really, Professor? Am I really able to participate in such an important National Traditional Chinese Medicine Symposium?"
Professor Wang nodded with a smile. "That's right. Your performance has been recognized by everyone. Your outstanding contributions in class and during practical sessions, along with your unique insights into traditional Chinese medicine, have caught the attention of many experts in the field. This National Traditional Chinese Medicine Symposium is a rare opportunity for you to showcase your abilities and learn."
Xiao Haochen felt a thrill run through him as he grasped the significance of this opportunity. "Thank you so much, Professor! I will prepare thoroughly and not let you down."
"That's the spirit," Professor Wang encouraged. "Take these next few days to prepare your speech content, and feel free to come to me if you have any questions."
Upon returning to the dormitory, Xiao Haochen immediately immersed himself in the intense preparation work. He spent all day in the library, sifting through a vast amount of materials and organizing his research findings.
His roommate, Li Yang, noticed Xiao Haochen's busy figure and curiously asked, “Haochen, what have you been up to lately? We hardly see you around.”
Xiao Haochen looked up, excitement gleaming in his eyes. “Li Yang, guess what! I've been invited to the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Symposium! I need to prepare my speech content over the next few days.”
“Wow, Haochen, that's amazing!” Li Yang said with envy on his face. “You better perform well and bring glory to our school.”
“Yeah, I will definitely do my best,” Xiao Haochen replied firmly.
During his preparation, Xiao Haochen encountered some challenges. He needed a deeper understanding of some cutting-edge Traditional Chinese Medicine theories. Therefore, he returned to Professor Wang's office.
“Professor, I have some questions about the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern medicine while preparing my speech. Could you explain it to me?” Xiao Haochen asked humbly.
Professor Wang took the materials from Xiao Haochen and examined them carefully before patiently explaining, “Haochen, the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern medicine is an important direction in current medical development. Look here…”
Under Professor Wang's guidance, Xiao Haochen experienced a breakthrough. After several days and nights of hard work, he finally completed his speech preparation.
The day of departure arrived. Xiao Haochen shouldered his backpack filled with materials and set off for the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Symposium. On the train, he met an Old Chinese Medicine Doctor who was also heading to the symposium.
“Young man, are you going to attend the Traditional Chinese Medicine Conference as well?” the Old Chinese Medicine Doctor asked with a smile.
“Yes, senior,” Xiao Haochen replied politely.
"You're quite young to have the opportunity to participate in such an important National Traditional Chinese Medicine Symposium; that's impressive," the Old Chinese Medicine Doctor said, his eyes filled with approval.
Xiao Haochen felt a bit shy and replied, "Thank you for your kind words, Senior. I still have much to learn. I'm going with a mindset focused on learning."
The Old Chinese Medicine Doctor and Xiao Haochen began discussing the current state and future trends of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Xiao Haochen listened attentively, occasionally sharing his own thoughts. Their conversation flowed easily, which made Xiao Haochen even more excited about the upcoming National Traditional Chinese Medicine Symposium.
Finally, Xiao Haochen arrived in the city where the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Symposium was being held. Standing at the entrance of the conference center, he took a deep breath and silently vowed to showcase his abilities at this symposium and contribute to the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
