Xiao Haochen stood backstage at the conference center, his heart pounding like a drum. He took deep breaths, trying to calm his nerves. In his hand, he tightly clutched the repeatedly revised speech, the densely packed words serving as a testament to his efforts along the way.
“Haochen, don’t be nervous. You’ve prepared thoroughly; you’ll be just fine,” said Professor Wang, noticing his anxiety and offering a gentle reassurance.
Xiao Haochen turned to look at Professor Wang, forcing a smile. “Professor, I know, but just thinking about facing so many industry experts makes me uneasy.”
Professor Wang patted him on the shoulder. “That’s normal. You need to believe in your abilities. Your insights and research in Traditional Chinese Medicine are more than enough to shine on this stage.”
At that moment, the host's voice rang out from the front, “Next, let’s welcome Xiao Haochen from XX University to share his insights on the application of integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern medicine in treating difficult diseases.”
Xiao Haochen took a deep breath, straightened his back, and walked steadily onto the stage. Below him, curious and expectant eyes focused intently on him. He bowed slightly and then lifted his head, meeting the audience's gaze with determination.
“Esteemed experts and colleagues, hello everyone.” Xiao Haochen’s voice was clear and resonant, amplified through the microphone to fill the entire venue. “In today’s world of rapid advancements in modern medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, as a treasure of our country’s heritage, is facing new opportunities and challenges. As he delved deeper into his presentation, Xiao Haochen gradually became immersed in it, forgetting his nervousness. He elaborated on how Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern medicine could complement each other through various real-life cases. On the large screen behind him, charts and data powerfully supported his arguments.
The experts in the audience listened attentively, occasionally whispering to one another in discussion. A senior Old Chinese Medicine Doctor sitting in the front row nodded slightly, a look of approval in his eyes.
“In this case, we utilized acupuncture therapy from Traditional Chinese Medicine alongside precise pharmacological treatments from modern medicine, resulting in significant improvement for the patient…” Xiao Haochen spoke with confidence; every gesture and expression was perfectly timed.
As he concluded his speech, there was a brief silence before thunderous applause erupted from the audience. Xiao Haochen bowed slightly again, filled with excitement and joy.
Stepping off the stage, Professor Wang approached him with a proud smile on his face. “Haochen, that was fantastic! Your presentation was brilliant!”
Xiao Haochen said excitedly, "Professor, thanks to your guidance and support, I was able to achieve such results."
During the subsequent Q&A session, an expert stood up and asked, "Xiao Haochen, the combined treatment method you proposed may face some technical and conceptual obstacles in practical promotion. How do you think we should address these issues?"
Xiao Haochen thought for a moment and replied, "This is a crucial question, senior. In terms of technology, we need to increase research investment to promote the integration and innovation of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine techniques. Conceptually, we should enhance our publicity and educational efforts to help more people understand the advantages of combining Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. Another expert posed a question: "Regarding some traditional Chinese medicine therapies, they may face challenges in quantification under modern medical standards. What are your thoughts on this?"
Xiao Haochen smiled and answered, "Traditional Chinese medicine has a long history and rich practical experience. Although there are certain difficulties in quantification, we can draw on some research methods from modern medicine to gradually explore quantification standards suitable for traditional Chinese medicine. At the same time, we must not overlook the holistic perspective and syndrome differentiation characteristic of traditional Chinese medicine; we cannot judge its value solely based on quantification."
The experts expressed their agreement with Xiao Haochen's responses. After the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Symposium concluded, many experts approached him to engage in discussions.

He knew this was just a new starting point on his journey in traditional Chinese medicine; many more challenges and opportunities awaited him in the future.
