On that day, the village was bustling with activity as the villagers tended to their farming tasks. Suddenly, a piercing scream shattered the tranquility: "Help! Tom is injured, and it's serious!" 0

Alice's heart tightened at the sound of the cry. She immediately set down the herbs she was organizing and ran towards the source of the voice. In the village square, a crowd had gathered around a young man lying on the ground, his face pale and groaning in pain. A jagged stone had cut a long gash in his right leg, and blood was pouring out, leaving the villagers in a state of panic, unsure of what to do. 0

Alice squeezed through the crowd and, upon seeing the scene, modern first aid knowledge flashed through her mind. Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she called out, "Everyone, stay calm! Let me try!" 0

The villagers looked at her with skepticism but had no better options at that moment, so they parted to make way. Alice instructed two villagers to hold Tom's leg still to prevent him from moving around. She quickly scanned her surroundings for anything useful. Spotting a bucket filled with clean water nearby, she asked someone to bring it over. 0

Next, she retrieved a clean handkerchief from her small cloth bag—her only possession from the modern world that she had kept safe. She soaked the handkerchief in water and gently wiped Tom's wound, trying to remove dirt and blood from around it. Despite Tom's painful convulsions, Alice's movements were gentle yet firm. 0

After cleaning the wound, Alice realized it was too deep and needed to be bandaged to stop the bleeding. Remembering some coarse cloth she had seen in a wooden cabinet back in her room, she immediately sent an elderly woman to fetch it. While waiting, she asked the villagers if anyone had alcohol. Fortunately, one villager had some homemade spirits. 0

Alice poured the alcohol over the wound for disinfection; the sharp smell made Tom cry out in pain, but she knew this step was crucial. Soon after, the elderly woman returned with the coarse cloth. Alice carefully wrapped it around Tom's leg, circling it multiple times with just enough pressure to stop the bleeding without causing him excessive discomfort. 0

Throughout this process, Alice remained focused, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. Her eyes reflected determination and confidence as if she had forgotten about the crowd watching her. The villagers observed her quietly, their initial doubt gradually turning into admiration. 0

After much effort, the bleeding from Tom's leg finally stopped. His complexion began to regain some color, and his breathing became less frantic. Alice let out a sigh of relief and sat down beside him, tiredly wiping her forehead. 0

Tom slowly opened his eyes and looked at Alice before weakly saying, "Thank you, miss." The surrounding villagers also expressed their gratitude and praise for her. 0

"That girl is amazing; I've never seen anyone handle a wound like that before." 0

"Yes, if it weren't for her… Tom might have…" 0

Alice smiled a little awkwardly and said, "It's nothing. I just happen to know some methods." 0

From that moment on, Alice's status in Maple Leaf Village changed. The villagers no longer saw her as a stranger but instead filled with trust and respect for her. They often sought her advice on various issues, and Alice always did her best to help them. 0

Alice began teaching the villagers some basic hygiene knowledge, such as the importance of washing hands before meals and after using the restroom, as well as how to treat wounds to prevent infection. She also utilized her knowledge of plants learned in the modern world to help the villagers identify medicinal herbs. Under her influence, the lifestyle in Maple Leaf Village gradually began to change for the better. 0

In this process, Alice gradually found her value in this world. She was no longer the confused and helpless traveler but had begun to shine with her wisdom and kindness in this unfamiliar Nineteenth Century world, earning the villagers' affection and respect. She knew that the road ahead was still long, but at this moment, she had already taken an important step forward. 0
