Seeing them like this, the Big Sister became overly excited, probably forgetting that the shop belonged to her, and quickly made room for them.
Upon hearing this, Lin Menghan's face turned bright red as she immediately explained, "It's not like that, Sister! Really, it's not what you think!"
However, the Big Sister laughed dismissively, "Haha, don't be shy, little sister. I've been through it too; I understand these things."
Lin Menghan realized that no matter how much she explained, it wouldn't help, so she decided to change the subject. "Well, let’s not talk about that. I want to keep watching you make cakes." She stomped her foot in dissatisfaction as she spoke.
At that moment, Lin Menghan turned to Xu Nancheng and said in a sweet tone, "Nancheng, let’s watch together!" Her eyes were filled with anticipation and pleading.
Xu Nancheng couldn't help but smile at Lin Menghan's pitiful expression and nodded in agreement. After all, he felt more embarrassed than anyone else after being teased earlier.
Lin Menghan happily pulled Xu Nancheng closer to her side as they both watched the Big Sister make cakes. The Big Sister noticed Xu Nancheng and smiled at Lin Menghan, saying, "Little sister, your boyfriend looks really cute!"
Of course, she meant no harm; she was just teasing.
"That's right!" Lin Menghan held Xu Nancheng's hand tighter and leaned her body close to him, rubbing her head against his shoulder with a proud expression.
"That reminds me of my own boyfriend from high school," the Big Sister said with a sigh as she recalled her past experiences.
This statement piqued Lin Menghan's curiosity; her eyes lit up as she asked eagerly, "Sister, what happened? Can you tell me?"
Seeing Lin Menghan's inquisitive expression, the Big Sister smiled gently and replied, "Of course! It's all in the past anyway." She then began to recount her high school romance.
It turned out that the Big Sister had started dating a boy from her class during her senior year. However, fate played a cruel trick on her; the boy turned out to be a complete scoundrel. He was always flirting around and breaking hearts, which left the Big Sister heartbroken. Eventually, unable to endure it any longer, she chose to kick him out of her life.
Lin Menghan listened with a frown; how could there be such people? "He deserves a beating!" she exclaimed indignantly.
Seeing her reaction made the Big Sister laugh. "Oh well, it's all in the past. But look at this little brother; he really likes you! He’s honest and looks good too." She glanced at Xu Nancheng, who was standing quietly beside them holding Lin Menghan’s hand and gazing at her tenderly.
Hearing himself praised made Xu Nancheng smile awkwardly as he said shyly, "Thank you for the compliment." He wasn’t very articulate but had a sweet tongue.
Lin Menghan then remembered something she had decided earlier and mustered up her courage to ask, "By the way, Sister, can I work part-time here on weekends?"
She thought this sister seemed nice and gentle; perhaps she could earn some money working for her.
Upon hearing this, Xu Nancheng looked shocked at Lin Menghan. She wanted to take a part-time job? Why? She could just enjoy herself! Was it because her family didn’t give her enough allowance?
But he couldn’t say anything here; after all, it was better not to mention it given her situation. He thought he would wait until they left the shop to ask about it and then try to persuade her against it. He couldn’t think of any other ideas at the moment.
After all, he understood that explaining such matters to someone unfamiliar wasn’t easy for Lin Menghan.
"Lin Menghan, if you feel like you don't have enough money, you can just say so. You don't need to take on a part-time job; that would be exhausting." He couldn't help but bring it up.
Lin Menghan quickly shook her head. "Oh, Nancheng, I want to earn some money myself; it helps me save a bit too." This was indeed Lin Menghan's honest sentiment, without a hint of pretense.
Xu Nancheng wanted to say more but felt that continuing might lead him to reveal things he shouldn't. He simply said, "Alright then, I'll leave it to you," and closed his mouth, deciding to discuss the rest later.
The older sister didn't refuse; instead, she joked, "Look at your boyfriend caring for you, little sister. How about this: if you want to come by, just come."
"My shop hasn't been open for long, and I'm the only one managing it. Sometimes I could use an extra hand when things get busy."
Upon hearing this, Lin Menghan was overjoyed, nearly dancing with excitement as she thanked her profusely.
Xu Nancheng felt a chill in his heart; he realized he would have to tell his parents about this. He probably wouldn't be able to manage it himself.
The older sister handed the cake to Xu Nancheng, who immediately paid for it.
Then Lin Menghan sat down to discuss some necessary details with her.
"Little sister, what's your name?" the older sister asked gently.
"Call me Lin Menghan. And what about you?" she replied with a smile.
"My name is Zhou Yuxuan. Let's talk about the financial matters together."
